Yeah but the point was that capturing a newly minted IE would be safer and more applicable to meta-humanity. In addition, the Dragons tell a similiar story of IE creation (granted they might be full of crap as well).

[Edit] Somebody made that point already, sorry.

I think, for most people, the Dragons and IEs have effective immortality.

speaking of IEs it ocurs to me that by 2060 Fortune will be sufficiently aged that we might check him to see if he really does have immortality genetics. ;)

I must have something. Personally I'm quite surprised that I'm still amongst the living (or maybe not quite living :D).

QUOTE (Herald of Verjigorm)
There is a clean and perfect parallel to Aztechnology exploiting a dead culture to bring a sense of purpose and identity to the masses in their country.

Heck, there's even a "New Aztlan" movement now. I live in south Texas and had been playing Shadowrun for a while before I heard about this.

One of my aunts, by marriage, was talking one day. I heard her say something about Aztlan, and being a Shadowrun fan, started paying attention after recovering from my heart attack. Basically, it's about Mexican descendents getting back to their roots, their very deep roots that is. Some of them refuse to speak spanish, because it came form Europe. It should be noted that this aunt is one of the most educated and well spoken people I know. She is a stable individual and a licensed medical practitioner.

She also isn't the violent sort like depicted here. She just feels that the US and Mexico should give up some (as in half) of their land so that Aztlan can come into being.

My first thought was "but I don't want to be a sacrifice for unimagionable evil...."

There's a problem with that. The governments involved probably don't own the land. People do. I bet they don't want to give up their property.

Ahh, I shouldn't have replied. It was my conservative streak coming out (it's really not that hidden).

Now to post relevant comments. If Dragons hunt down drakes and guard their young closer than anything, how do you think old IE feel about finding and mentoring/controlling young IEs. There was that Laverty guy collecting spike babies. Maybe he was looking for IE's as well.

The secret to immortality is simple. Just ask Chantrel.

Hey Fortune, I'm bringing the chips to the Great Ghost Dance. What kind of salsa do you want?

Aha! You fool! You've just reveled who taught Howling Coyote the blood magic for the Great Ghost Dance! Now, how do I get this info to the other IEs and Dragons without violating causality? Buried time capsule perhaps?

I hear Ysrthgrathe is taking applicants, too. And a relationship with him has "fringe benefits." Just ask Aina.

Edit: Corrected spelling on Ike Tu... that is, Ysrthgrathe's name. Thanks, AH.

Yeah, ask Aina. I haven't seen anyone slapped with a bottle of scotch in a month of Sundays.

Ysrthgrathe...pffft. Can't grant immortality. Can't even grant a corn dog on request, omae.

Well, since Thais is around, he must be able to whip up something akin to a corn dog.

Er, I was talking about Ysrthgrathe, but hey, if Thais can indirectly cause the breakup of the US, I wouldn't put a decent corn dog out of his range of talents.

Mmm, nacho cheese dip... can't get that for love nor money round here...

I've sometimes wondered why - assuming teaching the Great Ghost Dance was designed to spike mana to give the Horrors a bridge to cross, which I admit I may be mistaken over - the culprits didn't try again elsewhere. There are, I'm sure, places where the people are sufficiently desperate. The Yucatan, maybe? Is the dragon running the revolution a Great, or would he be insufficiently knowledgeable to block the idea?

More lies and crap from an IE. Bah!

Speaking of Thais, does anyone know when the ED precurser novels to Spector's SR novel are coming out. I heard they were being released in electronic format.

Scars will be out in September of this year. See the Lost Earthdawn page on Per Aspera's site. Not in electronic format, but an actual book instead. Little Treasures will come out in Spring 2006.
