Neophyte Runner Group: Members Posts: 2,229 Joined: 19-May 12 From: Seattle area Member No.: 52,483	This is intended to be a topic thread for the OoC discussion and management of my campaign based around a group of public employees charged with the solemn duty of investigating crimes and accumulating evidence for the benefit of the community at large, and the prosecutorial service in particular. The team leader (NPC): Cal Current team members: Julia Elder - Information forensics Jim Svendsen - Medical forensics Cadwgan ap Hywel - Magical forensics Two more team members should be shortly forthcoming as per prior arrangement. Background events: the team has gathered substantial evidence on the notorious Akata murder on Queen Anne hill, and is starting work on other cases, while expanding under Cal's leadership. Typographic conventions: Oral communications Electronic communications Internal monologue Organisational convention: I may, in the interests of keeping things moving, announce a deadline, after which the story shall move on, and unresponsive characters shall be presumed to be carrying on doing just what they were doing hitherto. One of her parents is an accountant. Ophelia worked summers as an accounting clerk when she was younger. She took economics and accounting until she discovered psychology. Ophelia was seriously tempted to go into either clinical psychology or industrial psychology. She changed her mind about clinical after spending some time working a ward for violent patients. She finally decided on forensic psychology, hoping to find endless puzzles to solve. Sadly, Seattle's criminals usually aren't that bright. (At least the stupider ones are funny.) Because most of Seattle's criminals aren't brilliant serial killers, Ophelia's been trained to handle white-collar crime as well. She can also process a crime scene in a pinch.

Since then, he's bounced a bit from job to job, working at DocWagon, doing a bit of research, and most recently landing a job with this novel murder-solving outfit. He's had something of a charmed life, free of great rancor and significant consequence, although he's seen enough of each during his time with DocWagon to have some appreciation for his good fortune. He's now focused on forensics, although this turns out to include a surprising amount of field work, for which he's far more dubiously qualified. Far more at home in the lab than out in the field, he's nonetheless managed to muddle through largely through force of personality.

He isn't snobbish or particularly offputting about his past; it's just one of those elf things, you know. He's been in Seattle longer than he's been with the department, so he's not completely lost around town. His fondness for coffee is only matched by his fondness for coffee klatches and nice suits, and he's usually happy to share his coffee and any pastries with team members and other co-workers. After all, it takes a lot of people to pull the pieces of a murder investigation together. He appears to be considering going back to school part-time to achieve further degrees in his magical studies, but so far the nature of the work hasn't left him with enough brainpower to spare. He unwinds with the local theatre and music scene and dinners and dancing and other similar entertainments, and occasional charity work. None of this is half so obvious as his lanky frame; at 6'5, he looks like Sephiroth might have if he'd checked the psychosis in favor of stylish business suits and sunglasses. He usually has a travel cup of Starbucks with him, although not always.

While putting on a exhibition of his latest works there was a attempted assassination of one the court nobles. When the confusion cleared the authorities apprehended a suspect to the crime. While most people at the event was sure of the guilt of the suspect, a mysterious noblewoman who had enemies in the court. Rael found is recollections of the event seem to differ from the consensus of the royal court. After pondering this overnight he went about using his artistic skills and total recall to recreate the scene of the crime. Rael's holographic recreation of the scene was so perfect it caused doubts of the official story among many in the court. When court members, including his noble patron, implied that he best reconsider his presentation he stood by his word and his work. His evidence convinced the authorities to reexamine the evidence . Eventually the noblewoman would be cleared and a popular member of the court would be implicated. Because the implicated noble has many friends, including his Patron. He wound up effectively exiled from the the Tir He went to the UCAS where he spent ten years at a university where he spent time teaching art During that time he got his UCAS citizen changing his last name to human ancestral name of Peterson. Along with getting his fine arts doctorate he also learned science skills so that he could better enhance the reality of his art. Over the years the police recruited Rael to use his artistic skills to create suspect sketches. As he continued to work with the police many of them noticed his phenomenal memory and perception. Recently Rael has been given a offer of a regular job with the Seattle CSI. Recalling the experiences that led to his exile Rael decided to accept. After taking the extra education need to be a investigator he is ready to join the Seattle CSI where will be able to use his talents to express truth. to the benefit of all rather than the pretty lies that only benefit the evil and corrupt

The new owner had already converted the other parts of the park toward commercial and business uses when one of his daughters convinced her father to convert the blocks for adjoining business office into housing units. She claimed that the positive energy she sensed who make for a great artist community. After the building were converted to housing the daughter's assertion seem to prove correct as artists of various kind flocked to Solsbury Hill. The community at Solobury Hill is a friendly one where the residents try to get along. because of the original design the apartment spaced close to together so if you forget to tightly close you blinds your neighbors will find out what you wear or don't wear when you go to bed. While on the edge of a lower class neighborhood, the crime is much lower on the average because of factor as the local tight-knit community, extra security provided by the nearby renovated businesses add some members of he community either being or having spouses/friends who work in security or law enforcement. One of the annoying problems the community the has is the existence of 'Rico'. Rico is believed to have been created by one the companies that once worked out the business park before the second matrix crash, others think that it might be some techno-type spirit created by the crash. The current problem with Rico is that it thinks it is a muse. It takes great delight in "inspiring" the artists in the community, at all hours in the day. While this can be annoying no one has figured out how to make Rico stop. At this point the neighborhood is grudgingly tolerating Rico. For all it's frivolity it otherwise runs a very efficient network that grant the artists better net access than they would normally have and on top of that Rico even provide useful inspiration once in a while. It's the sterile environment and monitoring which is a pain. Cadwgan's watcher has already wandered off - presumably it found nothing, but he can set up another one and send it on its rounds. Make sure to let me know who goes to which venue. Credentials for entry at both locations would be wirelessly provided. The Knight-Errant guard over the scene at West Ruffner would be cranky, but cooperative. The people at Binogen will be professionally courteous, and anxious for it all to be quietly settled. Jude would find that there are a fair number of drones at her disposal, mostly of a utility type. One of the most interesting ones from the investigative points of view is called the PNWTO, and it is designed with flexible limbs equipped with gecko tape and suckers so as to be able to walk on ceilings and light fixtures above crime scenes and examine them without contaminating the scene. Another one which is of some interest is called the TapirCraft, and it has six legs with narrow feet which can avoid stepping on evidence, while pushing out a sampling head to examine and take samples of trace evidence. Both of these drone types are loaded with vast arrays of sensors, as well as banks of sample vials and bags, and she can requisition up to three of them. Interfacing directly with security systems? That she'll have to take care of herself.

To all appearances, an eligible bachelor to make the daughters of executives swoon. Eliza Chatworth-Gleason is a very expensive, highly reputable lawyer. She has her own firm, in which she's apparently the only lawyer although she employs a small staff of paralegals and secretaries. Xeria Voynia is a lady of good family who apparently has no job other than to find an eligible bachelor, according to the lights of her family. She's very highly educated, with a doctorate in psychology, but shows no sign of ever having put it to remunerative use.

Clone tanks take a lot of power, for pumps, for sanitation, for computing, for nutrient management, for ancillary environment management, and that also puts a burden on the environment in which they are - they put off a lot of heat. There's no clear way in which these things could have been powered in this building. And that's not even covering the piping, the nutrient stores, the ... yeah. Nobody's ever been running clone tanks in here. Never.
