I saw a night one gun adept somewhere on the forums a while back with most of their powers geased for night use. Any chance someone could post it, or maybe another? I believe it was designed to be a sniper/run and gunner. Nifty if possible. If not, here's another munchkin challenge! Make the perfect night sniper designed to be highly mobile, jumping across rooftops and such. =D

I like to stick to canon and stuff. Quickie sniper-type character, emphasis on jumping. Used BBB, Companion, and MITS

Breakdown, 123 point-buy
25: Physical Adept
15: Night one
30: 30 Skills
48: 24 Attributes
5: Resources

Attributes
Body: 4
Quickness: 8
Strength: 3
Charisma: 4
Intelligence: 6
Willpower: 3

Skills
Athletics: 6(Spent 8)(11)
Rifles: 6(11)
Stealth: 6
Etiquette: 4
Clubs: 4(Spent 5)

Powers
Improved Athletics 6(Geas Night)(1.25)
Improved Rifles 4(Geas Night)(1.5)
Improved Stealth 1(0.25)
Freefall 6(Geas Night)(1.25)
Great Leap 6(Geas Night) (1.25)
Improved Sense: Vision Mag(0.25)
Improved Sense: Thermographic(0.25)

Edge: Perfect Time (1 point)

Edit because I screwed up adding up power points.

Second edit because Mode works from memory and randomly decided on an edge. So since the edge can't be chosen by metatypes, he decided to just throw away the extra point on something else.

So choose the edge that lets you know when the sun's going down!

Okay, here's a quick and dirty version from me. He's an albino, to get an extra point of Combat Pool (and because you're already gimped in daylight and already stick out like a sore thumb, making the two biggest disadvantages of albinism almost redundant for this character). Built for sneaking, hopping from rooftop to rooftop, and sniping from a distance - at night. A concept that leaves him vulnerable to a lot of situations and is a bit overfocused, but could be fun to play, depending on the particular campaign.

Here is the breakdown:
Night One: 15
Edges: +6
Flaws: -6
Resources: 5
Attributes: 56
Skills: 22
Magic (Adept): 25
TOTAL: 123

Albino Night One Adept - Sniper
Attributes -
Body: 5
Quickness: 9
Strength: 4
Charisma: 3
Intelligence: 6
Willpower: 7
Essence: 6
Magic: 6
Reaction: 7

Initiative: 7 + 1d6
Combat Pool: 11
Karma Pool: 1

Adept Abilities -
Freefall: 4 (Night Geas): 0.75
Great Leap: 4 (Night Geas): 0.75
Improved Abilities -
>Rifles: 6 (Night Geas): 2.25
>Stealth: 4 (Night Geas): 0.75
Improved Senses -
>Vision Magnification
Sixth Sense: 4 (Night Geas): 0.75
Traceless Walk

Active Skills -
Athletics: 6
Etiquette: 3
Rifles: 6
Stealth: 6

Knowledge Skills -
(Languages)
English/Cityspeak: 3/5 R/W: 2/-
Japanese: 3 R/W: 1
Sperethiel: 2 R/W: 1
(Other Skills)
Booby Traps: 5
Corporate Politics: 2
Physics/Ballistics: 3/5
Seattle Black Market: 5
Seattle Rooftops: 6
Seattle Sewer/Utility Tunnels: 4
Underworld Politics: 4

Edges -
Aptitude: Athletics
Bonus Attribute Point: Quickness

Flaws -
Allergy: Silver, Severe
Bio-Rejection (from Albinism)
Vindictive

Contacts -
Armorer (Level 1)
Fixer (Level 1)

Gear of Note -
Get a Remington 950 with a high-powered Laser Sight, Silencer, and a Shock Pad. Also a grapple gun, climbing gear, stealth line, and maybe even a low-altitude parachute. And some decent armor - like a secure jacket or camo suit (with Gel Packs) combined with a full suit of FFBA (with Thermal Dampening). With 20,000, you have enough to get a Low Lifestyle, a Basic DocWagon Contract, and have enough left for a decent selection of gear. If you wind up with 5,000 left over, get an extra Level 1 Contact - either a Cab Driver or a Fence.

**Edit** By the way, he also has Allergies to Sunlight from being a Night One and from Albinism - depending on how your GM combines the two (having one make the other go up one level, or combining the Flaw points), he could either have a Moderate or a Severe Allergy to Sunlight.

Attributes: 30 (60)
Resources: 5000 (0)
Skills: 24 (24)
Edges: Ambidextrous 8
Flaws: True Believer (Tir Tairngire) (-3)
Dependent (-2)
Phobia, Severe and Uncommon (Mimes) (-4)
Total: 123

Attributes:
Body 5
Quickness 8
Strength 4
Charisma 5
Int. 6
Willpower 6
Essence 6
Reaction 11
Initiative 3d6

Skills:
SMGs 6
Edged Weapons 4
Stealth 6
Athletics 4
Etiquette(street) 2(4)

Adept Powers:
Improved SMGs 6 (Geasa: Only when using Custom-Grip weapons)
Improved Senses (Flare Compensation, Visual Mag 3, Improved Scent)
Improved Reflexes 2

Gear:
2x Uzi III ¥1,200
2x Gas Vent 4 ¥2,000
2x Custom Grips ¥400
Lined Coat 700
Capsule Rounds (Pepper Punch, 30) ¥180
Regular Ammo (60) ¥120
2x Tomahawk ¥400
Total: ¥5000

Contacts and Knowledge skills to taste.
It's probably not as munchy as some but also a bit more versatile and already has obvious character hooks built in. Adding in improved skills on the Edged Weapons would be a priority with the next initiation since each point would add 3 die (even a single point would give him 12 total).

This isn't a munchkin character. I've read so many of these threads that I just decided, what the hell, why always someone only useful in one situtation or in one set of circumstances? So I decided to make up a night one gun adept just to say like, "Look, you don't only have to be useful if X = Y".

Anyway, it's made with BeCKS V2.

Race = 30 Karma
Magic = 75 Karma
Attributes = 152 Karma
Skills = 158 Karma
Resources = 30 Karma
Contacts = 5 Karma

Total 450 Karma

Body - 4
Quickness - 8
Strength - 3
Charisma - 5
Intelligence - 5
Will Power - 4

Reaction - 6 (10 - Surprise)
Initiative - 6+1d6

Combat Pool - 8

Skills

Clubs/Stun Baton - 2/4
Pistols - 4
Pistols B/R - 1
Rifles - 5 (8)
Rifles B/R - 2
MA : Akido - 3
MA : Evasion
Athletics - 5 (7)
Stealth - 5 (7)
Etiquette/Street - 2/4
Negotiation - 3
Biotech/First Aid - 2/3
Computer - 2
Demolitions - 3
Bike - 4
Bike B/R - 2
Car - 2

75 Karma for Knowledge Skills

Physical Adept Powers

Freefall - 3 - 0.75
Great Leap - 3 - 0.75
Improved Athletics - 2 - 0.50
Improved Stealth - 2 - 0.50
Improved Rifles - 3 - 1.50
Improved Senses, Select Sound Filter - 0.25
Improved Senses, Thermographic Vision - 0.25
Sixth Sense - 4 - 1.00
Traceless Walk - 0.50

Gear (couldn't be arsed really)

Middle Lifestyle in Renton - 2 months prepaid - 10,000
15,000 nuyen more for assorted gear.

Contacts

7 x Level 1 contacts to pick.

Personally, if I was actually going to spend some time on making the character and hope to use it, I'd probably lower quickness a bit, use the points to get some more cash to buy a bike and maybe add a few other skills, maybe a couple more contacts too.

If you don't use the MA rules in CC. Then swap Akido and Evasion for Unarmed Combat/Martial Arts 2/4 and buy another Level 1 contact. If you don't use BeCKS, tough, I guess.

This thread gave me the idea to try something. These are only the relevant parts of the character. I actually wrote out the rest as well.

Night One, Adept

Edges/Flaws
Aptitude: Athletics

Skills
Athletics 6

Bioware
Enhanced Articulation
Synthcardium 2
Reflex Recorder (specialized: Athletics(Jumping))

Adept Powers
Improved Ability: Athletics 5
Great Leap 5
Freefall 4

How far do you think the gap between those buildings that Trinity jumped across was in the first Matrix movie?

Dude, if it's such a big deal, then fucking say something! I can't tell you how sick I am of people whinning about software that is still in beta not being perfect, but refusing to do anything about it. There is a disscussion topic in this very forum dedicated to bug reports and questions, but noone bothers to even say anything. Instead, you idiots spend your time acting all snotty and superior, running your mouth off about all the flaws in someone else's project without even bothering to try and fix it. You are the kind of slack-jawed, lazy slobs that keep Microsoft's crapware popular, because you're too damn lazy to think for your own self and know that there are better ways to do things.

Well, then don't feel too alone because I hate it when people rant about a topic they're completely and utterly ignorant about.

If you had a clue whatsoever, you'd know that McMackie does know about it and it has been brought to his attention on multiple occassions yet still likes to include it in there without any indication that it's wholly unofficial (since so many people around here are clueless sods who rely on it entirely too much). So why don't you take some of your own advice and stick to ranting about topics that you actually have a reason to rant on about, mmkay? Mmkay.

Oooops! Yes, that was a typo on my part, that somehow managed to work itself in to both places...

As for spells w/Physical drain - you can always cast it at a force lower than you have. It's easier buying the spells from the start than learning them at higher force later.

For most things I agree that Magician's Way adepts aren't the way to go, but there are exceptions when those spells and spirits can be a real help.

Hmm. Okay, after checking all of the threads (except the Old forums which are offline) and all my email, I can't find any bug report about "True Believer" What "occassions" (Did you mean: occasions)?
After checking the entire EDGE.DAT file, it's the only non-canon (except the TSS additions) which is non-canon. The only one! I would thank you for bringing it to my attention but ....
I depend on the help of volunteers to keep the DAT files current and correct. I'm thanking any and all for their assistance in making it a better program. Thank you volunteers! As you might expect in the thousands of entries, errors will creep in.... I need your help to fix them. For that reason, the files are in a simple text format that anyone can edit. I wrote a DATeditor to help with entry. I respond to all emails and suggestions to the forums. Whlle I can't do everything, I try to do what I can.

Considering the sheer number of mistakes -- both innocent and intended -- you've made in your program, I don't think you have any right to point out a minor typo, especially when using it as a form of insult. Doubly so since you have a tendency to pass off your blantant mistakes as the responsibility of everyone else but you, as made abundantly clear in your last post (in reference to it being their responsibility to edit your files to correct any problems).

I know it's been mentioned at least once on Dumpshock, though I think it was back before the changeover to this software, and I think back as far as when the board was still that sexy brown color. But I'm not going to bother searching for it simply because 1) I don't use the program and 2) my original statement was more a general statement about the people who rely on a poorly-coded program instead of learning the actual rules.

Oh, and to fall to your level, did you mean "who I've found" in your last comment? How about the period you left out before "What" in your first paragraph? Or how you left out the double spacing between your paragraphs? Or... <just continues on with mistake after mistake after mistake you've made>

In checking your profile, I discover... Dr Funkenstein, I presume. With your typical wit and banter you've once again demonstrated your innate superiority
Youve always been very consistent. Yove never complimented anybody but those who've bowed to you and aknowledge your superior knowledge. Your help is offered with a sneer and a sense of smugness. You're overly critical and less than helpful. I'm willing to admit it. I don't listen to you anymore. You would prefer it if nobody used a character generator as that would invalidate all of the hours you've spent memorizing and cataloging the rules. This I'll admit it as well... You do know the rules better than I (you win, hurrah...feel better now?). "Real men don't need no stinkin' character generators. Real players only need a clean sheet of paper!"
I wrote the program to help the newbies and experts. Less time spent generating characters and more playing them. I believe that there are people playing now that would've have found it impossible to begin. It seems you would prefer that only 'experts' and people who have memorized that game to your exacting criteria be allowed to play.
You've spent a great deal of time and effort criticizing others in some effort to feel larger. I've been around as long as you (since the fancy brown themes) and I seen more than a few of your posts. You don't help people. You beleager them, you intimidate them, you harass them. They NEVER have a point. Only you are correct, only you have the one correct viewpoint. To put a technical spin on things: Your Etiquette skills stink. I imagine your actual computer skills are very good to compensate your lack of real people skills. Compromise is not in your
lexicon.
Now that I know who you really are, I'll follow my stated policy and no longer respond to you.
Bottom line: My stated goal is to help people, your's is to apparently denegrate and criticize them.
P.S. Weren't you banned from this board?

Nice rant. You almost completely managed to curtail the obnoxiousness of your last post ("do you mean 'occasions'" feh) while, with a fascinating display of hypocrisy, have the nerve to say that on one hand I never offer any constructive criticism and on the other admit that you've ignored said constructive criticism because you don't particularly like me. <thumbs up> Good job.

And no, I never was banned though I do occassionally get asked to calm down a bit when I get my feathers a little too ruffled (which I admit does happen despite my sincere efforts to not do so; and rest assured that I'm concentrating *very* hard on not doing so in response first with Eyeless Blond and then you). Probably because despite your personal biases, the majority of my posts around here are geared towards discussing the game and helping newbies when they ask questions.

I just happen to have a simple philosophy: If you're going to do something like code a character generator, you should do it right whether you're getting paid for it or not. When you start throwing in random house and/or third-party rules for something so many people sadly take as a legitimate resource, you should at least put some effort into insuring its worthy of that status... and the one thing you most certainly shouldn't do is whine and complain and then tell everyone that it's their duty to fix your mistakes. Because it most certainly isn't.
