Hey everyone. I got back from my trip yesterday evening and have caught up on at least some of my ~33 hours of no sleep. I am reading any posts that I missed right now, but I probably will not be able to respond until tomorrow because I have to catch up on back-logged university stuff first :(
The_Eyes: Such a "small world" moment. I guess we are both scientists of some discipline. What is your field of study if you do not mind the question? bclements: Thank you for your well-wishing. It is great to see that we have a community developing . . . .enhances the entire LiTS game if you ask me :) |

Chemistry. Specifically my little trip to the APS was as an undergrad researcher, working under a bioinorganic chemist. It was fun, but academic research is probably not the career for me (which is bad 'cause I want to go to grad school and that's pretty much what you do as a Chem grad student. :P) How 'bout you?

bandit: I forgot to add in karma for your Sheepdog column (sorry! I'm catching up too), so you've got a revised total of 3 for the previous week. I edited the post.

Two ways to go about it. You have acid etch in the shop, which will do a number on the metal, but you'll have to use all of it in order to see good results. The time will be about two hours, but the etch liquid is expensive, 500 :nuyen: for the liter bottle you have. Alternatively, you could corrode the metal through galvanic corrosion by sitting them in salt water and passing a low-level electric current through the bath. This is cheaper, only running up your electric bills by 200 :nuyen: for the month, but it will take longer, at least two weeks to see any significant amount of corrosion. |

That last post read anything like right? I was trying to get a little of James's zone-out-factor there, and explain why he doesn't like being around lots of people by trying to peek inside his head a little. If it's confusing just let me know and I'll try another approach; most of the reason I do this stuff is to improve my writing/description ability, and feedback's the best way to improve.

You could always bond some corrodable material to the outside (welding, glue, etc) and rust *that*... but maybe I'm not supposed to be making OoC suggestions?

Eye - I thought it came across just fine.
I do play by post for the same reason. I would really like to improve my writing skills and this is the most enjoyable way to do it. Slip |

The_Eyes: I am just finishing up B.S. degrees in chemistry and biology. It is an honor to be roleplaying with a fellow chemist. My trips to the APS was part of my undergrad research, which I will be continuing as a M.S. student in the fall. My specific area of interest is structural virology.
There are a lot of opportunities available for industry research after grad school, especially for a chemist. Not to mention the fact that the industry jobs (especially with the drug companies) pay quite bit more than do academic positions. |

Oh I know. I wish I had had the money to go straight to grad school out of college. Unfortunately I didn't, and now I'm looking at the prospect of applying without any good academic letters of reference; not a fun prospect. Means I'm really gonna have to study for that GRE 2. :)

Hey all!
Yep, you're reading this right; I'm online and back in business! So hide the fine china, bolt the liquor cabinet, and hide your good looking relatives .. okay, I just can't keep up the charade. :) It IS nice to be back, though, and I'll be around for the month at least. Guide's Honour. :grinbig: |

Glad to have you back Morgannah! I'm looking forward to following Cosmo's adventures again. :)
PS Just for everyone's knowledge, Morgannah has been in contact with her GM, Grendel, during the time she's been away, so we did know what was up with her. Letting us know you will be gone does not have to take the form of a public service announcement in the OOC thread, just as long as we know what's up with you, that's good enough. So yes, the procedures do actually work! ;) |

Slipshade, Scrapheap, Sedna- Look for responses to your posts (Sedna my post as Dragon; I believe Salvation does not need my intervention at this moment?) sometime tomorrow night. Just letting you all know I'm aware I'm up for all those storylines.

A couple of rolls, just in case they're actually used. Almost don't want to post these; they're so bad. :P
[ Spoiler ] Hmm, I think I need to program a search assistant for my search assistant. :D |

All optional rules from The Matrix sourcebook are in use.
That could have been a PM, but I wanted to have the last post in all the LitS threads. Makes me feel like I'm doing my job. :) |

Slip- Your luck held when it counted, that's all I'm gonna say. OK you're up first. Post your action in the IC thread and any necessary rolls that you anticipate in the OOC thread. Oh, and we're in 'combat mode' now, so watch your time. 3 seconds per combat turn. You don't have to keep an EXACT count (too much work on both our parts) but you should not be advancing by more than a few seconds per post. See the gun battle outside Tommy Wong's with myself and Virgil for an example of time flow if you need one.
