Continuing the preview of the next game for those who have commented I've done an updated version here for your perusal (changes highlighted in red):

Particularly keen to hear if you think I've sorted hacker cheating, clarified cha gen and the 'events' section?!?

Cool. Just a question. If using an existing character, when I work it out if my mental skills and stats and stuff come to more than 200BP (which I think they will tbh cos that's the type of character he is) do I have to reduce them, or make a new char, or am I just lucky?

I more or less plucked the 200BPs from thin air as I thought it should cover it! I'm happy to change that on a case by case basis but it won't give you many in node points to play with...

What I might do with the TM initiative thing is only allow one PC TM and one AI max and they have to convince me they want the challenge of roleplaying their awe and wonder at the UV node - which will be highly addictive for them! That way someone lucks out and gets a bonus 2IPs for 5BPs but considering wired reflexes 2 costs 6BPs and a bit of essence I'm not too stressed! Thoughts?!?

Maybe I'm an optimist at heart and don't think anyone would do that just for some points?!? Ok...that one clearly isn't resolved yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) It's part of the feel of the UV node that I've already introduced you to but the mechanics need adjusting!

I've also decided to fix 'race' so that mental stats don't jump about...you can play an elf and look like a troll in the UV node but you'll be a decidedly wimpy but charismatic one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

that doesnt' really make any sense. If the UV node can simulate super-awesome cyberware, why can't it simulate me being a troll. That's silly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As for Matrix IP in node. How about this.

You roll Resonance vs System, net hits means you get to use Matrix IP for that number of rounds, but then you have to take drain = your resonance rating.

Well if you can work a mechanic that allows race to change I'd be happy but I'm not sure that the node could make you 'dumber' by taking a troll's physical stats so unless I change racial BP costs...hmmm? Argh!

AIs don't have resonance but I take your point! Maybe I'll base it on the Rush adept power from WAR! but allow the TM/AI to choose +1/+2 or +3 IPs with the drain risk associated with it!

Well, I would do it this way:

You are the GM, you have a right to say, "you're being a munchkin, no you cannot make a character with 1's in all the physical stats, and maxed out mental stats, and then make him a "troll" to get amazing stats over all.

I think instead of having some cumbersome rules like that, look at each character in total, and yay or nay it.

Haha. This is exactly what I was thinking reading through the thread right up until I got to this post, and then It's already been said (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It seems to me the best way will be to take each character on an individual basis. Even better, how about this. Current Emerging players can discuss character ideas individually, or carry on their characters and discuss the implications of that. New players don't have an 'out of node' persona. Just make normal chars but maybe at increased BPs if it looks like they'll need em. You don't even have to tell em they're in a node until first time they die, then pm em and tell em they wake up in a chair (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The idea appeals but don't worry, I have some other twists in mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif)

I am going to post the recruitment thread for the next Emerging game today but we'll keep this thread up to run with the current IC which I still intend to finish in style (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

In the room we are in, are there any/alot of explosive weapons or demolitions equipment? The clock is ticking, so we don't want to waste a lot of time, but it might be worth it to fire off a few minigrenades from someone's Alpha if we thought we could do any significant damage to their arsenal (on the 'off' chance that the incoming air strikes don't do the trick). We would probably need/want someone with demolitions training, though.

Demolitions, probably not, there are almost certainly a box or two of grenades and some rockets that you could rig to blow / shoot... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Don't be in the vicinity at the time...and hope you don't put a hole in the wall and let the lake in (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Well, if we blow a hole and let the lake in and it drowns us all... at least we took a few more of them with us, and probably ruined some of their equipment.

I can do demolitions if you want. I'd rather get out of dodge though: the air strike will probably do good things.

Just say the words and I will go along with it...you are the captain after all!

I'll shoot her with the big drones (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) if she comes our way. Assuming I get done hardware hacking them before she gets there.

I was thinking that she's likely to arrive before you hack them...feel free to be alone in the corridor when she turns up...or yell for someone to come and help?!?

...not that she can do much against 20 armour!

Sabs, you have control of the drones (I'll leave you to fill in the details of how exactly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )

They are basically Crimson Samurai drones overmodded with walker mode and mech arms. The 'turret' takes the form of a shoulder mounted weapon mount with grenade launcher and they have an LMG in their hands - this is probably overkill but should make up for the other drones I've nicked off you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif)

Handling +1
Accel 7/15
Speed 50
Pilot 3
Body 4
Armour 12
Sensors 3 (6)

Perception test to spot the lady: 11d6.hits(5) = 4 hits
However, assuming she has normal chameleon armor, I should be at -4 or -2 dice (depending on how much she's moving and if her other gear is concealed), so that turns it into only 2 or 3 hits.
Hopefully still enough to enter combat and target her.

You can 'see' her, barely and have this IP to fire (don't forget mods for being in cover etc...). Will let you have the glory shot before the two NPCs open up (or Sabs beats you to it...)

She will be on you at the end of the IP (assuming she isn't riddled full of holes...)

Well, Roberts isn't the best shot on his good days... (more of a leader than a soldier) but let's see what he can do without any AR enhancements (since he's paranoid, and didn't want to activate his commlink until he's had a chance to decontaminate it)...

Agility 3 + Firearms 2 - cover 2 = 3 dice = 1 hit

Since this is the "glory shot" I should probably use edge to reroll failures...

2 dice = +1 hit

So, 2 hits. She'll probably dodge, but the sounds of gunfire should be greenlight for the rest of the team to open up.

No time for talking!

Let a real man do it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
From Both drones, at once:
command(6)+gunnery(4)+VR(2)+smartgun(1)-5 recoil+6 recoil comp=13d6

These are long, narrow bursts.
1) 4 5 2 6 3 5 2 4 4 6 5 6 2 (6) hits.
2) 5 4 2 2 3 3 5 1 5 3 6 6 5 (6) hits

DV=6P+5P+nethits -1AP twice

Suck on this.
