Before we get seriously into the IC thread I’ve just a few comments on how you might want to tweak you characters ‘in node’ to cope with the anticipated level of lethality...
Emerging Conflict is drawing to a close (once you make your minds up on a course of action (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) and I’m eagerly anticipating some more carnage in this thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Actually, I would love it if Sticks instead of being in an EVO, found himself surrounded by a Mecha? He would have the worlds biggest grin. I think he's going to stay Paraplegic for now. It's so ingrained into him that he is ... I think it wouldn't occur to him to change it. His mind thinks he's a paraplegic, therefore he is.
I was thinking he's in a Form Fitting Full Body Armor suit, and then slipped into a nice pretty Mecha combat suit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Sadly Joshua won't be joining us: hes only 14 and couldn't take the slow pace of dumpshock. Maybe when he is older...
You may all (even Gash) want to consider the armour you are wearing. I'll spend some time tonight reviewing Gash, and the earlier posts. A few questions to aid me in preparing for this. You have probably answered them elsewhere but they are scattered through this thread:
Its interesting that I designed Gash quite badly: never again will I do a primary magician with only magic 4, arcane arrester was a crazy thing to get, and astral combat as your 'one skill at level 6' is totally wasted compared to say spell casting or summoning, but I have quite enjoyed playing him. |

I think you'll need a weapon skill to use any guns it carries + gunnery for its mounted weapon but I think Sticks probably has those covered. You might want to change your drones (although the 3 rotadrones are quite effective when a nasty GM doesn't take them away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) ) Sadly Joshua won't be joining us: hes only 14 and couldn't take the slow pace of dumpshock. No, keep all your XP and the cash you've earnt...this is a continuation after all and shouldn't unbalance you too much against the new players. (They can always post more to catch up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm thinking I'll base karma awards in a similar way to the 2072 thread as it has been a bit of a pain tracking it in Conflict) You don't need to make an alter ego - you can go in as is - but you are welcome to do so if you wish! Astral combat will still be useful in this new game...possibly more so as the opponents are likely to have a slew of |

Thanks Aria!
I have been reading arsenal and quite enjoying it: I like the ideas of the Mechas, but for now I will go for the Michelin Man approach For those of you unfamiliar with the Michelin Man it means pile so much armor on that you can hardly move, and waddle everywhere. I like the idea of Heavy Milspec armor with some mobility and strength bonus's. I have to say the future battles look scary: those guns and explosives make spells look like firecrackers. You do need a spreadsheet to do the sums though: its a complex game system. I'll do the tiniest of tweaks to Gash (mana static won't work back there - for which I say hurrah, so I will 'swap it'), and I will swap the types of my foci. I'll swap it in the 'in simulation character only'. |

I'm not a very military person, although I enjoy games like this.
Talking to a few friends who are, they all stressed the buddy system. War is chaotic, but you can at least always know where one other person and stick with him/her. I quite like the idea of the buddy system, although as a person who is likely to be in two places at once (astral scouting) it might be awkward. I wondered what the rest of you thought. |

Well I had a rough start. Glad that this is just a computer game. Doing this badly on a run would be bad:
Summoning 3 successes Resistance 4 successes Drain resistance 2 successes Well that hurt: 6 physical damage, and I only have 8 in total. You nearly had a fun beginning: free spirit rampaging around. Thank god its a simulation and Gash can relog. Well Gash will be treating the simulation with a lot more respect after that I think! |

I haven't had time to really redesign Sticks. I was going to drop the drones, and just put him in a Mecha. The mecha can have his nexus built into it. It'll make him happy.
I don't have War! so I don't think I know the write up on the Dodge Guardian? Sticks has Automatics skill, and gunnery. He should be fine. Unless you're going to make me take heavy weapons, even though Automatics and gunnery really should cover it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I began the basics of the conversion in the first post of this thread but it needs lots of work to give it the bells and whistles! Arms, legs, rigger cocoon etc... Heavy weapons would be needed if you want to carry, oh I don't know, a minigun perhaps?!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Quad missile launcher on the weapon mount and you are good to go! I know weapon mounts are LMG or smaller but I'll allow a launch weapon too...a grenade launcher would work too... |

QUOTE I would think in the hands of a Mecha, the Automatics skill would translate for a minigun Just curious (although I want to play a mecha too...I might do that in a bit) wouldn't most weapons for a mecha be gunnery? I've just realised something for my next drone-o-master: gunnery is a vehicle skill...so really cheap for adept powers...ummm |

Yes, Gunnery is shooting weapons from a vehicle. Any vehicle/any weapons. It is a bullshit over-reaching skill (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) so I don't mind doing some tweaking. But Heavy Weapons is for a human firing a minigun. I would think a 12' tall Mecha firing a minigun would think of it like more of an assault rifle, than a heavy weapon. Unless you want to give me a 12' tall to scale minigun that shoots 200 caliber bullets (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

[*]Cpt Roberts may wish to invest in another IP so that he can be closer in speed to the others when combat occurs. A combat skill boost with your karma might be in order? I'm a bit behind, but I'll start looking at how I would want to change Roberts and pick a reason for him to return. |

In this game it really makes no odds because you can readily (ish) swap skills...let's just stick with an approximation of RAW for now... |

Well, Raw (ish) it would all be gunnery (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
But I can just swap out his automatics for a Heavy Weapons skill. It's the simulation altering things to match. |

I suspect that we are going to see how shadowrun handles War!
I too feel like the combat monster of doom: but I suspect so do the bad guys. I hope that the game system works with so many die! OK I cannot bring myself to go the Michelin Man route so: Wpn:
Armour
Military Shield 8/8 Armour. With retractable spikes in the bottom so that I can stick it into the ground when not using it! (same cost and effect as Foot Anchor?) Helmet 2/2 , Cap 5, Commlink settings 6, all common use at 6 Audio enh 3, Vision enh 3, Image link, Low light vision, Vision magnification I hate to think what we are going to be fighting that needs this much armour and killing power.... |

@Sabs: Ouch, that's a lot of armour! It's also going to cost a bucket load as I suspect you've had to overmod some of those items to cram them all into 10 mod slots?!? Don't forget a slot for your nexus!!! We'll do the standard x2 cost for overmodded items...
Also don't forget a smartlink for your 'eye' cameras @Seth: Not sure a human (let alone a gnome) can carry an HMG?!? But a high powered chambering on an LMG will have a similar game effect! @All: I think I may use the armour degradation rules for this game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) It'll be fun to watch bits of your armour drop off...and respeccing means you leave the 'game' and come back in as someone else (which is fine but that means you might have to catch up your team mates if they are deep inside some Azzie complex...although I will leave a couple of blank 'slots' of NPCs in the initial insertion team to allow the first couple of respecs to be in with you...) QUOTE I too feel like the combat monster of doom: but I suspect so do the bad guys. I hope that the game system works with so many die! You were the one that said die not me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) |
