Sedna- Is it reasonable to assume that Dragon knows where the drop is located with their stuff that Susan would have set up for them? If so, can we skip ahead to being at the drop and recovering their stuff?

Frag it all! The boards just lost my rather detailed post to Erebus, grrr . . . .
I'll get it back up Cedric, this is just a warning to everyone to watch out for system trouble.

EDIT: I will replace the post, but it will be brief as I am running out of time before leaving my place and you and I are trying to hit a tight deadline :)

Copy all your posts people, that's what I've been doing all week, storing my posts offline so in case this happens...the system still hasn't worked out all the bugs yet it seems, so you definitely want to back your stuff up.

Yep, I have a file that I copy all posts of mine and WinterRat1's when they pertain to my character. It's easier for me to spell check anyway.

:D Just in case I haven't made it abundantly clear that Eyes is in no way a "hard core runner," and not even really all that professional.

Also seems to have lost my answer to WinterRat, bandit, and ronin, that it's okay to cut ahead to the Susan pick-up: nothing imminent. Actually, you're clear to at least 5 pm. Just don't go further yet, okay? :)

ronin: don't forget Daedalus is "with" them through telephone and sensors, although he'll probably be working mostly through Dragon.

I'll stop here unless you prompt me to go further. I do not want to over-run any of your plans. BTW . . .there is never a bad time to practice being social.

I'm stopping with Dragon here, so when the meet between Virgil and Inleat starts prior to his arrival , Sedna or Bandit feel free to write in Dragon when/where appropriate. I'm guessing he'll make it about 15-30 min late, so however you two want to play it, he can arrive when you write him in. So someone please just write him in at whatever time is deemed appropriate, until then assume he's been in transit and arrives at X time.

Eyes- Heck if we were to count, how many of the characters really count as 'hard core runners'? Even Dragon, Daedalus, and Virgil consider running to be a 'sideshow' to what their 'real jobs' in life are.

My people- In case you haven't noticed yet, I've got my 'rhythm' as a GM back. So if you have stuff you need or want from me, feel free to let me know.

Scrapheap and Paul- In regards to raising stuff, in case I wasn't clear at some point prior (may have gotten swallowed at some point and I missed it) I thought the karma guidelines mostly covered it. Let me know if you've had problems, but essentially, when your character has time to train, just post something to that effect and keep track of how much time you spend. At the point you've completed your training, consider your skill/attribute raised.

I'm not going to meticulously track EVERY raise by EVERY one of my players, or I wouldn't have time for anything else. I'll just trust you're are playing it straight and audit you all periodically. ;) Beyond that though, just let me know what you're raising and when so I have a rough idea what to expect.

I'm thinking that very few persons in the shadows set out to become hardcore runners, or start that way. Circumstances thrust most people into the shadows; where they go from there depends on temperament and which way they choose to evolve. That might also explain why those first few months in the shadows have such a high mortality rate.

But for about three hours in about two, I'm on-line for the duration, today :)

Personally, I'd vote for the missiles that get shot at people as having something to do with that mortality rate. :)

WinterRat-
Thanks again for the reminder. My storyline hasn't allowed for any training time so far, so I'll have to wait until it does.

Are there any skills that are "trained" simply by use? I'm thinking more the soft-skills such as etiquette, area-knowledge, etc.

Not to mention getting jumped by not one, but two high force elementals within the span of two days . . and controlled by two seperate individuals no less :)

Case by case. Ask me if you think you have a specific instance that would be applicable. Also note that 'training by use' time is more likely to apply at lower skill levels. As you get higher however, sometimes the only way to learn is to consciously train.

Using Area Knowlege as an example, you could gradually become more familiar with the layout of the blocks and stores and stuff just by walking the area over and over. Knowing who really owns what building and where the utility lines are (stuff you'd be likely to know at much higher levels) aren't things you just pick up. You have to research (i.e. train) to get that knowledge.

So case by case, and that is the rationale. Does that help?

Hell, why don't we just toss in getting shot at by snipers while we're at it?

On second thought, maybe we should shut up before Sedna decides to really take the gloves off. :spin:

The funny thing about GM ambushes is, each and every player (or most of them, at least) would do the exact same things to their GM controlled enemies if given the chance, so you can't really say it was 'unfair'. More like, 'blast you for doing to me first what I would've done to you if given half the chance'! :S

One of the things I love about the environment of these threads are the seven or so simultaneous discussions going on [/dizzified] :)

For my part: does "normality" mean that she's back in her apartment? In which case she should instantly know what objective time it is?

No.

Normality = something she is encountering that she has encountered before, acting in the same context/manner here as in the 'real world'.

Her son is still standing there looking at her expectantly, waiting for an answer to his question and breakfast. It just so happens the voice has decided to speak up in her head while she's dealing with her son.

How's that?

Hehehe. . . so very correct. In fact, it makes me think that we need grendel to insert one of his trademark evil laughs into this line of conversation :-P

Just for the record, those laughs of his really scare me. As a GM, not a player. Just for all you players under Grendel who'd like to know that. :D

If he has any to spare after all those directed toward his players :spin:

(In the background, I'm webbing. One sudden server change, one unexpected downtime, one attempt at overhauling the whole thing, one new player brought in, two sudden rapid movements on storylines, and one major distraction by WinterRat :P and I'm suddenly seven pages behind. But I'm down to five now.)

Thanks, WinterRat :)

No smiley, so I'll assume the question's gen: what on-line structure did you introduce me to, last week?

Slipshade, Scrapheap, join the club: we wanted to re-open this for the new year, but it's been absolutely crazy until just a couple of weeks ago. Nice symbolism. Terrible scheduling around those real life things.

Heh heh. Oh right...that distraction...

Anytime. It was a pleasure. I have no doubt further pursuit of that distraction will lead us to new and interesting insights in regards to one another. :)
