Hmmm. If you have a bokken handy do a thousand shomen cuts and tell me how useful your arms are after the first 500 or so... :P Prolonged battle is precisely the reason why one needs to learn how to cut with his center and not his arms. :) |

You realize your arms aren't the only part of your body that fatique right?
YES you cut with your center, but your body isn't immune to fatique. Upper body strength helps. More appropriately, upper body conditioning. Do not forget that when weilding two weapons, your arms (and especially your chest/back/shoulders) have to pick up the slack of controlling your weapon, which in turn, will fatique them. ...and how many Katana have you seen shatter??? I've seen them bend, I've seen them break, but never shatter. Maybe if properly made in your opinion means stainless steel =) |

Yes, I know. I wasn't trying to argue with you. I don't doubt that you know what your talking about. I think we would both agree that your arms will tire far faster if you're relying more on uppper body strength than technique. Probably you know this from experience as I do. The use of strength to compensate for lessened control is a good point though. I don't have a lot of experience with using two swords, but weilding the sword in one hand (in iado for example) requires the same trade off. |

Everyone take a deep breath, and let's talk about sliverguns instead. 8) |

So if you have a cyberzombie streetsam in full plate mail with a greatsword and an Ares Viper Slivergun against an upper-teen-initiate-grade magician's way adept who follows the way of Bushido and uses a katana waterfolded 10,000,000 times so that the edge is the width of a quark and who has an ally spirit that he or she has sex with regularly, who wins?

Depending on the capabilities of the ally spirit, either. If the ally spirit is capable of seducing the zombie-knight, then the samurai wins easy. If the ally just distracts the samurai, then the knight wins easy.

no real follower of the way of Bushido would use a blade that was only folded 10,000,000 times.

What if the spirit unlocks the secret mystical powers of the sex ninja?
And MFB, I left out a leading 2^ . Still kinda meager, I agree. ~J |

my money is on the adept, actually. all that armor leads to a mighty, mighty penalty on Qui skills. i suppose MBW-4 could make it possible, though...

I think that that is the biggest downside of no longer having an off-topic forum: All the alpha-male BS spills over into threads that should be devoted to game mechanics. If the topic in question is realism and combat, you're screwed. |
