Alright, it seems I'm not the only one who thought of a blind mage (even before it was a flaw) and apparently there are other quadriplegic riggers out there (also a concept of mine before flaws). What other typical handicapped archetypes exist? Especially now that there are published flaws, what flaw-archetype combo do you see most often? :cyber:

I've seen a quadrapelegic mage who only goes on runs in the astral form with his ally spirit taking care of physical tasks; a blind physad--a la Daredevil; and a quadrapelegic decker or at least everyone swore he was until the charisma 8 elf leaned over him...

The quad mage intrigues me. Is that common? I forgot about the daredevil lookalikes. Yes, definitely add those to the list. I remember the huge topic recently debating the "ultasound" sense power for adepts. Meh.

Yeah and when you can ehance senses for .25 power points, it's really easy to add them all for a daredevil concept (using the extra flaw points for cool advantages).

FYI, you most likely can't take incompetence firearms and pacifism. The incompetence needs to be in something you use at least once per run. If you're a pacifist, most likely you won't.
I've seen amnesia up the ying-yang, but mostly it's with street sams. Also popular are vindictive and combat monster for them. I've seen a fair number of riggers with phobias or allergies. (Strangely enough, I've never had anyone in my group take amnesia. They've brought it up a couple of times, but after I started laughing evily at all the fun I'd have, they decided against it. Poo.) |

They could have used Flashbacks to counter Amnesia.
Just as a Braggart is almost certainly a Liar. And don't forget Perfect Memory and Amnesia + Flashbacks are almost certainly foolproof RP wise! :D |

Nope, it just has to be in a skill you can use (and since you can't use it when defaulting, you have to have at least 1 skill point in the skill). Beyond that, the GM is recommended to highlight the skill in some fashion at least once per run, but that is neither a requirement nor a rule. |

Given that SR Pazifism says "Can't kill except in self defence" it's even worse... Birdy |

"look out! that security guard i've got in the sights of my sniper rifle is coming right for us!"
i've got a blind physad, but i decided to take the non-stereotypical route, and not get astral percep. of course, i've got every other sense boosted so high that she's more aware of her surroundings than most people with eyes. her melee mods for vision are knocked down to just +1; with the mankiri-gusari that is her weapon of choice, she melees at -1. |

Actually a blind Hermetic mage is far more screwed than most people make him out to be if only for the Uber pain in the ass that happens when you can't read any printed Conjuring or other magical Libraries. Having to get it on chip and have a computer read it to you would add a serious multiplier to the base times for anything related to them, not even accounting for formulae that involve pictures and diagrams.

Datajack. The lower-priced flaw doesn't block ASIST signals, etc.

It might be cool to play a mute character, but since it's so easy to get around (transducer), as a GM I'd make it a -1 flaw at best.

Nah, they would just be mute because of brain damage or something harder to fix, just like the blindness flaw isn't removed by a simple set of cybereyes.

Oh c'mon, no Wheelchair-bound decker?
I though a Rocker-with-a-Stalker would be funny as hell. Classic Big-dumb-troll, that likes rabbits/hamsters/kittens and wants to live of the fat 'o the land... |

Blind swordsman adept is pretty common I think... you can get them to the point of not having any visibility mods, and it's a very classic idea.

Would you allow a blind mage to read a handwritten library? He or she is not actually reading the words, but is reading the intent and emotion of the writer (possibly him/herself). Of course the cost would need to be insanely high. |

I tend towards troll magic users with combat monster.
I find incredibly amusing the idea of a weak-as-piss (for a)troll going tooth and nail against someone after her spells didn't work. |
