Fort so far ive seen no one thats against Sphynx's requires really as long as u post alot check the boards often and are ready to rumble i dont see a problem which it seems most here at this time are.... although it might be ruff with 10+ people for the GM and for time purposes (if someone dont show for thier turn) but those kinda things can be handled easy (puting a gun to the least active players head) or the more subtle approach of starting off and running *leaving* when they cant be around anymore.... in combat well they just fuckign ran away like little school girls with a barrel stuck up thier a**. one mroe thing might be for Sphynx just to pick a few people to play in his game... who knows aye?

One side note... i cant seem to check my freaking bloody Sig anyone else having this problem?

Comments from the GM:

Game is still wide open for attempting to join. I'll let everyone know who's in come January 1st.

Lotta "new" people posting, and not showing that they have the devotion to post as regularly as will be required. I don't recommend absolute newbs to this game, as it's impossible for someone who's never played the game to show the level of devotion required in my original post.

I will be PMing some of you as I start going over characters. Since nobody seems able to put their sheet on an external web page, I will start one up for all of you that have turned in a character.

Ok, PMing isn't working (neither is pretty much anything outside of posting/reading). Any idea what's going on?

I just think it doesn't bode well when people can't even be bothered to read (let alone comprehend) what the GM writes. I think you're going to have to take a firmer grip on this game Sphynx.

As for the non-functioning Forum features ... it's been like this for a few days now. There's a thread about it in the Bug Reports section.

Well, maybe I'm of those that you think does not undertsand what Sphynx wanted, but IMO we've been trying to come up with a good TEAM with a vague setting we came up with. Juggling characters to see balance them for team play and such. Actually posting character stats was not required at this point, but it helps to see what kind of guy you're making so others can adjust based on that.

As for Sphynx's only essential requirement, being able to post often, I have no comment. It's up to Sphynx to slice who he thinks meets that requirement.

Where do you think it went wrong?

I'm not talking about you Backgammon, but I really think that you knew that before you posted. I have no problems with discussing team cohesion.

I think it went wrong when people couldn't even read the opening post of this thread. Be that as it may though, I've said my piece on the subject, and the rest is up to Sphynx as GM.

Sorry my sentence came out wrong, didn't mean to "circle around" you like that (if you see what I mean, can't phrase it better).

Anyway, just sorry to see you go, I was looking forward to playing a game with you. Maybe some other time. Cheers.

To elaborate on what I posted earlier about character concept:

Sanquine is a female norm in her late 20's with brown hair and green eyes. Her father owns a small hotel in Minneapolis. Growing up he would often take her on hunting trips where she learned how to shoot both rifles and pistols. Both her mother and father are alive, and believe her to be dead.

Sanguine graduated Minnesota State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and got a job in advertising. Her new job took her to the east coast where she meet the man who later asked her to marry him. They two of them had only been married for a few months when a car bomb killed her husband. For several months after the murder, Sanguine would call the detective assigned to the case every day to see if any new lead had developed, often being told the detective was out of the office.

One day she went to see the detective herself, only to find that he had retired to the CAS. Left with no faith in the legal system and few options, she tured to private investigators. One of which actually turn up the name of a hitman from Seattle who specialized in explosives, and had been spotted a few block from where the bomb when off.

Taking what little money she had left, she put in for a transfer to Seattle to continue the seach herself. Slowly she became more obsessed with revenge, so much so that she left her old life and stepped into shadows to find the killer. (more later)

I'd like to get in on this one. I'm sorry that the Bug City campaign kind of fizzled, out, but I think part of the problem was we weren't quite clear on how you wanted us to act in the setting. Trying to sneak out of Chicago in the aftermath of the big bug breakout, we were afraid of things with big teeth jumping out from every shadow, and so kept waiting to see if you had anything to say after each post, instead of taking a stronger intiative (the fact that I ended up with intermittant internet access at the time was also a problem).

As for my character, seeing that there's already a decent number of players invovled, I'll throw out the question of what everyone feels still needs to be covered? I've got a character concept in mind, but the actual implementation is pretty changeable. I see two riggers already, so that probably means my idea for the getaway driver (his talents lie in getting a team loaded, in, and out at maximum speeds) a little redundant. What seems to be missing is the straight-up combat monster (nothing wrong with that, just needs a little personality to make him palatable) so I could make one of those (either sammy, or adept, I'm not sure which yet).

Any thought?

*edit* a dedicated medic, probably hermetic, also might be a good idea.

I wasn't going to say any more, but ...

I purposely didn't direct my previous post(s) at anyone in particular. I am not the GM, so was only expressing my own opinion on the content of some of the posts I've seen in this thread, which does not necessarily reflect the opinion of this game's Power-That-Be.

Y'know, I'm convinced my maths is absoloutely horrible. I've run the numbers five times now and come up with the same number, but it doesn't feel right...I seem to have ended up with 29 BP's left having covered almost everything I want my character to be able to do, but that can't be right...

Anyway, I'll put my character up in a couple of minutes, so could somebody check to see if I have done something horribly wrong?

[ Spoiler ]

Edit #3: Ok, so that's his weapons up...and before you say anything bear in mind most of them are in tool roll style bags in his car, and he just picks whichever weapon he needs for the job, and doesn't carry them all round with him all the time. I'll finish off equipment & accounting in a while, but right now I've got a killer headache so I'm gonna go try and sleep it off or something.

Edit #4:

Just while I remember, do you think it'd be worth investing in some skill with heavy weaponry or gunnery? It'd fit since he was a mercenary, but I'm not sure....

I didn't have as much time as I thought for putting together characters. First off, here is my healing and support style character, a Mouse Shaman. I'm really terrible at effective min maxing (I usually end up getting distracted by adding in cool little things, and not paying attention to the big picture), so if people could take a look and comment, I'd appreciate it.

[ Spoiler ]

Here is the combat adept version of Tofu. Despite now being more than eight feet tall, he's still good at sitting very still and being very quiet... until he pulls out the automatic shotgun
:
[ Spoiler ]

I'm really bad at getting the most out of my armor, so if anyone has suggestions there, I'd appreciate them.

Whatever I end up doing with the characte, his background story is going to remain the same. Tofu sometimes introduces himself as John Smith, to which most people respond, "You look like a John Smith." His running name started out as a joke on how bland and unremarkable he seemed, and it stuck. He is very good at just sitting there, being quiet, still and unremarkable (perhaps this is one of the reasons that Mouse chose him), until everyone quite forgets he's there at all. This is actually how he came to the attention of one of Ghostwalker's group. He'd been hired as support for a group making a run against some of Ghostwalker's interests. The run went sour on several levels (he got a bad feeling when he saw the sammie loading ex-ex into an Alpha, despite that this was supposted to be a 'hush hush run' but it was too late to pull out by then).

When the shouting stopped, and Ghostwalker's assests started picking through the debris, the first couple walked right by him, he sat so quiet and still. Then he slowly raised his hands, and said, "I give up."

What followed were not the best few weeks of his life, but he cooperated, and certain powers that be decided he could be a useful asset. He'd spent a couple years in the Motor City refuge neighborhoods after the wall around Chicago came down (he was originally from Chicago, but got trapped in the CZ when the bugs came out to play. It was during that time that he learned how to be like Mouse), but came to Denver to pay off a couple favors. He only has two contacts left in the city, an orcish hermetic mage named Francis Kelly, and a decker (the team's only other survivor, who was smart enough to do his part from six kilometers away) who goes by the handle .exe.

Im getting you with 15 left. Gotta love when you do all you wanted, and still have points left =)

Smith, mate, make good charcters. If you get distracted, please, do it. It adds depth. Min maxing is for punks. :D

This is gonna sound really dumb, but what's the basic cost for cybereyes? I've been sat here looking at the cyberware section for ten minutes and I can't find it.

Edit:

And, since I've never really had this explained to me, how do you work out the cost for extra ammo?

I'd love to be in on this. 5 days a week is no problem at all.

I have a character concept- most likely a decker with a penchant for electronic warfare.

Ive been through the posts, but Im a bit confused, want a PM on a character description / sheet, or post it here?

A couple of posts up it was said the PM feature wasnt working

I can get this together quick too.

Let me know what's up and I'll do it.

I didnt even realize it until I reread the posts.

Tarantula? That who I think it is? I probably should have known.

Hey man, you should have just kicked that hell hound in the head with your kid stealth legs, instead of running away. I wasted a good burst on that thing.

For everyone else, I know my posting title (signed up today etc..) isnt exactally shining. However, for resume purposes, here's what I got: Ive been playing and running SR since first ed. (remember them crazy staging codes?!)

Ran 3 Denver based games (before Ghostwalker), countless seattle based, even 1 London and Euro, and a DeeCee. Currently we're starting a new current Seattle game up on Northern Colo, and Im lookin to start an old school (2050's) game for pick up groups.

This play by post seems to be pretty sweet, and something I can get into, esp. cause I have a little extra time at work too.

Sorry to drop this on you, but I think I should bow out of this. I won't have regular net access until January 9th, so given the requirements set forth, I should probably just bow out.
