Im okay with this as long as they do something to alleviate just how unclear and open for ten different ways of interpretation 4e is. Discussion threads are great and all, but being able to discuss cool concept without arguing the meaning of the RAW would be nice to.

The biggest thing that irks me is the "More gear" comment. Really as if SR does not bog down at times into Mallrun the Game of Black Market Acquistions, where the most common question is what book is that in. Play not shop.

Awesome! So excited for this! Not excited about having to read the EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS that I read everytime a new edition is released...

Fifth edition Deadlier combat, really was this a problem? Another matrix revision. Shadowrun could do with an open Beta if it really wanted to fix what's wrong.
Two failed projects cards and DMZ resurrected. Will these incarnations get the audience they need?
A boardgame? Ok so some of this is obviously reaching for some new audience.
As a staunch tabletop guy with limited time I'll hold out hope for the new edition and the Stormfront plot. But with the glaring problems we've seen since revised 4 came out I'm prepared for "2013 year of the flames".

Oh live feeds sound interesting.

Stoked. Love it. Hated 4th edition so much we Hacked another game's rule set just so we could play with the awesome SR Setting.

Backer for Both SR Games via Kickstarter, so super excited for those, and anything more Shadowrun (card games etc) is always a good thing.

As someone said above, this just means SR seems to have good backing and support, so that's always a good thing!

Deckbuilding Game: Meh, nice for a short game but the genre never excited me too much. And the market has been saturated twice over
Miniature Game: DMZ part 2? Meh. Also, another heavily saturated market.
Board Game: Playing the evil side for a change of perspective sure sounds like a cool concept, if the mechanics work I'm in.

Which leaves the elephant in the room...the prophecy has come true, CGL did not release errata till doomsday and now announce an errata edition on doomsday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Mechanically, 4th Edition is the first edition of a whole new game and accordingly has its flaws, so a fixed Edition was overdue. I only wish I could muster more confidence in CGL's abilities to produce that...as things stand, reading that "Catalyst had the pleasure of fact checking Jordan’s story" caused a spontaneous sigh.

I wasn't thrilled with 4th ed's rule-set. I am optimistic about a retweaking of it into 5th though. It's nice to have a clear direction for the game line as a whole. Now I just hope it pays off.

And the wondering of what will come begins...

I see some chance of success for Boardgame, especially if they let Pegasus Games (the German publisher) handle it. Pegasus is one of the large publishers of Euro-Style tabletop. In that market, they know their shit. Not sure if an American company is capable of making such a decision, though.

The notion of Catalyst being asked to fact-check anything after War...

But it made sense. Shadowrun Returns is supposed to be in-continuity with the tabletop universe, so Jordan needed to make sure anything SRR said wasn't contradicted by other gaming material. Since Catalyst is the caretaker of continuity, he asked them to fact-check.

YotC was never and will never be Catalyst Material.
That was still Fanpro, if i am not misremembering.
So it was his own Material. And SRR is set in the 2050s.
While SRO is set in the 2070s. As is SR4.
If they keep that up at least, SR5 will be in the 2090s . .
Rebooting to 2060 would be an idea, to bridge the gab between the two.

No hate here. Just not thrilled. SR4 works fine mostly, but I can see that a new edition is due. SR4 ran longer than SR3 and 2, so it's okay on that front.
Still, it is an uncertainty, and I hope the changes won't be too grave. Personally, I don't need deadlier and grittier, nor do I need more toys to play with. I didn't even need the gearporn releases.
My most sincere hope is that character conversion will be possible and easy to do, since I do not really get to play very often and I would like to see them develop a bit more.
So yeah. I'll have a look, but I don't hold my breath.

And I'm really just uninterested in the cross-genre stuff. Worst case scenario is, it tanks, best case is it brings new players to the RPG. If it looks good, maybe I'll even buy it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I hope 'grittier and deadlier' indicates the return of LMSD Damage.

Everything there is something I already do, so I'm either going to be really happy with my new SR games and broke, or... less broke.

LMSD was neither gritty nor deadly. *shrug*

The Live Feeds sound interesting too.

About the game I got to the little birdie 1, according to the message I'll never solve it on my own.
So I guess I need your help, or something?

EDIT: Oh stupid me, it's probably a twitter related thing. Probably has to do with this new Jackpoint site...

I'm reasonably optimistic about this upcoming edition. I would like to see smoother Matrix rules, and I would like combat to be a bit more lethal, so this is a bonus for me. The idea of having gear be a bit more modular, giving them options, is also to my liking - it fits with the evolution of the setting, I think.

The other things? Well, we'll see. I did own DMZ when it first came out, so I might get the figures - even if we don't wind up using them for the tactical combat, having minis for the game would be nice. The card game, I'm curious to see what it is like, I might be able to use it as a springboard for sessions.

I'm definitely wanting more information.

I'm certainly curious about the deck building game. It says that it's cooperative which is different from the other deck builders I've played (and don't own personally).

The minis game I'm a little wary of, as it appears that your gang/army/faction can grow in power by playing, which seems to me to be a balancing problem (don't get to play often? Hope you like losing).

5E I'm on the fence about. Ideally it will come in modules that simply overwrite sections of 4E and allow players and GMs to decide which sections they want from which edition (and of course, just how good are these new matrix rules?)

SRR/SRO: excited

The board game looks interesting, but will wait to see how it turns out. I highly recommend that Catalyst looks at attending a convention like Dreamation, Dexcon, or Metatopia. Metatopia being a con specifically for game developers to find interested players to given an honest feedback on their in-progress board or role playing game (Dexcon and Dreamation are for more established games, but I have seen a handful of games that showed up to demo a WIP).

The SR tabletop sounds like Monopoly with SR names.
