Preliminary thoughts - Most of the characters in Naruto would be Mystic adepts rather than psyads, a lot of their powers can only be duplicated by spells. The exception would be Rock Lee, who would be an unarmed specialist. Opening his chakras would be simulated by the Attribute Boost power. Maybe add some reflex recorders. All of them would have varying levels of Killing hands, Combat sense, Critical strike, Wall Running. All summoning would be conjuration. Naruto would have Rapid Healing, his Rasenshuriken would be a form of Distance Strike if not an outright Blast spell. Spirit possession & Channeling would be him using the force of the fox spirit sealed in him. Sasuke's Chidori would be simulated by Penetrating Strike, plus some form or lightning aura Shikamaru would have Analytics Kiba would have Improved Sense: Smell, Attunement (Animal) metamagic, Empower Animal metamagic Hinata and Neji's Byakugan would be outright Clairvoyance. Whoa! I wish they would have done PACKS with those (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

The trouble with trying to emulate characters from a show like Naruto is twofold.
First, generally you will need to be a multi-initiate mystic adept to get to where you are a half-assed version of the characters from the anime. Hell, you need to be a multi-initiate adept or virtually a cyberzombie to make most completely mundane characters from anime (Noir, etc.). Second, mystic adepts kind of suck in SR4 - they are usually spread way too thin, and unless you are clever in how you build them, they won't come into their own until way later, advancement-wise, and even then they are unlikely to be as good as a "pure" mage or adept. |

If I'm going to emulate an Anime Character, it's going to be "Fist of the North Star" or "Gunsmith Cats", thankyouverymuch.
... OK, maybe "Read or Die". |

You actually could do Fist of the North Star in SR3, with killing hands D and delayed damage.

Especially if you went with Jet instead of Spike and his Piloting/Firearms/Explosives/Kung-Fu skill set.

Most characters from Texhnolyze should work as well.
We also had a few threads on here about building the Major and the tachikomas. I think Frank Trollman's matrix rules had a technomancer network based on the hacker group from Serial Experiments Lain (although you could forget about Lain herself past the end of episode 4 or so, there's no way to ever pull that kind of stuff off in SR). Your average slice of life show protagonist is probably doable with under 300 BP. There's plenty of non-superheroic characters in anime once you get past the usual shonen crap. Don't forget the Uncouth quality in any case, it's important for all those moments where you just stand around and stare at people angryly instead of giving a reply. |
