Oh, I guess, I have the forum set to show more posts per page then. Also, that link does work for me. Weird. Does it work now (might need to reload the page)? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanee Yes, works now. |

Thanee's post points out something I've been meaning to ask, sunnyside. Do we use colour codes for different kinds of communication, or do you want to forego that system?

I'm new to GMing on this forum. I haven't used colors, but I vould give it a try. Are you using the scheme in crossbows signature? Would you use the matrix color for subvocals?
I was going to say Selina is at least close enough to start interacting in the soft start. Maybe to start working in if you're getting a new place new job, and how the kid fits in. I see you're already on it. |

I don't think it matters too much, which colors are used, specifically. Don't even really have to be exactly the same. Using colors alone makes it immediately obvious, which parts are speech/texts and which are descriptions (the rest).
I typically use orange for "speech" and thoughts, and a bright green for << matrix >> communication. Purple for "astral" speech. Generally, colors that are easy to read (red on the dark gray forum background is not one of those). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Bye Thanee |

Oh shit. I posted at the same time as you, sunnyside, so I didn't see your instructions. Willie doesn't have a logic analyzer. He has a cerebral booster.
OK, well, it looks like I'll have to roll something for Willie and see what happens. Oh! I'll edit his exit to mention a "pretty lady". That might help. I'll throw in a point of Edge to simulate his eagerness to see Selina. CHA 2 + Etiquette 1 + Edge 4 (giving rerolls) = 7 dice, exploding: OH FUCK!!! Critical glitch. Just like Willie. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif) I'll spend another Edge to turn this into an ordinary glitch. (Hope these Edge dice come back before the next run!) |

Looks like Bongo is going to have to talk Willie out of a bad spot yet again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) You can leave it as is with a clean getaway, but Willie has given the impression of a promise to actually come back. He could also get out of it by going with the flow and dropping some nuyen to fit in. But "Old Home Week?" |

Willie picked that up from Bongo. It might be a Canadianism. Essentially refers to a get together with people not seen in a long time. |

Hopefully he's using up all his bad luck just having fun with the locals. Might want to save that last edge though.
Let me know when Selina is finished. Maybe consider athletics/sprinting? The nature of Baltimore construction will make it challenging to find an uptown spot aspected to shamanism. The rest would be easy. For Paul,we'll, he has stuff to work through already. But I'd add there isn't a domestic drone. However there are wireless locks on all the doors, and the exterior ones have cameras. Brewster presumably has administrative access on all of them. Most modern things, like the food pouches, have at least an RFID chip. Sorting all that out is sniffer rolls. |

I'm afraid that life is happening at the moment. Between 3d printing and crawling through books for my GURPS interpretation of the setting, I don't think that I have the time to contribute here.
My bad, but have oodles of fun. |

You can contact Brewster once everyone arrives and has somewhat settled in. But since we
still have some folks interested but without characters yet, that number is still up in the air. At minimum there should be one more, which will be an NPC hacker. I think we have other things covered. A little less nuyen to split if you have Tubesnake be the hacker, but his skillset seems more limited to being able to protect his drones, and hackers sometimes rely on edge. But in any case you already seem a fun crowd we're set even if nobody else joins. |

Selina should be finished now (only need to fill in the details on Brewster (Connection/Loyalty?) and the Fake SIN (Rating?) he provided). Oh, yeah! Tubesnake looks up from his home renovation plans after a little while, and glances around. "I reckon our friend didn't give any specific instructions yet. Anybody know if we're supposed to head somewhere other than here? I sure could use a grill scrapings breakfast. If not, I can fry up a roadkill hash and soykaf." Hey, sunnyside, this reminds me of an issue on which I would like some direction from the GM. The Artisan skill (SR4A p. 126) is an incredibly broad skill, with specializations in "Carpentry, Guitars, Painting, Sculpture, [and] other crafts". I figure Cooking comes under this as well. I put Bongo's Percussion specialization under this. But, extrapolating from the list of specializations and the skill description, Bongo with an awesome skill rating in Artisan should be, along with musicianship in just about any musical instrument, a whiz at framing houses, painting portraits, cooking in the style of Peruvian masters, etc., etc., etc. I took the Enthralling Performance Adept Power just for Percussion, because it seems egregious to do as the book suggests (SM p. 176) that anything under Artisan would apply. Is Bongo really good at all those things? With Skill at 6, bolstered by the Inspired Quality at +2 and the Improved Ability Adept Power at +4, he is at Skill Rating 12 for Artisan. 14 for Percussion! Few people on Earth would have a higher rating in this skill than Bongo Slade. Now, there are some examples of people in real life who have multiple talents in skills that would fit under the umbrella of Artisan. Leonardo da Vinci is the greatest example that springs to mind, but there are many in the present day, too. +++++++++++++ As an aside, I can immediately see some real synergy with Tubesnake (carpentry), Selina (clothing design) and with the HomeBoyz (flash designs on vehicles)! |

Huh. I just noticed Bongo's Hawkeye Quality doesn't apply when he has his spiffy contact lenses in. Oh well. He would have gained that Quality in childhood or even at birth, and technology does sometimes have its advantages. And who knows, the time might come when contact lenses are not an option.
Systems with built in redundancy are more resistant to failure. |

FYI I'm on business travel and don't have my books or personal laptop. So only phone type responses for a
I haven't typically given contact ratings for people met in game. Though since you haven't met him, you could assume loyalty at 1 and your fixer could assess at least a connection of 4. Through your fixer you could have arranged for the Baltimore SIN. Though SINs from elsewhere in the UCAS still work here. Rating 4. |

OOPS!
I neglected to take into account that the cerebral booster's LOG bump does not affect starting Knowledge skills. So, I'll have to adjust those, and then the contacts that come with them from sunnyside. I'll get on that in the next day or so. |

I'm rather suspicious Koekepan missed the bit about the crawlspace.
However pbangarth obviously read it and was waiting for a reason to get into it. Taking the offer of the "secrets" from tubesnake as the means to know about it. Presuming you're all fine with that, the hatch would indeed open if the light fixture is pull down. There aren't even any hidden explosives tempting as it is for having a character find all this before the game even starts..... Being that tubesnake would have found the stuff first, they'd presumably know what was up there and what Bongo is up to. The duffle bag has a set of boots with a quick hook latching system, an Urban Explorer jumpsuit, two more mags of regular ammo for the SMG, a big bag of Almond Joy candy bars, a rating 2 medkit, a grappling hook with 50 meters of rope, and a bike helmet. In the pockets of the jumpsuit are a meta link comlink with its battery disconnected, a beat up certified credstick with 50 nuyen, a little bag with clip on tusks, and a latex mask with brunette wig. The the mask and tusks would give you a female ork. The gear all seems functional, though only the rope, candy, grenades, and medkit seem new. The comlink is very basic and mostly empty, but has a SIN matching the mask for a 5 foot 4 inch Ork female named Isabella Garcia. Regarding the artisan skills. It does seem exceedingly broad. I think maybe they never bothered with it in playtest or anything. But perhaps in the age of AR we can assume it conveys something about understanding artistry, while online instructions can walk you step by step through sculpting or cooking. It would be assumed you can't do things independently without sufficient practice, but you don't need to spend Karma to pick up a new instrument. |

I didn't miss it at all. I read it with some attention to detail, in fact, but I was quite happy to let it ride while I looked for other clues to point it in a bigger picture direction. It certainly paints a picture of previous occupants and their fate, in combination with the removed doorstops.
