Okay, this is going to be a pretty traditional run in it's scope, ideas, and general layout. You'll be playing your average street scum, nothing too fancy. Most of you will probably be out for the extra nuyen.gif up for grabs with this. This may even continue on to more runs, or break up after the, or even during, the first one. That's entirely up to the players.

Date: Oktober 13, 2063

Character Generation:
125 BP, Priority, or Sum-To-Ten
Normal 8 Availability, 6 Rating, Cultured Bioware allowed

Books Allowed:
Shadowrun 3rd Edition
Shadowrun Companion
Magic in the Shadows
Cannon Companion
Year of the Comet
SotA 2063
Man and Machine

Anything that isn't in those books or SotA 2064(Which I don't currently have) is possible; we'll see if we can work something out. Custom stuff is on a case-by-case basis, and a reason how you came about obtaining it is preferable.

I'm looking for a decent background and personality. A small amount of karma will be awarded to the best of each. This doesn't mean I want excessive, 10 page bios however. I'd also suggest putting at least a little bit of effort into contacts if you plan on using them.

Players have until 11-11 to turn in sheets, I'll be accepting the best sign-ups, regardless of how the team would normally work out. I'll leave it in your hands as to how to complete your mission. TXT, RTF, HTML, or XML formats preferable.

Seems cool.
You have a fairly comprehensive list of basic SR books with a conspicuous omission...is Man and Machine available?
Since most bioware comes from that and you mentioned CB is allowed, my guess would be you just left it out...

I'll be in with a troll melee tank if and only if CB is allowed.
Hemlok
Egg on my face and the first sign-up isn't even in. Wow....
HeySparky
I'm interested. Deckers welcome? I've never played one and have been itching to.
Toptomcat
Can I get delta-grade cybereyes even if it isn't within the Avail limit?
Beleive it or not, I really need the .02 Essence that spares me.
I'll have a backstory reason for it...
Hemlok
I'm only a novice on the decker rules, but any chance to learn them better is a good one. As for the eyes, finish up the background and I'll think about it.
Toptomcat
nvm, I'll just replace the Muscle Replacements with Agumentation and Toner.
Digital Heroin
So lets just say I wanted to play a Social Adept, a la SOTA: 2064. If I broke down the powers for you, and included the description of them all, would that be kosher?
Hemlok
If you can get me all the relevant rules, then it'd be as kosher as a Rabbi's son's bar mitzvah.
Digital Heroin
Excellent. I'll have some typing to do, but I'm thinking I'll be presenting you with an ultra-slick, smooth criminal type soon.

And this finally allows me to realize my vision of having a use for a character with Urban Exploration, if only for some reading I've been doing lately. Didja know a Lone Star just hates when you cross into corp turf... it's even more annoying when they're denied jurstictional leeway...
Hemlok
My understanding was that jurisdiction was such a pain for all involved that most of the time it was whoever had the guy in custody that got to decide what happened to him, but I guess I'll have to reread that since it's been a while.
Ol' Scratch
If you'll have me, I might try and submit something soon. I've had a hankering to try my hand at a Conjurer again, so I might go that route. I don't know for sure... I might go with this cool Drone Rigger/Tech Wiz idea I have, too. Just giving you a head's up like the others so you won't think nobody's interested. smile.gif

Out of curiosity, do you have a preference or prejudice towards more professional runners (dressed in black, bland features, disappears into the crowd) vs. more colorful ones (like in the art)?
Hemlok
I'd prefer them to be professionals in the attitude, but to be the generic mindless killer level of professionalism just gets boring. Not saying I condone utterly ridiculously characters that have no place in the shadows like Sushi-K, but an army of trenchcoat killers would get pretty dull.
Fix-it
I have a combat medic that i've cooked up. Halfway done with the background. it fits the reqs, and I should have it in a few days.

(Haven't posted here in months. biggrin.gif )
Leowulf
How new of a character do you want? I have one with 125 BP + 22 Good Karma.

One of his firearms is custom. As far as a story, I've just kind of made up a startup minicorp based in Seattle that manufactures original designs and scrapped R&D projects that are worth selling. I use it for any character that has a custom firearm. I use the CC rules.
Sphynx
For those wanting to know, I'm working on a Rigger/Decker (Primarily Rigger).

Sphynx
Fortune
That's a change for you. biggrin.gif
Sphynx
Change? I'm playing an Adept, a Shaman, a Hermetic, and a Cyber Zombie now... I always change... nyahnyah.gif

Appearance: 'Tiny' is as big as a house and a good deal more intimidating, towering over lesser trolls and with muscles moving under his reinforced skin like greased basketballs sliding against one another. He looks like he could crush a small car with his bare hands. He moves warily but not with the characteristic twitchiness of wired reflexes. He has a circular scar in the center of his forehead.

Personality: Tiny is a force of nature, supremely self-confidant and disdainful of lesser street samurai who think their wired reflexes will let them get the jump on him. He can wrestle grizzlies, punch through concrete, and survive an anti-tank missile...and knows it. He's a lot smarter than most trolls, but knows to leave the brain work to the specialists.

History: Tiny is a living legend, a former ganger who was a fixture in London's seedier parts for nearly a decade and a half. While not a leader, he outlived four of his bosses, and during that time gained a fearsome reputation for his stellar performance in gang wars...overcoming three-to-one odds, taking full clips to the chest, and destroying veteran gangers in single combat. Eventually, however, despite his unnatural longevity, his rep got too damn hot for his own good, and he was caught in a sniper ambush without a long-range weapon...and was forced to charge flat-out for nearly a mile across a busy street to get to the _#$()@ sniper. After that lovely incident left him with a nice little memento (see appearance), he decided to go to Seattle to try and lay low for a while...and there, he discovered the shadowrunning scene, so much easier to find in Seattle then in London. It pays a hell of a lot better then gang work, at least.
Tashio
I'm gonna throw in a Street Mage of sorts.
Hemlok
Just a few nitpicks from a quick view of your sign-up. Quickness should only be 8, so you either have 2 more BP or 25k to spend. Fineblades are essentially already dikoted, so I'm going to have to call that you can do so again. Don't think there's a Mnemonic Enhancer level 4. You can't have a Rating 8 Antidote patch. I'd recommend getting the decoagulant necessary for having a platelet factory unless you don't mind the side-effects. Otherwise the numbers look pretty good.
Fix-it
Sent in my Combat medic, (practically a surgeon though) he can still fight and think, so he should be good to have along.
Toptomcat
Edits made. Anything else?
Backgammon
I'm interested, but I've never played a game on a forum. Do you mind the inexperience?
Fix-it
I find forums much more enjoyable than IRL groups. More dedicated roleplayers, and more time to think about actions ( hours instead of minutes) leads to less CLUE and SLEUTH material, and less wasted time.
Hemlok
Medic received and I'd be glad to have you Backgammon.
JaronK
Alright, if I have enough time I'd like to submit Wildcard, a character I've worked on a bit but never actually played with. He's basically a streetsam, an ex BTL and personafix addict who's used so many chipped skills and BTLs that he doesn't know who he is or which of his many memories is actually his own. As a result, he has very few skills to call his own... just the ones he uses regularly on runs (assault rifles, pistols, athletics, etc). He makes up for this using Rating 6 skillwires and plenty of memory. He's an adrenaline junkie to boot, and will often jump into the action just because it seems fun... this is probably where he got started with the BTL chips in the first place. However, when he's not actively fighting or using one of his chipped skills, he gets confused easily since his brain really isn't all quite there anymore (though he's very intelligent... he just can't sort out all the lifetimes worth of memories, and thinks he's somewhere else). When his own personality lacks something (which is often) he uses characters he's chipped... James Bond, Karl Kombatmage, etc.

I still have some backround to write for him.

However, in his current incarnation he uses a good number of flaw and edge points (they balance out... he's sum to 10). This is just because so many fit him so well (2 point Amnesia to represnt his general confusion from the chips, daredevil because he's an adrenaline junkie, etc). None of the flaws are particularly cheesy, and all fit the character... same for the edges. So is there an upper bound on the number of flaws we can take?

JaronK
Hemlok
I'll leave it to personal discretion unless it turns out you have none.
Digital Heroin
Question, could the art of the Con be considered an art? Cheese question, I know. It's just a thought I had while making Spider. There's new Centering metamagic called Virtuoso in 2064 which allow the Adept to Centre for the preperation and execution of a form of art... was just a rambling thought, since I'm not touching Initiation.

Also, what's your stance on SURGE?
Backgammon
I'm thinking of making a street shaman/face. He'd be big in helping out street communities, kind of a robin hood complex, doesn't want to kill anyone but doesn't mind stealing from the rich. I'll try to send it in by friday night, or maybe saturday.
JaronK
I'll try to have Wildcard submitted tonight. We'll see if you think I have personal discression!

JaronK
Hemlok
Digital Heroin: Conjuring could be an art, but you'd have to make it...artsy for lack of a better word. SURGE is fine.

Backgammon and JaronK: Sounds good.
Toptomcat
You don't know what he meant, did you?
A con, a graft, a way to fleece innocents out of their nuyen.
gobogen
I'll submit George aka Hector to you soon, this evening, or tomorrow. It's a face.
Backgammon
QUOTE (gobogen)
It's a face.

"It"? Should we be worried? nyahnyah.gif
Ol' Scratch
I know I am. smile.gif
gobogen
Sorry, I meant "He's a Face" obviously. nyahnyah.gif

And don't be too harsh on the non-native speaker that I am, hmm-kay ? embarrassed.gif

Btw, "it"'s sent to you now, Hemlok..
HeySparky
Are we going to be based a lot in Seattle, or no? I ask because I'd like to take a lot of area familiarities, but will trade them for languages if we're going to be out and about more often than not.
Hemlok
You'll be starting in Seattle.
HeySparky
Thanks Hemlok.

Oliver Archer, noir detective, away!

Digital Heroin
SURGE might just be too evil, given how over the top this guy is Face-wise already, but I'm keeping it street. Spider's relatively new to the shadows, after all.

As for the Con, I mean as in Conning people out of things, pulling the wool over their eyes. Social theft, as opposed to Breaking and Entering and such.
Toptomcat
Doesn't SURGE add a penalty to social TNs?
If so, it might not be advisable for a face.
Digital Heroin
It imparts a +1 to all Charisma based tests, but given he's got the Social Equivalent to Wired Reflexes, he's still slick as they come.
Hemlok
DH: Heh. I knew that...Yeah...Same principle would apply though.
Digital Heroin
Well they call the perfect heist a masterpiece, I figure an Ocean's Eleven style heist/con would be art of a less visible kind. The kind that'd have people talking about it for decades after. Not something that'll much matter, it was just an odd theory.
Sphynx
Dear Sir,

I've been spending alot of time on my Security/Drone rigger character, and have 2 questions that would help me finalize some decisions.

First Question: Do most secured buildings use Decker or Rigger security in your world, or is it about half-n-half? Just realized almost half my character and nuyen is focused on the Security part of being a Rigger and don't want to feel I've wasted all this time/Effort/Nuyen for something the GM may not even know about...

Second Question: Not really any flying microdrones, and I'd like a couple. Could you either come up with some I could buy, or give me permission to create them using the Rigger 3 book please? (I promise to be fair and not minmax the drones if you want me to do it, I just think they're cool for spying/recon, not exploding heads with wink.gif)

[ Spoiler ]

Sphynx
Hemlok
Personally, I've always felt overwatch/building security was a decker thing. It just makes more sense to me. That's not to say that I exclude CCSS systems entirely, though. I often incorporate a little bit of both, but Matrix security(or occassionally an installation completely isolated from the matrix, but still running it's own server just for security) is the most prevalent. My reasoning behind this is the capacity each has. Matrix security is cheaper and more efficient for an average corp establishment. It can process access, monitor where people are, etc. better, and requires less manpower by what I can tell. It also compliments a company with a mostly metahuman security force, as opposed to a high-security top secret establishment where they want as few people as possible to know about it so they employ a few riggers and an army of drones. Of course, that's just one example, but I think you get the general idea.

As for the drones, that one looks fine so I'll trust you to do it.
GhostITM
Hello all,

is there still a slot open?

I haven't played IRL for maybe 3-4 years but have still read the novels (almost got all of them now) and am very interested in playing online, as IRL I just don't have the possibility.

I'd love to play a technical character, not strictly a decker, more of a security/antisecurity software engineer (that's exploit coder if you know what I mean) with some traditional hacker (electronics) skills.

If that's possible, I'll whirl a character together.

regards
Ghost-in-the-machine
