Does the flare penalty also plays when you're not trying to see something, like if I just want to cast something internal to me.
If it isn't, I'll cast Trid Phantasm to get some reinforcements (or the illusion of such), otherwise I'll just dive for cover and try to figure out what's going on. |

I would apply the flare penalty to that only because you need to place the illusion to have proper effect.
