I haven't spent any money on the bar yet. All I am saying is that I have some money set aside to spend on it, once I know how much things will cost. I don't expect to pay the full 700,000 on it. If I have to, then I will, but I'd rather have some money left over for gear, contacts, etc...

Mallet, please tell me some of the money you spent on the bar was spen on SOTA defense systems. Like smart turrets around the perimeter. I think that you could represent your bar as a permanent lifestyle, possibly customized by the rules in the Sprawl Survival Guide.

...except that he's a pacifist... :( Guess I'll have to bring in the guns. Or at least the counter intrusion measures.

I'll read this string over a little more in depth tomorrow. Here is JJ as he stands now.

Concept: Mexican (not Azzie, 4th generation UCAS-Mexican thank you very much) kid from a blue colar neighborhood in Chi-town. Conjuring adept with a big posse of summoned friends, force 4-6 (7 friends in all)

He's concerned that a lot of his extended family are missing recently, and he doesn't want anything to happen to his mama, whom he loves dearly (just don't ask him to admit it out loud to her).

Hrer's the vitals:
[ Spoiler ]

Feel free to tweak me, I figure I could live near the bar/pub, and the basement appartment he has could be a fallback place. I can chip in spirits for astral security, etc. He's not very min/maxed except for inteligence and summoning/banishing.

Just a little side note. I actually did grow up in Chicago so....I am really looking forward to this. Since our old GM wouldn't even think of running a bug city campaign he hated the book.

Oh and gel packs.... where is the sense of style.... they just look bad and I dont want the extra chance of knockdown or my quickness and combat pool affected. Not to mention how many BIG guns the bugs really gunna have.....wait dont answer that :sleepy:

Oh, I know. Although fangirldom is usually an honor (?) reserved for men, I submit that it is very possible for a woman to have fangirls.

Plus the joke sucks the other way around. :D

Reign: If you've got your ears on, can you list off a few seedier/more dangerous parts of Chicago? And some nice ones too? And where is jazz in the city (or is it all over)?

I've read up on Chicago a bit in the Shadowrun Wiki, but a native's perspective would be nice.

Thanks!

EDIT: Hey - I'm open to be good buddies with any of the characters in here - I've got an idea for hooks for anyone at all interested. PM.

Reign: You paid 2,000 to Dikiote then? If so, that's correct.

Scoundrel: Aptitude is allowed (as shown on ES_Sparky's character), but not for combat or magic type skills.

Gobogen: Ok. ;)

Jrayjoker: I'll PM a proposition to you......

Note-1 to others: I'd recommend (from a min-max point of view) that you look into Muscle Aug/Toner instead of Muscle Replacement. More user friendly.

Note-2 to others: Careful with Used, I do indeed use Stress Points with Used Cyberware. And in games I run, which are ALOT more combat oriented than other games, I assure you, once you start having Stress, it only gets worse. To decide what your starting stress is, take the BASE Essence Cost of the cyber, and round UP to the nearest whole number, to a maximum of 3. That's your starting stress. Cyberware can never, in my games, be healed below 3 stress points, so even if it only starts with 1, it can't be repaired until it hits 4, and never repaired below 3.

Character coming soon™! I just found out about the game, and haven't even had a chance to think about it yet. If you need it within the next 10 hours or so, then I'll probably have to bow out. Otherwise, you know I'll get one posted as soon as I can.

I paid for 500cm^2 for the Dikote, so I spent 5000 :nuyen: dikoting my spurs.

No Aptitude on Combat Skills? Too late. I can edit it out, but won't be happy. Besides, given that the Edges that grant modifiers to all vehicle or social skills cost much less, I would think that Aptitude (which grants a modifier to any one skill) costs so much precisely because it can be applied to Combat and Magic skills.

As per the description of Aptitude, GM is not allowing Combat or Magic skills with Aptitude, because it unbalances the game (something the description itself agrees with). Sorry I didn't notice your character had it earlier, I'll get time to do a serious run-down on all characters this evening and officially post any 'problems' as I see them.

QUOTE
I'd put Gel Packs in it. At this stage, they don't cost anything (intead, they modify the Street Index and Availabilty

Um they cost x5 the armor you put them on, according to the Cannon Companion p.53 that would be an extra 60,000 for the heavy security armor and an extra 1,000 for the helmet, and thats if the gm is nice and let you apply them before you fire resisted the armor.....

As for parts of Chicago... I don't know how big, or exactly where the containment zone is. Never got to even see the bug city book. Ill run down some of Chicagos bad streets and areas once we find out where exactly we are stuck. BUUT I will give you my 2 cents on the FASA fraggup that my old gm gave us. From down town Seattle to the outskirts of Pullyup is a 2 hour drive. Chicago to Milwaukee is only an hour and a half and he thought they should be one metroplex. Also Great Lakes Naval Base is just South of North Chicago(a suburb, there are 4 other towns between it and actual Chicago) about a 30 minute drive down side streets maybe 20 on the expressway depending on rush hour. It seemed to him that it wouldn't be Knight Errant and Ares setting up the zone it would be UCAS Marines and Navy with some token help from Ares. Also I don't if Bug City addresses it but the Chicago doesn't have a subway it has an Elevated train system (shortened by us natives as the "L") The L is about 3 or 4 stories off the ground in most places. And anything one block surrounding the track is "bad" no one wants to hear that thing go by. The L expands out rom its center "The Loop" a big square of tracks surrounding down town Chicago with the Chicago River on is North and West sides and Printers Row on its South, with millennium and Grant Parks on the East. Inside the Loop are Chicago's main government buildings (City hall, Daley Plaza, Chicago Board of Trade, Chicago Stock Exchange, Chicago Main Post Office, to name a few).

Anyway as to Bad parts if you hear the L every 30 minutes all day long your in a bad part of Chicago. As for gangs Chicago is where the Vice Lords began... and the Latin Kings (also the El Ruiqens I think they might be 2 different latin gangs but I can't ever remember them fighting in the papers), and hell I think the G.D.'s (Gangsta Disciples) were a more violent sect of the Vice Lords that split off in the 70's. The California B&C (Bloods & Crypts) have never to this day got a hold in the city. In the early 90's they did successfully gain a toe hold in the Greens ( a Quad of 4 high rise tenements) but then Mayor Daley tore them all down and started a HUD housing project and really cleaned the area up. As for smaller gangs, if your not affiliated with one of the 3 major gangs your toast. Vice Lords are mostly West and North of Downtown, and world wide really as of 2005, Latin Kings and G.D.s South and South West side except for China Town. Colors Vice Lords- red "red or dead". G.D.s -blue "true blue" and the Latin Kings don't have colors that I know of. They are more the tear drop tatoo beneath the eye kinda people. As of this day if your a person of "ethnicity" you better not be wearing the wrong color. I'm sure in 2064 "ethnicity" would become Metanicity. But who knows.

Ok I'm gonna stop for now I've been ranting a bit here.

Man, it's been so long since I made a "street sam" type character I forgot all about bioware! Didn't even cross my mind to buy it. Some changes are now being made to Mike Hennessey, not in style/personality, etc... just in augmentations.

I'll edit my sheet that I posted earlier with the changes when I am done, and post to let you know that it has been changed.
