Just wanted to point out that Karma Pool changed a bit from SR2 to SR3, with the important difference being how much is used for re-rolls.

For a Standard Test, it's one dice for the first re-roll, 2-dice for the 2nd roll, 3-dice for the third, etc. This is a cumulative amount of dice

1-dice = 1st (1-dice cumulative)
2-dice = 2nd (3-dice cumulative)
3-dice = 3rd (6-dice cumulative)
4-dice = 4th (10-dice cumulative)
5-dice = 5th (15-dice cumulative)
6-dice = 6th (21-dice cumulative)
7-dice ... etc.

Open Tests require spending 1-dice per die to be re-rolled in the Open Test, so 10-dice re-roll means spending 10-Karma Pool dice.

IIRC, SR2 had no such limitations, it was one-dice per re-roll.

SR3.246 is where you can find this stuff.

How odd. I always thought it went by powers of 2. Much more convenient for high-KP characters.

Thanks, that clears up a few questions I had. In addition, it makes the mages a bit more scary at high levels for conjuring great from spirits, etc.

Ugh I just re my own post, let me re-state this:

1-KP die = 1st re-roll
2-KP dice = 2nd re-roll (3 total KP spent)
3-KP dice = 3rd re-roll (6 total KP spent)
4-KP dice = 4th re-roll (10 total KP spent)
5-KP dice = 5th re-roll (15 total KP spent)
6-KP dice = 6th re-roll (21 total KP spent)

So re-rolling your 15-dice to summon your Force 14 elemental for the 6th time would cost 21 karma pool dice.

Sorry for the rather confusing initial post.

Actually, see "Open Tests" on SR3.246. In an open test, its 6 Karma Pool to reroll 3 dice. It uses the same progression (1, 2, 3, 4 cost for each additional) as in your example above for regular tests. It's 55 Karma Pool to reroll 10 dice on an open test.

Thanks for catching that mistake, I completely overlooked that in my revised statement.
