I'm working on it... I'll try to get as many in a single scene as possible.. this current one is going to be difficult to pull off. which makes it worth it!

@Titus: From your last comment about not letting people with guns through, should we assume Brick gave Mary and Matt a quick pat-down and relieved them of their weapons? No idea what she's packing, but Matt has a taser on him for personal protection. He wouldn't object if security at the place he was going insisted on taking it from him, but he's happy to keep it tucked inside his suit if they don't. No. JavaLamp's post made it seem like people walked in with large weapons. If y'all had the pass-picture, y'all were not frisked. That was his directions. Just the large amount of guns completely threw Marcus/Brick for a loop. When the group gets in deep while shadowrunning together (or runs into his old gang), he will change over to Brick. He only uses that with people he would trust though. The characters y'all created don't qualify, yet. |

Even if I had been frisked, I would've been okay. I even lost the Manhunter I borrowed from Harl, so I'm not packing anything.

Out of pure curiosity, do we happen to have any PCs who are jazz fans?

Mieke is interesting. I never considered a blind shadowrunner. It's a very unique twist. Her skills are very complimentary to Marcus's (Brick's). I wonder what would cause her to Shadowrun though. It sounds as if she could have a good career playing jazz professionally. Did she get blacklisted? Does she have a secret rebellious side she hides from her parents despite loving them?

... Really interesting.. a musician manager with connections to the shadows (this is what I consider 'contacts', people you just know who can't help you there are just flavor)

Why, thank you very much! I've always wanted to try my hand at writing up a blind character. I have NO idea how she'll turn out as a shadowrunner, to be quite honest, and that's another thing I find appealing. I also have to admit I have no idea what would make her turn toward shadowrunning. Hopefully, if she has a hard enough downfall, it might be possible. I could actually see her as doing more as a part time thing. But then again, I guess we'll all discover togheter how things do turn out! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@Mister Juan
Hmm, well that might cause some conflict with the group... Maybe she stumbled in here and was forced to. She was partying hard in one VIP room, gets lost and enters the door across from Marcus. (Marcus would not let her into that side of the room because her appearance would not match a shadowrunner.) One of the other Shadowrunners threatens to kill her to keep her quiet and so she signs on to keep her life, Ok just a thought. Also Juan, a double post is not necessary to address two people. An @ sign followed by the person's name is sufficient. |

I imagine that Java will come up with a reasoned and entertaining way to tear her little life apart (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I thought the point was that the characters had no reason or desire to run the shadows, and that all happened in-game...? I may have misinterpreted that though |

No that's not a misinterpretation. The character isn't in the shadows or necessarily prepared for them, but at the same time a character would have some forces that would cause them to Shadowrun eventually. That's what I was saying. I was having trouble seeing that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It's not that I was suggesting any change to the character, I was just having trouble seeing how they'd fit in. I guess that's a problem for JavaLife and I should shut up and quit worrying. I got enough issues of my own LOL.

Won't be surprised at all if the private room comes with privacy features like wifi-negating material (or if the well-armed guards brought a jammer with them), but it seemed like the right thing to be checking. Mathew will be trying to do this as non-chalantly as possible. Invisible castle is down right now, but I can try to get a test up if one is called for.
EDIT: Its back. Charisma 5 + Con 1 = 6 dice = 3 hits. |

I'm a wee bit confused as to how Sara ended up in her current situation. Was she offering to break the encryption (or said something that got interpreted as such)? Because she really sucks at breaking encryption, so it isn't the sort of thing she'd generally say.

What I'm thinking happened here was she overheard conversation about the evidence that's going to destroy her life. In the interest of self-preservation, I'm not saying she said she'd crack it, I'm saying perhaps she said just about anything for a chance to prevent everything from coming out. I hadn't plotted everything out though. I'm thinking Craig couldn't keep his mouth shut and hinted at what was going to happen. I'm not saying 'breaking encryption' was the offer, per se, but I was reaching for a reason she'd have wound up here. Mayhap she took a hint from shows like Burn notice and bluffed about an extra level of protection beyond encryption or the protections on the carrier (and for the purposes of story, the bluff was successful) I'm reaching here and I admit it, if we can workshop out something to fit I'll be more than happy to run with it.

Forgive me if Marcus comes off as paranoid. His job is to watch everyone, so he generally knows if something's off but may not be able to figure out what.

@Titus - Paranoid is natural in the SR world. My flavor of it is no different, I'll try to shuffle things along if we're getting bogged down in any.
Also, I'd like to ask you to watch out on dictating for other characters. It can cause a lot of friction even when it's meant in good intent. Your observations of the world around you are vital to your game. Just remember that everyone is setting their own stages. @All - Actually, this brings up a good point. Every one of you has their own narratives to tell, and observing the actions of others is part of that. I'm not telling you to stop doing that, but I'm asking you to be careful what you do with it. Observing the actions of other PCs is a difficult line to walk. One person's observations even can seem like they're seizing control of another's characters. Please. Everyone avoid 'taking control' of others' characters. Let each character dictate their own details. Add your comments and thoughts as the details are introduced. I'm asking all of us to not step on each other's proverbial feet. Adding details or dictating actions for another takes from the other player their opportunity to do it themselves. Any thoughts on this? It seems like a pretty vital point for this game to me. Individual narrative feels like it's going to be the major fun of this game to me. |
