Oh no doubt that it is disturbing, but a quick review of the photo makes it easy enough to tell that the cat is stuffed, the ears wouldnt be straight and even if it were alive, they would be laid back, the cat would definatly not have its mouth closed, it would be yowling, the eyes wouldnt be wide open nor glassy, etc. As it is, He put a creative (albeit morbid) twist on taxidermy and engineering.

Funny, that's exactly what I offered to my wife last night (she seemed fine with it, assuming I can negotiate the legal concerns).
Honestly though ... the cat is dead. It's clearly been pretty spoiled in life. I doubt it would complain. This is definitely weird, disturbing even, but I wouldn't go so far as to suggest the guy is especially messed up (at least, not moreso than the average Dumpshocker).

According to Google and the Urban Dictionary:
Straightedge. It has the same basic principle (no drink, no drugs, no f*ck) for all followers, but each person makes it their own. Some examples: some sXe people choose to be vegans or vegetarians, abstain from caffeine, save sex for marriage (as opposed to a serious, committed relationship).

Straight Edge, a lifestyle popular among fans of hardcore punk. The original credo was "Don't drink, don't smoke, don't fuck, at least I can fucking think", but today vegan and animal rights beliefs have become pretty much the norm as well. So while it does not equate vegan lifestyle, the intersection is quite significant...

I would go as far as to say that all als sXe kids handle it that way; "don't fuck" is generally seen as a rejection of promiscuity.

By that point, the quadcopter was closer to deserving "respect for life" than the ex-cat...

The cat is well-sized, and it has an excellent coat. Cause of death was car, not neglect. I think it's reasonable to assume it was well cared for, since we have no evidence to the contrary. The cat lived a good life and its death, while regrettable, was accidental. However, the cat is now very much dead.
The guy converted the cat into upholstery for his toy. That's certainly weird. Not something I'd expect most suburbanites to have the stomach for. But there's no harm done to the cat.
From an ethics standpoint, this is certainly much kinder than raising a cow in tight conditions, feeding it whatever rubbish is cheapest (including other cows), then killing it intentionally at the height of its life for the specific purpose of stealing its skin. Yet despite all I just said, my car is upholstered in leather, I wear leather belts, and I love hamburger.
I certainly understand the emotional reason for not wanting to convert a member of the family with a name and a personality into a toy or work of art like this. However, unless someone can present an actual, rational reason why using the remains of Cuddles the Cat is somehow terrible, but murdering, skinning, and wearing Bob the Bull is a-okay, I really can't see what all the fuss is about. It's a cat, it's cute, it's cuddly, but it's also very dead through unrelated causes, and does not much care what you do with its remains.
I'd actually agree with Darksong; the quadcopter does in fact show more signs of life, and therefore more 'respect for life', than ex-cat.

I went back and forth on it, but decided to pull the trigger, which, since a mod has switched it to a link, looks like it was a tad too far, and I understand. Helio Kitty is funny to some, distrubing to some, WEIRD to pretty much everyone.
I apologize to anyone that's squicked out. I shouldn't have put the pic in directly. That's all on me.
It's one thing to talk about the current rigged bugs (Bomb-sniffing bees, spycam ants, and so on) but a cat is somewhat more personal.
So, again, my apologies gang.
