Nope you did a great job Cedric, I really enjoyed reading your posts. I always enjoy your characterizations of Dragon.

As I stated in the main OOC thread I haven't had a computer available to me for several days, but I'm looking to get caught up tonight and tomorrow. Posting for this and the warehouse scenario are my top 'catchup' priorities.

Am I working off my SR3 sheet or SR4 sheet at this point? In the SR3 game I have an Americar that I can go and get which would provide two vehicles plus one bike available for use.

I know that I (as your world GM) approved your SR4 conversion stats before the "pizza ambush" back in the warehouse.

It's really BC's call since he is the Run GM here, but I believe we're all at least functionally approved by our respective GMs for SR 4 readiness. So I would suggest going with that version, but as I said, BC you are the one with the final call.

If that's what we're working off of then let me know which contacts survived the changover, I had about an exta 45K or 9 bp which I hadn't spent because of the contact conversion.

BC if you don't have the SR4 character sheet for Erebus let me know and I'll either PM it to you or email the original Word doc.

If everyone's approved for it I've got no problem with this running as SR4. I'd like everyone to be on the same page, but I can adjust if necessary.

WR1, bandit, 'ronin: are you approved for SR4?

EDIT: I'm really going to have my character ask yours for a loan now, Cedric :)

I am 'functionally approved'. Basically I'm good to go for SR 4, except there are some minor changes that will be made (mostly to contacts and maybe to skills) because my character is the 'test character' that Grendel and I are using to evaluate our SR 4 Training Times and Policies. So Dragon has been in flux since as we change our training procedures, I experiment with the new systems on him.

He ends up in pretty much the same place, but occasionally, depending on the particular quirks of each new method we examine, he's ever so slightly different. Maybe a skill here or there is 1 point higher or lower, but nothing I'm likely to need in the near future. That answer your question sufficiently BC?

OK, general ruling time:

If your character is 'functionally approved' (as in WR1's example), you are, for all intents and purposes, approved. I think I remeber Tenmou being fully approved, and with Erebus and Dragon being 'functionally approved', this seems to make sense to me.

As soon as you have a 'final' character, shoot he/she over to me. For the moment, I don't need the character (and, in fact, the only character sheet I've got is for Erebus), and we can rely on the honor system.

(Now, I can throw goons at you, 'cause running an SR3 combat along with an SR4 one would have been a bookkeeping nightmare)

Did I say 'functionally approved'???

Oh um...wait. What I really meant was NO, not even close to being converted yet. Still a big time work in progress. Yeah, that's it. Haven't converted from SR 3 yet, but trust me, I'll get there eventually. One of these days. Sooner or later. You know how it goes. ;)

Better hold off on those goons for a while BC. We've got SR 3 and SR 4 characters together still, and we wouldn't want you to have a bookkeeping nightmare on your hands, now would we guys? :grinbig:

Uuhhhh, I need to modify my character sheet for SR4. I looked at it when this dicussion started and I gave myself Electronic as a base skill rather than a skill group, must modify.

Bandit, I'll submit a revised sheet to you and I'll PM my SR4 sheet to BC as well and I'll try and polish it into final form.

Okay, we've all had about a week off, now its time to start posting again. Anyone, anyone?

If no one else wants to jump in I'm going to have Erebus head off to the flower shop to do some investigatoring.

BC and Bandit; can you please confirm receipt of my amended character sheet for SR4 with the corrected Electronics deal?

I'm gonna let Bandit comment on the sheet, I'm just some dumb Run GM :)

Everyone's available to post freely, however let me post when you actually get to where you are going.

Dragon has said his piece, and Erebus obviously agrees, so I'd say it's on Ronin, Bandit, or SR 13 to reply.

Otherwise Cedric, I'm fine with you writing Dragon as going along to the flower shop with Erebus according to the plan that was laid out.

Cedric: You've got a PM regarding the character sheet.

Temporary absence notice:
I am leaving to attend a scientific conferance in San Diego today, I will return on August 10th (just in time to gather ronin and winterrat and head to Gen-con!). I am anticipating having at least some internet access, since at these types of conferances it is usually expected.

Temporary Absence

I'll be out of town in Mexico Friday (8-11) through next Monday (8-14).

I should have internet access in the evenings, and I'll be back in town either late Monday or early Tuesday.

Y'all have fun at Gencon, and roll a bucket of D6 for me.

BC, it looks like my detective contact will exist in the new version as well as the old so I'm calling him to see if we can exchange info for info or help getting the van back.

Bandit, BC, WinterRat1:

Question on spent karma and the conversion. I spent 4 karma on learning bike 2, but there is no such skill in SR4, just ground transport. What is my converted level of ground transport? Do I have it at 1 (4 karma spent for first level in new skill) or 2 (2 bike = 2 transport karma cost irrelevant)?

Cedric - Training conversion information is currently in process with Grendel and myself.

Assume you will have Ground Craft skill, but don't worry about the level for now. The mechanics are being worked out, so just make a note that it was trained up during play and as soon as we have the finalized training conversion rules, make the appropriate adjustments as needed.

FYI: I will be waiting on SR13, Bandit, and/or Ronin to at least say something before moving forward, since while it's obvious Erebus agrees with the plan and is already moving, Dragon will expect the others (or at least some of them) to respond as well.

Arrrrgghhh... real life is driving me NUTS right now.

The plan sounds as good as any at this point. I don't have much I can contribute to the plan at this juncture.

Rules Question:

With a spell sustaining foci, can the magician to whom the foci is bonded voluntarily 'disrupt' the sustained spell at will? Page 191 doesn't talk about it and I can't find any references in Street Magic.

It says if a spell foci's spell is disrupted the magician can use the sustaining foci to sustain another spell. p. 191 SR4. Does 'deactivation' of the sustaining foci cause disruption? Can a magician use the Force 3 sustaining foci to sustain a physical barrier and then decided to dump the physical barrier and immediately cast and use the foci to sustain a detect enemies spell? Are their any tests involved or anything? Does a deactivated sustaining foci become blank, or upon activation does it immediately 'restore' the spell it was previously sustaining, because that would mean the character whose focus is snatched away from his person would have to recast the spell to get the benefit of the sustaining focus again.

I'm posting here to and elsewhere, sorry if this question doubles up, just looking for insight.
