First time in a long time that I've seen such a potential light-magic game. :)

I have a magic character I can cook up for this. It won't take me long, either. I'll send it tonight.

Here's a list of characters I've received so far:
Toptomcat with Tiny the Troll tank Fix-it with Patch the combat medic gobogen with Hector the former Johnson Face Sparky with Archer the noir detective Backgammon with the dog shaman Robin Hood JaronK with WildCard the skillwire street sam Submissions are all pretty competitive and anyone has a chance at getting in right now. This brings up a part of running a game that I've always rather loathed. Do you take the best sign-ups and end up with a team that you can only wonder why a Johnson would hire where the team has to be very inventive as to how they accomplish the goal or do you take the best team as a whole so that it's more likely you can get the job done, but at the loss of some interesting characters and players? So feel free to try and sway my opinion one way or another as of now. |

It really depends on how you see the setting.
Are shadowrunners a dime a dozen or extremely rare? If they're common, then the Johnson (or more correctly, the Fixer the Johnson hires to find a good team) would only recruit those runners who had the reputation and skills to get his specific job done. If they're extremely rare, the Johnson would likely have to take whatever he could find and afford. So, yeah, it really does depend on how you see the setting. |

I think you should make an interesting team that a Johnson is likely to hire. If you spot a well written character that you like but doesn't fit, just ask the author to submit somehting else, with more detailed guidelines on what would work. Or just pick the ones that will work well for the setting you have in mind.
Taking a team of good players, but with characters that don't fit breaks the believability of things. I hate thinking "Why the frag did WE get hired to do this?". |

I agree with backgammon. We need a team that fits together and works well as a whole, but I feel like it's no reason to change who you pick. Actually, with smart changes to the characters - changes that don't affect their overall background and feel - you can often get the team to be much more complete and efficient. A few changes of skill, spell and cyber hasn't ever killed anyone, and it's often easy to do. The players will have to change some bits of background, but generally not the whole idea they had of their character.

Teams are often hired on repuatation alone, even if they ARE unsiuted for the job. there are ways around it though. so, if no-one submits a rigger, and we end up needing a rigger, we can always sub-contract another one, and take his pay from ours, or simply do without. |

Still working on spider... 'bout a page and a half for rough background, a page for contacts, and more will of course cross my mind. Still have a good deal of nuyen to spend, and he's not going to need much in the way of gear. I'll probably buy a couple identities for him, and a couple homes.

I met a nice Azzie once. he had an accident involving a minigrenade launcher, his forehead, and my hand. I told him to duck (in Japanese) but he wouldn't listen. At least the explosion killed the guards he brought with him.

Say, Hemlok, I wanted to make sure you'd recieved the background for Archer.
Everything make sense now? Well, as much sense as it's supposed to, I mean. |
