Alright, if I have enough time I'd like to submit Wildcard, a character I've worked on a bit but never actually played with. He's basically a streetsam, an ex BTL and personafix addict who's used so many chipped skills and BTLs that he doesn't know who he is or which of his many memories is actually his own. As a result, he has very few skills to call his own... just the ones he uses regularly on runs (assault rifles, pistols, athletics, etc). He makes up for this using Rating 6 skillwires and plenty of memory. He's an adrenaline junkie to boot, and will often jump into the action just because it seems fun... this is probably where he got started with the BTL chips in the first place. However, when he's not actively fighting or using one of his chipped skills, he gets confused easily since his brain really isn't all quite there anymore (though he's very intelligent... he just can't sort out all the lifetimes worth of memories, and thinks he's somewhere else). When his own personality lacks something (which is often) he uses characters he's chipped... James Bond, Karl Kombatmage, etc.

I still have some backround to write for him.

However, in his current incarnation he uses a good number of flaw and edge points (they balance out... he's sum to 10). This is just because so many fit him so well (2 point Amnesia to represnt his general confusion from the chips, daredevil because he's an adrenaline junkie, etc). None of the flaws are particularly cheesy, and all fit the character... same for the edges. So is there an upper bound on the number of flaws we can take?

Question, could the art of the Con be considered an art? Cheese question, I know. It's just a thought I had while making Spider. There's new Centering metamagic called Virtuoso in 2064 which allow the Adept to Centre for the preperation and execution of a form of art... was just a rambling thought, since I'm not touching Initiation.

Also, what's your stance on SURGE?

I'm thinking of making a street shaman/face. He'd be big in helping out street communities, kind of a robin hood complex, doesn't want to kill anyone but doesn't mind stealing from the rich. I'll try to send it in by friday night, or maybe saturday.

Digital Heroin: Conjuring could be an art, but you'd have to make it...artsy for lack of a better word. SURGE is fine.

Backgammon and JaronK: Sounds good.

Are we going to be based a lot in Seattle, or no? I ask because I'd like to take a lot of area familiarities, but will trade them for languages if we're going to be out and about more often than not.

SURGE might just be too evil, given how over the top this guy is Face-wise already, but I'm keeping it street. Spider's relatively new to the shadows, after all.

As for the Con, I mean as in Conning people out of things, pulling the wool over their eyes. Social theft, as opposed to Breaking and Entering and such.

Doesn't SURGE add a penalty to social TNs?
If so, it might not be advisable for a face.

It imparts a +1 to all Charisma based tests, but given he's got the Social Equivalent to Wired Reflexes, he's still slick as they come.

Well they call the perfect heist a masterpiece, I figure an Ocean's Eleven style heist/con would be art of a less visible kind. The kind that'd have people talking about it for decades after. Not something that'll much matter, it was just an odd theory.

Dear Sir,

I've been spending alot of time on my Security/Drone rigger character, and have 2 questions that would help me finalize some decisions.

First Question: Do most secured buildings use Decker or Rigger security in your world, or is it about half-n-half? Just realized almost half my character and nuyen is focused on the Security part of being a Rigger and don't want to feel I've wasted all this time/Effort/Nuyen for something the GM may not even know about...

Second Question: Not really any flying microdrones, and I'd like a couple. Could you either come up with some I could buy, or give me permission to create them using the Rigger 3 book please? (I promise to be fair and not minmax the drones if you want me to do it, I just think they're cool for spying/recon, not exploding heads with ;))

[ Spoiler ]

Personally, I've always felt overwatch/building security was a decker thing. It just makes more sense to me. That's not to say that I exclude CCSS systems entirely, though. I often incorporate a little bit of both, but Matrix security(or occassionally an installation completely isolated from the matrix, but still running it's own server just for security) is the most prevalent. My reasoning behind this is the capacity each has. Matrix security is cheaper and more efficient for an average corp establishment. It can process access, monitor where people are, etc. better, and requires less manpower by what I can tell. It also compliments a company with a mostly metahuman security force, as opposed to a high-security top secret establishment where they want as few people as possible to know about it so they employ a few riggers and an army of drones. Of course, that's just one example, but I think you get the general idea.

As for the drones, that one looks fine so I'll trust you to do it.

Hello all,

is there still a slot open?

I haven't played IRL for maybe 3-4 years but have still read the novels (almost got all of them now) and am very interested in playing online, as IRL I just don't have the possibility.

I'd love to play a technical character, not strictly a decker, more of a security/antisecurity software engineer (that's exploit coder if you know what I mean) with some traditional hacker (electronics) skills.

If that's possible, I'll whirl a character together.

regards
Ghost-in-the-machine
