Yeah I could see a hovercraft taking the rally course, unless maeva and her rocket car enter. But I imagine the corsair likes pavement better. Watching a hovercraft handle a track would be a pretty cool thing to see, drifting kicks so much @$$ and like tarantula said it's "superextremedrift power racing"

I was wondering if anybody was going to take on the rally course, I had completely overlooked the hovercraft. Just curious what events had everybody planned to enter, so I can get a list of what I need to set up(if nobody signs up for drag why roll for it right)

Put K-Bob in for all appropriate classes/brackets for everything bike except off-road, let me know if there are schedule conflicts.
As for the elfin skinhead - I'll meet you with chain or nozh or britva any time. (Oh, sorry. Wrong genre)

QUOTE (Tarantula @ Mar 25 2005, 09:51 AM)
Just so you know Aes, your TN for accelerating would be 1 - 3 for vcr.  You have -Rating of VCR, you can't possibly get -4.

Actually, quoting my BBB (pg. 142, left column, accelerating/braking modifiers):

QUOTE
VCR Implant: If the driver is a rigger jacked into a rigged vehicle, reduce the target number by an amount equal to twice the rigger's VCR rating.

So Maeva's VCR[2] should give her a -4 modifier. Unless that has been changed in the errata? I didn't check, and my BBB is old.

As for what events to enter, you'll find the Corsair has surprisingly good off-road handling. (Handling of 1/4, so it's an off-road handling that equals most standard "good" off-roaders. With her VCR, the TNs will again average around 2). But her background doesn't contain a lot of chances for off-road training (guess she should've entered the Paris-Dakar). She'll gracefully bow out and allow the ESS hovercraft to shine there. I imagine she'll be participating in the Drag Race (car built for obscene acceleration and top speed) and autocross (her background specialty). She's there to race, not to be a one-woman spectacle though, so if there's a limit on entries for a single team, she'll back out of the drag races to focus on her biggest passion, the autocross.

I always forget that its 2x VCR rating, not straight VCR Rating. I blame my lack of books for the past 2 days while I stay at my parents place. :P

* bump *
K-Bob will continue to cruise the track until the 500km mark is reached or he sees Sebastian's vehicle on pit row.
He'll want to adjust the chain while the bike is warm, but will want to talk to Sebastian first if he's available.
As far as Maeva's gentle taunt - never heard a word of it - no team radio yet.

Hmm, all Sebastian has racing wise is the modified westwind. It'd be good for street racing, but it'd be outclassed by most anything else on a track. I'll crunch some numbers and see how it comes up for drag racing.

each racing category has classes, Naturally Apsirated(no turbo), Turbo, 4cylinder, 6 cylinder, 8 cylinder, Jet propulsion, ect. So you can just enter your class. Though all the winners of each class run against each other in the finals.

My last post was in response to general race talk. When he shows up at the track, it'll be in the van, but that sure isn't going to be racing against anything (unless blowing your oppenents to hell is an acceptable method for winning a race).

Well - it appears to be an acceptable reward for second place...

Kiedo - I'd like to know what the chances are that K-Bob (or anyone else) knows who Dek's former gang/contacts/family are? Not that K-Bob is sentimental but there are certian customs to attend to the death of another, thats what seperates (meta)humanity from the rest of creation.

I'm kinda curious as to how the rules of the track are. Whats the penalty for bumping another racer into a wall? Shooting out tires? Oil? Smoke? Etc...

Thomas: K-bob knows his family and some of his contacts, the star has notified the family, and his former gang already knows. But it's good to have a human on board.

Tarantula: since it's not a combat racing event, all of your vehicle weapons are disabled by a track rigger, but if you somehow manage to reactivate them you would be permanetly banned from the track, not to mention the attempted murder charges the driver of the other car would be able to file. As far as bumping goes, it's a five second penalty added to you lap time, for each instance, but if it happens too much, and depending on the severity you or your whole team could be disquilified from the entire event.

I would expect that all track events are 'professional' races, so you play by the rules, and don't get to try and remove competition with extreme prejudice.

Poor Maeva will have her hands full trying to keep tempers from flaring at the car show, it seems.

Hey, I'm a professional.
I won't twitch unless it becomes necessary.

I won't even bring my briefcase, just my legal pistol.

Which reminds me, I need to put in an order for a triggerless Ares Predator 3 so I'll have a pistol not registered in my name. Will post that later though.

Etiquette test for the Pistola, not counting my permit modifier, because I don't want a weapon registered in my name.

10 07 05 01 for 3 successes, using extra 2 successes to reduce time.

Oof... Is it too late for Sebastian to notice a strange black car on his driveway?

And while I'm asking continuity questions, why didn't any of the junior scouts notice a bald elf scrawling on the window?

Just questions, not complaints.
