That's part of the plot of Shockwaves. For reasons made clear later during the campaign Proteus starts by making a hostile takeover attempt on the FBV. This goes horribly wrong when Nachtmeister's successor turns the tables on them both spiking their budding partnership with Maersk (see SoE's Scandinavia) and providing fuel to turn the Ares/Proteus aerospace competition into something much bigger. Towards the end the animosity degenerates into the "naval battle in the North Atlantic" mentioned in SOTA64 - though calling it a "naval battle" is misleading... the cover of Shockwaves actually tells a better story of what goes on.

Huh. With work on undersea things, aerospace intrests, human-modification for hostile environments, and self-contained arcologies (with an intrest for those that can move!), I'd think that Proteus was working on multi-generations Arcos in space or, more specificly, other planets. Settling Mars, for example (Near the pyramids/face on Mars or near the 'Dargon Bones' from wayback.)

That'd explain why they have expansion room in their buildings.

"How do you escape the Horrors? Go somewhere that tehy don't know about/can't live. Helloooo, Mars!"

I'm guessing that Nachtmeister was in the Proteus group as well as the 'Lofwyr Revenge Squad'? Or are they one in the same? Hmmm...

A lot of answers were already given in the previous pages of this thread, including the list of Proteus unwilling backers. Spinrad or Oakforest do not appear anywhere (besides, they had issue with Lofwyr some time after Proteus creation). Wilhelmina Graff-Beloit is not directly involved in Proteus either, though it's likely a trick from Nachtmeister that her son Dietrich, who don't give a shit about her vandetta, became CFO of Proteus.

I guess we can start spilling the beans now...

The real story is the following: in June 63, a series of incidents pitted Ares and Proteus in the Sea of Japan and the North Sea, resulting in several ships damaged or sunk on both sides.
The destruction of Ares' Thule facilities (Proteus denied responsibility and nothing proved they did it) led to retaliation by Ares, that Thor-shot Proteus's Romo arcology off the Danish coast in July (Romo was sheltering the core of Proteus secure internal network, 'Deep Blue').

The whole point behind 'Thoring' Romo was to open the can to infiltrate a team of runners amidst the chaos.

I caught the list of who's behind Proteus, but not who was who from teh vocal bit (Thomas? Phillip? Who are these people?) and certainly nothing on what Proteus was actually up to. What their 'Master plan' was, in essence. IS it to launch offworld or something?

The apostles' names are nicks. The real powers behind Proteus are influential individuals in all the corps infiltrated by Proteus, who have different plans.

The only part where all the Schockwellen plot is weak (and that's certainly the only real flaw) regards the ends: Basically the motivations of the people in charge are very varied. But there is no ultra-evil überplot to take over the world/resurrect Elvis/put up giant kaers/prepare the horrors' comeback/create a Noah's Ark in space before destroying all life on Earth or anything like that.

This was personally translatted by myself. Who is not very good at German. I did it word by word, so it is kinda bad. I made a few rewrites of a sentence. As a note words in brackets are the original word in the product. I could not find a translation. Also any help with making this cleared up. Also what does the end en, t, or e to a base word mean?

So a while ago I ran a campaign in which Proteus featured in the background, and now I'm about to revisit that campaign (using SR4 rules, but picking up the story in 2063).

Proteus is likely to be involved yet again, probably more centrally. I'm not a stickler for clinging to SR canon, but I try and fit in with it wherever possible- and everything I've read on this thread and elsewhere suggests that my story will fit quite nicely.

Still, despite the bucketloads of info above, I am desperately curious about the contents of that "Proteus: The Full Truth" section mentioned. OK in the above is explained which corps are involved, and roughly what Proteus's goals are, but does this Full Truth contain anything else worth knowing? Like who the founders were, what they knew that others didn't know (and if they did indeed know about kaers- how?), and what their individual motives were?

Be awful grateful for any additional info! :rotate:
