If you're going to call me a hypocrite for thinking that the guy who wired up a dead animal to a remote control vehicle a demented fuckwit, you could at least tell me what about me makes that statement of fact hypocritical.

Do you get that worked up about cars with leather seats, too? Some ... wired a dead animal to a vehicle, OMG!!!11111111

So you called me a hypocrite because you wanted to namecall, and not because I said anything hypocritical?

Did I? It was a general observation, if you're vegan or sXe or whatever and reject animal products in general it was obviously not aimed at you.

But from your reaction, it sounds like the (leather) cap fits...

sXe doesn't equal a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.

So, what exactly is sXe? I do not ever remember hearing that particular designation.

According to Google and the Urban Dictionary:

Straightedge. It has the same basic principle (no drink, no drugs, no f*ck) for all followers, but each person makes it their own. Some examples: some sXe people choose to be vegans or vegetarians, abstain from caffeine, save sex for marriage (as opposed to a serious, committed relationship).

Straight Edge, a lifestyle popular among fans of hardcore punk. The original credo was "Don't drink, don't smoke, don't fuck, at least I can fucking think", but today vegan and animal rights beliefs have become pretty much the norm as well. So while it does not equate vegan lifestyle, the intersection is quite significant...

Funny, that's exactly what I offered to my wife last night (she seemed fine with it, assuming I can negotiate the legal concerns).

Honestly though ... the cat is dead. It's clearly been pretty spoiled in life. I doubt it would complain. This is definitely weird, disturbing even, but I wouldn't go so far as to suggest the guy is especially messed up (at least, not moreso than the average Dumpshocker).

Then you wouldn't go very far. Guy is a pathetic manbaby and needs respect for more life than he has.

The song I was paraphrasing just says "(I) don't fuck", but you're right, most adherents take that as "don't hop on everything in sight" and not some kind of virginity pledge

I would go as far as to say that all als sXe kids handle it that way; "don't fuck" is generally seen as a rejection of promiscuity.

By that point, the quadcopter was closer to deserving "respect for life" than the ex-cat...

The cat is well-sized, and it has an excellent coat. Cause of death was car, not neglect. I think it's reasonable to assume it was well cared for, since we have no evidence to the contrary. The cat lived a good life and its death, while regrettable, was accidental. However, the cat is now very much dead.

The guy converted the cat into upholstery for his toy. That's certainly weird. Not something I'd expect most suburbanites to have the stomach for. But there's no harm done to the cat.

From an ethics standpoint, this is certainly much kinder than raising a cow in tight conditions, feeding it whatever rubbish is cheapest (including other cows), then killing it intentionally at the height of its life for the specific purpose of stealing its skin. Yet despite all I just said, my car is upholstered in leather, I wear leather belts, and I love hamburger.

I certainly understand the emotional reason for not wanting to convert a member of the family with a name and a personality into a toy or work of art like this. However, unless someone can present an actual, rational reason why using the remains of Cuddles the Cat is somehow terrible, but murdering, skinning, and wearing Bob the Bull is a-okay, I really can't see what all the fuss is about. It's a cat, it's cute, it's cuddly, but it's also very dead through unrelated causes, and does not much care what you do with its remains.

I'd actually agree with Darksong; the quadcopter does in fact show more signs of life, and therefore more 'respect for life', than ex-cat.

I went back and forth on it, but decided to pull the trigger, which, since a mod has switched it to a link, looks like it was a tad too far, and I understand. Helio Kitty is funny to some, distrubing to some, WEIRD to pretty much everyone.

I apologize to anyone that's squicked out. I shouldn't have put the pic in directly. That's all on me.

It's one thing to talk about the current rigged bugs (Bomb-sniffing bees, spycam ants, and so on) but a cat is somewhat more personal.

So, again, my apologies gang.

I may have generalised a bit there.
BTW I looked up the "Corner Shot" you mentioned and found a youtube video with that clown from Future-weapons, clever idea if a tad malicious.
If anyone has seen Ghost Recon Alpha with the hover drone armed with an MP-7 then you can imagine the synergy here.

This is both hilarious and dangerously brilliant.

Although I imagine putting plagued fleas inside of a container and releasing them from a normal drone would be just as effective ...
