Feh! Peck! Peckpeckpeckpeck! And since I really don't care about dragging this thread off topic, I just rented the Willow dvd recently. Is it just me, or does that movie take place on the smallest world ever? There didn't seem to be any place in the movie that was more than a day's ride away from anywhere else. |

It's a small world after all... I wonder if Virtual Disney has a Small World ride and if they updated it to include metahuman races... |

That would be cool. And I think Disney should have rereleased Snow White so she's a poor human maiden, where her evil stepsisters are elves... That would so SR. :rotfl: Insitutionalized metahatred from 5yrs on up... I think I'm going to bring up Disney stuff in my next game, just somewhere in the background. Is there anything anywhere about if Disney is still around and who owns them now?

Nitpick: Trolls have the same Priority (and Build Point cost) as Elves in SR3. |

I think you are confusing Snow White with Cinderella. :) Although I'm sure MOM and dwarves in general would protest the erroneous portrayal of Dwarves in Snow White. The only big mention of Virtual Disney (other than passing references here or there) was in the CalFree sourcebook. In general, I would think that Virtual Disney would go for whatever gives them the most profits, which might or might not be a message of tolerance and acceptance.

In mine as well. All the metahuman races should have the same cost. |

I agree with Smiley and Fortune. Though I see the logic in the staggered costs, it doesn't sit well with me.

I feel I have something substantive to add to this thread.
Ehrem. Here goes: Ha! Poncy elves! My work here is finished. Not that I have anything against elves, mind you. I just enjoy pointing out their propensity for poncy. |

And I think Elves should cost more than they do. They're the only race to get only advantages. And one out of every three PCs I've seen has been an elf. |

And Dwarves are the ony ones that get an overall +4 to Attributes.
Other than that, they all work out pretty evenly. They all have some advantage over the other races. |

Yeah, you're right, they do. This only reinforces my point that Elves are not worth the extra point cost.

Don't forget that dwarves are little, and are fun to trip and laugh at. I'm not sure if it has any statistical relevence here, but it's definitely great to keep in mind.

On the other hand, crotch shots with a hand cannon are much easier for dwarves. :) |

Each race has it's drawbacks. First, all get some kind of vision enhancement; both types
Elves have no mali, but only a total of +3. Dwarves have a +4 (and a nifty disease resistance), but a minus on running multiplier. Orcs are off worst, with only a total of +3 and no additional bonus to speak of. Trolls, finally, are farthest from the human average, and very specialised - but, overall, cannot complain, with an effective +5 and a ranged combat bonus. Humans, finally, have no mali, but no bonus either. In short, no metahuman race is grossly overpowered. Elves are practically destined to be mages, of course, and Trolls to be fighters, but hey, it can be done otherwise too, only slightly less effective (and making for less specialised, but more interesting, characters). I don't really see how any race is "better" than any other. |

Elves are more likely to be better conjurers and astral combatants with the Charisma bonus. Dwarves make better sorcerers in general and have greater spell pool with their Willpower bonus. |

Hey, nezumi, you beat me to it... I read the whole thread in one sitting and was ASTOUNDED! I can't believe, of all the hobby groups in the world that a bunch of Roleplayers wouldn't know that the short people in Oz were called MUNCHKINS! Not that they were number-crunching uber-gun-bunnies, but there you go... And on-topic, if all Elves were gay, there would very soon be great land potential just outside of Seattle... On the gender preference subject, I've encountered (and played) a number of non-heterosexual characters, but the one that hasn't appeared is the fabled lesbian elf... must be the group of players (one gay, one bi-male, three hetero males). We've had gay humans a plenty, a Bull-Dyke Ork (as torz so eloquently put it) and a great comedy bisexual troll who was constantly angry because the humans kept calling him "Daisy." Funny world. There are more arguements and sniggers in my group when someone says "My character is American" than if they say anything about sexuality. As for race, well, it's never come into question. I'm proud enough of my players to say that they're well-versed enough in the theme and genre to make a character, not use a stereotype. |
