Ok, to get some idea of the movement in my last post, you may want to check this video out. (or, if you just like martial arts stuff, its pretty neat as well):

(We need a "DOH!" smiley) I should have thought of that too. It never occured to me that you wouldn't need an air filter for a liquid cooling system, though I actually have seen systems with both fans and liquid cooling the main reason for the fans was it was cheap. Feh, I have to start doing more lateral thinking excersizes again. I'm getting too linear.

Hm, what to do, what to do...

Slip- to be honest, I personally am not that sure. Anyone else know? Sedna's our main force behind the blizzard, but I'd guess some time in the afternoon traffic starts getting affecting, judging by what Cedric says, and it probably hits a white out, or close to it by nightfall. But I could be WAY off on this, so someone feel free to correct me if that's the case.

Well I'm not an expert, but according to the calendar it's not until late at night that the weather turns to heavy snow. The rain by itself might be a problem, I imagine Seattle city streets are never dry long enough to build up that coat of oil that makes light to moderate rain dngerous for driving, so I imagine it's not until the snow arrives the night of the 8th that things start to get messed up.

We have a calendar?

Man that is going to make getting to the meet interesting. Looks like a good time for a Storm Spirit to lessen the intensity a bit in my area, but first a bit of rest. :)

'course we do! Haven't you been paying attention? :)

Actually Sedna only mentioned it once, and there doesn't seem to be links to it anywhere I can see, so it's perfectly understandable you didn't notice. She put it over here.

Max has a Westwind which has an autonav of 3, do you think that will adjust to road conditions?

Wait, there are vehicles that come with autonavs of 3? Where?

(Edit) Oh, wow there's a lot of them. I swear I need to actually read some of these books people lend me once in a while. :P

Anyway, from what I recall with my limited California beach bum knowlege of snow, there are only two problems with driving in it:

1) It's slippery. This is what tire chains are for, but honestly you don't *really* need them unless you are planning on driving fast or up and down hills. Seattle isn't very hills, is it? Besides which, I'd be surprised if people living in Seattle didn't have tire chains standard with their cars.
2) It gets deep. I think by now we're not worried about the snow being too deep to drive in, as people seem to have been able to get to the Respite just fine.

Conclusion: don't gun it, and watch out for the idiots who do ('cause there's *always* idiots who do; I swear they breed in this kind of weather or something), and you ought to be fine. :)

OK I think everything is pretty much linked correctly on the first posts so it should be reasonably easy (easier) to navigate amongst the threads. Let me know if I missed anything that should be added!

Don't worry about how much internet time you will have. Worry about having a great vacation! A reminder to everyone as we approach a common vacation season, just post a message about your absence as soon as possible so that any arrangements can be made. Otherwise just have a hell of a time . . .LiTS will be waiting when you return.

Eyes, the snow in Seattle does not get very deep at all. Occasionally maybe six inches or so but the people in Seattle don't react well to snow, almost never are chains actually used, in 15 years I've used chains twice.

Please remember that Seattle continually makes the top 10 for worst traffic conditions in North America.

Seattle is somewhat hilly, not San Francisco hilly, but hilly enough in the Downtown area. The area between I-5 and the water resemble the Bay Area in the Downtown area down to about 4th Street where it becomes level. Redmond in to the outskirts of Issaquah are foothills of the Cascades and tend to be lots of hills that flatten out. Tacoma, Federal Way, Fort Lewis area are not very hilly at all, large numbers of pine trees, lots of small streams and rivers. The areas north of Kirkland I'm not too familiar with, lots of trees and wooded foresty stuff.

The problem isn't with people gunning it, its the fact that Seattle large number of people pushing through poorly maintained roads which are too narrow for the amount of traffic. Even a minor fender bender in the Renton S-curves can back up traffic for miles and the floating bridge over Lake Washington on I-90 is stop and go for three or four hours surrounding rush hour. Hwy 520 over the Lake is faster but its on the north side of the Lake.

Minimum would be 1 box per hour, if you got at least 1 success on a body or willpower roll you'd get it all. For simplicity's sake, assume if you sleep for 8 hours you'll get rid of all your STUN damage.

You still need to deal with the physical overflow however.

No problem Eyes, I always thought we had harsh winters on the east side of the Cascades, I went to law school at Gonzaga in Spokane and the winters were nasty. Then I started going to Seattle regularly to spend weekends with my wife's family and the people on the roadway drive me nuts.

Of course I then visited Minnesota in November and discovered what winter really was. I've since then stopped complaining about winter, although I continue to reserve the right to complain about Seattle drivers. I never believed that the sidewalk was an appropriate passing lane until I drove down 4th street in down town Seattle at 4:30 p.m.

WinterRat1 - yah but physical takes a lot longer as I recall and I wanted to get rid of most of my modifiers. So I would have no stun damage and a light physical wound after 8 hours.

Correct?

That is assuming you don't wake Max earlier with some sort of GM nastiness in mind. :)

And the secondary problem is that people in the area just aren't used to it. People in snowbelt areas shrug at a couple of inches. People all along the N.American Pacific coast (from Vancouver south) panic. Add to that a general focus on automatic over standard transmissions, and the interesting (lack of) modern roads, and

There's several places with laws against chains because of what they do to the roads. I don't know if Seattle is one of them. Myself, I've driven in some major snow conditions, but so far I've never needed chains. Only one of my friends in a snowbelt area ever has ... but she also has a very steep hill for an extended driveway.

Between Cedric's comments and the rediscovery of the makeshift calendar, did the underlying question get more or less addressed? :)
