Older editions claimed that one would get emotional content from books when asensing, but not the words.

Older editions claimed that one would get emotional content from books when asensing, but not the words. QUOTE Street Magic, page 112
The physical details of real-world objects are not as distinct in their astral shadow counterparts. Features such as color, texture, smell, taste, sturdiness, text, and images are difficult to discern. Even if the book in the above example was already flipped open to the correct page by someone in the physical world, the text on the page is all but impossible to read on the astral. Partly, this is due to the nature of astral perception, which is more akin to a psychic sense than physical sight. Shadows, like many other terrain features on the astral, are influenced by the emotional charges of the physical objects they mirror. If the book were a significant tome whose words have had an emotional impact on many people, the text may have enough emotional resonance to be understood from the astral plane. |

Older editions claimed that one would get emotional content from books when asensing, but not the words. Whose emotions though? The Writer's Emotions (Did they even survive the printing process)? Or the last Reader's Emotions? Or the emotions of everyone who has ever read that copy of that book? Who knows? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wobble.gif) |

Hmm, missed that part of street magic (or read it but forgot it). Seems the wording have gotten less explicit this time round then.

Perhaps the thing that allows Spirits to go Free allows them to read as well?

Nah, I maintain they can't read… without a sight power, which I'd allow them to get.

It depends if they were given that ability by their creator or took time to learn after the fact.
Since first ed it has been a given that written owrds do not translate into the astral, books, screens or even street signs. A hand written book like a journal or a letter can carry the emoitional weight of the writer but printed books don't so again, a printed book would be a way around a corps magical sec as well. |

Which make Buttercup's obsession with manga kinda questionable.
Mebbe she's got a "normal vision" spell or ability. -k |
