<announcer_voice>
La-a-a-a-a-a-a-dies and Gentlemen! Announcing today, here at the dumpshock forums, a new game! In this corner we have the Gamemaster. Weighing in at 170 lbs, he allows any generation system in NSRCG to be used. And in the other corner --- we'll there's no one yet! But he's looking to face off against 4 or 5 other people! </announcer_voice> Enough of that silliness (<gonzo voice>What silliness would you prefer?</gonzo voice>) and onto the serious stuff:
We'll be playing a module that I wrote myself set in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. Why? Becuase I live there and I find it interesting to use my stomping grounds for a setting :) I had two people contact me via PM with questions and character ideas already, though I haven't seen sheets. So, the pot is open. The module has a main run with a followup opportunity if you all as players want to keep going with the characters. I've run this module ones in the real world and would like to iron out some of the difficulties that we faced in that game. So if Elfie or Soluna are looking at this -- you did this one already. Doesn't mean you can't play this one, but don't give anything away if you do!! Post questions/concepts below and send .sr3 files to dashifen<at>dashifen<dot>com. |

I've got an elf street sam coming your way. I just have to put him into NSRCG instead of .doc. This'll be fun.

I've never tried playing pbp, but I think I'll give it a go. I'll have a character for you by midnight edt.
Computer problems have delayed my submission. I'll have to sit this one out. This post has been edited by Scarecrow237: May 18 2004, 05:08 AM |

Is anyone interested in playing the group decker? if not I'd like to try, that is, if Otaku are allowed.

Go ahead. I'm looking at either a PhysAd samurai, or an elven negotiator who skillsofts his combat stuff.

Dash, would our characters have to be local or could they be in town for the job?

They don't have to be local. In fact I was assuming that they wouldn't be.
I've received a character from Soluna but she's played the module before and just wanted to do it again. She's agreed that if others want to play she can watch from the sidelines if necessary. Otaku are fine, Nikoli. We've got a bunch of sams and no mage yet on the list above so if anyone wants to try something new, the board is a good place to try it :) |

With 2 sams, a decker and a thief i'll probably do the elven skillsoft Face. I'm open to any PM suggestioms on how to do it ;) I'm shying away from a mage because i'm pretty ned to SR (only played 1 run) and the mage looks like the most complicated character type.

nah -- decking's easy compared to rigging in my book. If you want to try magic, I'd say go for it Number 6. No better time to try than online when you can look stuff up in between posts to make sure that you know what you're doing
There were a few skillsoft threads on the boards in the last few weeks. I'll try to post you a like if I can find them. Shadow: send me his sheet :) |

Just so I'll have it later, how much for a good (read: professional) skateboard in your world? And would it be covered under athletics?

Heh, I tried running a game with a decker 2 years back. Threw out The Matrix after the first session.
Lookin for the threads now..... Can we start with cultured bioware if it only comes that way? Trying to figure out what to do with the extra 500,000 I have... |

Character away. I didn't include a real BG, but I will write that up later. Basicly, ex-cop turned merc turned shadowrunner. He's pretty old, but being an elf, that's not a big deal. Oh, and he's showing illegal because he has cyber retinal mods and nicitating membranes which NSRCG erroneously thinks is incompatible.
On skillwired face. I wouldn't chip your main social skills etiqutte/negotiations, or your main combat skill (DIMAP chips give dumpshock when you change chips). But besides that, the rest is fair game. In general, go for any skills you'll be using rarely (demolitions, launch weapons, etc.) or in a non-time critical environment (breakdown/repair, technical skills, etc. -- time critical in that 1 action isn't going to make a difference) as chips and the rest as natural. |

If nobody's playing a mage character, I'd kinda like to play a Wujen mage...somebody Japanese, with faith in the kami in everything.
If you've still got the space, mind you. |

In my world I have no idea how much a skateboard is .... google time .... <1 minute later> Okay, the most expensive skateboards I could find were $90. So, we'll round up for inflation to 100 nuyen even and to make it subtract nicely. You asked in email what it would do if you hit someone with it. And, I would say it depends on how you hold it. If you're swining it like a bat with two hands holding it from the end, I'd say (STR+1)M with a reach of 1. However, if you were holding it by one of the axles with the skateboard back along your forearm I'd say then that you're looking at (STR+2)M but a reach of 1. We could argue, if you want to, wether or not that would provide you a +1 to impact armor in melee similar to forearm guards, but I'd say no because you don't have two boards. Both of these attacks would be stun. However, if you want to, you could put a thrusting point, perhaps a retractable one that could be extended as a simple action. Then you'd get to do physical damage rather than stun, but I'm not sure it'd do as much physical damage because the thrusting point would be closer to a dagger -- perhaps (STR+2)L. Any one else have any thoughts on this one? |

Forgot about that. Just write the complex forms down that you have in the bio section so that I know about them. |
