Hi Folks
i just finished the game and i have to admit that i really liked it. Of course it was not state-of-the-art, but it was a quite good revival of the basic SNES game. But it was quite short (only needed one full afternoon to complete) and now i am hungering for more. Are there already fan-made-contents that are comparable to the offical game? What about official DLC? It would be great if you could help. Thanks. |

Yeah...i like it official. Somebody already checked and playtested one of the community-made DLC´s? Something under it, that can be recommended? Ah, and Stahlseele: do you know if the Berlin-Add-on can we played with your old char. or do you need to make a new one?

It was fun for what it was. It had moments of really capturing some of the old charm of the SNES and Genesis games (thankfully not the FPS though). However it had some elements that were very lackluster. Cyberware affecting only cooldown timers for example. I found this to be broken, as were the abilities of decking and casting for the ultimate character. The game is a little unbalanced in this way. Someone that tries to do everything (cyber, decking, magic) is limited by the number of slots of action buttons.. uh what? I wasn't really down with this.
Also, utilizing Harlequin as an equal in the end game was eyebrow-inducing. Poor guy kept dying because he couldn't hit the bug in the adjacent hex with a shotgun. Too bad he wasn't cooler than that in reality. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

Making a good UGC takes a lot of time, especially if you don't want it to be extremely railroaded.
So far, most of the UGC that I have tested are either the first chapters of episodic releases or extremely short (and often simple) missions. But I think that with time we'll see better and better content. |

The Deadman's Switch mission was pretty decent, if a bit linear. More importantly: it was poorly-received enough (mostly railroading) that the people making user-generated content need to prove they can do better, and it was well-made enough that they'll really have to stretch to actually be better.
Right now I'm not enjoying my purchase much, but the first chapter content people have put out give me hope. |

If you got it on Steam, there's a fair bit of decent user made campaigns downloadable from the Workshop.

I went and downloaded a couple scenarios, but cannot figure out how to load them into Shadowrun returns. Do you know if there are instructions written anywhere I could follow? |

It's been .. almost a couple months... since I played with the game, but IIRC, you have to copy the data to a scenarios folder in the game directory, then use a secondary menu option to find it in-game. I'm pretty sure there were instructions on the official (non-Steam) website forum.

I've been working on some stuff for it - fairly large, multi-mission campaigns - but I got derailed last month due to RL stuff.

Usually in the description for the download itself. Alternatively, use the mod manager if you can. I use it for skyrim, haven't try returns yet so I don't know if that changes anything. But nexus is pretty sweet. Steam has a bunch of restrictions that keep you away from the really cool mods (at least in my opinion). |

But nexus is pretty sweet. Steam has a bunch of restrictions that keep you away from the really cool mods (at least in my opinion). There's a mod manager? I've unzipped a folder into every folder in the SR returns directory and Shadowrun_Data but nothing comes up to let me load the mission. I'm assuming the game just looks in a default folder and tries to load some kind of mod file there. I also dumped the contents of each folder into the directory and Shadowrun_Data but no dice. Kind of ironic...I can get a DOS game from the mid 90s to run more easily using DOSBox than I can load up a mission in SR: Returns. |

I played around with SR:R yesterday and can't figure out where I stuck the addons. I think I used the Steam interface, to be honest. If you go to the front page for Nexus, there should be a link for their content manager, which will install the content from their site after you pick a particular addon. I think Nexus has most of the stuff that's on Steam; it looks like most of the content authors are posting their work in both places.
