If it's a problem I'll tone it down, Thomas. Kai's a streeter through and through and maybe knows too much about the facts of life, but if it's a problem I can play up other aspects of his personality instead.

I'm curious if I'm rolling the right number of dice myself, Slipshade :) -- but at least if I'm erring, it's toward the low side. It's later that the higher numbers will be needed more.

Oh, no! Please don't misunderstand - Steve's straight-laced, obsessive-compulsive, and has dreams of elfin nobility - but he is male and has similar thoughts, just enough taste not to voice them. ;)
As for the klepto thought - well, he IS an ex-security guard, and kids that don't outgrow that sort of thing typically end up in a life of crime. Like shadowrunning. Still, his thoughts are molded by a career of working security.
Please, please play your character to the hilt - I enjoy it. :D

We're cool, then :) Just wanted to make sure -- sometimes the only early signals come through in the roleplaying, and I didn't want to go into areas anyone wasn't comfortable with.

And the ex-security guard aspect is definitely going to clash -- and I'll hope we both have fun in the clashing :)

Sedna,

As I am reading the cyber skates it says running equals Quickness*6 so for a person with 3 quickness gets 18 dice!!! That just doesn't seem right, very cool, but not right. :)

If that is the case, I would have....

Is this a multiplier one, then? Because I have no idea what the canon multiplier would be for skateboard. One easy way around that, though :)

DH - a ruling please?

I have done a little in line and a little Skateboarding in my life and I would think the Skateboard would have less of a modifier than the rollerblades. I used to get a bigger head of steam going on the skates than I did on the board. Just speaking from experience. I really doesn't matter to me who wins the race. We just need some style points.

Wanna come up with a few difficulty ratings for tricks. :)

or should we just call out the difficulty ourselves then see if we pull it off or crash and burn. :D

That post okay by you, Slipshade? I'm just trying to get the plot moved forward, against the off-chance that that's what's keeping our GM away.

That's fine with me Sedna, besides it not always about who gets there first, its about who looks the best doing it, right. :)

It's all about Style over Substance.

DH

Would you give Sedna and I the general layout of the place from the outside. I will put something up after that.

Thanks,

I'd give the skateboard a modifier of 5 myself, simply because there's that intermittant period where you have to shift balance to pump up some extra speed. Bikes, for reference, I'd give a 7 or 8, depending on the quality, but skates and boards still have advantages, since you don't have to lock them up, or hump them up really large hills.

Now, for Mings... *gestures to the post* Sorry if it seemed I was gone, shift cycle gets odd at the end...

Understandable. I've had the all-over-the-place kinds of shifts myself.

Thanks for the skateboard modifiers -- and sometime when you have a chance, I'd really like to know the stat details of Kai's bicycle as well ...?

Back in-story: if there's a way up to the roof (probably in back, if there's an alleyway? fire escape ladder?), or finding an accessible (and listenable or seeable-through) window, Kai's going to scale it. Rooftops are a common place for street kids to find shelter anyway, so it shouldn't raise any alarms if he gets caught (although of course he'll try not to be).

Ming's is one of the only buildings in the market to have a permanent roof structure... aside from the buildings it's nestled between... the rest are either poorly constructed, or canvas.

Sedna,

I say we just run a standard check on everything and get the hell to The Shore so we can get everyone back in this game. Sound good?

Agreed, Slipshade. I've tried to write in a general intro to The Rest.

DH: could you give us the summary on what's noticeable from above and below, front and "back", including layout of the street itself and what buildings/booths/other structures can potentially be used for cover/concealment -- Athletics/Perception rolls for Kai below -- and then I'll trust you, Slipshade, to write both of us over to the Shore? :) That should hopefully speed things up.

Everyone,

Do to more time constraints at work I am being forced to drop a number of my games. Unfortunatly Emerald City Nights is going to be one of them. Good luck with the run I am sure things are going to pick up now that the meet is near.

My appologies to everyone,

Slippshade

Hate to see you go Slipshade, but RL coming first is understandable. If ever you want back in, I'll find a way to work it out.

Ok... basic outline of Ming's (the meet wasn't supposed to take long, as is my usual thing). The restaurant itself if open concept, seating being in a semi-indoors area on a porch, with the kitchen being further inside, as well as the facilities. Despite the nature of the market, it's a clean place, and the clientele seem calm. There's an apartment above the kitchen, and most of the roof is given over to a balcony for it.

Of the rest of the market, nothing is permanent. Some of the structures seem to last, but most of them actually look like they're taken down at night, or at least collapsed for more secure storage. There's no obvious cover, at least none that'd make for decent surveillence.

The closest buildings are secured or abandoned, and look like they may have decent vantage points, but anyone watching from them would be hard pressed to track someone through the ever-moving crowds.

That would be fine with me. I just did one little flavor post for Viper. We can assume that we all get briefed on what little there is to know about Ming's, unless Sedna wants to do a quick IC post.
