Well.. No.. But 9/11 is mentioned in here all the time, so I figured it'd be alright to discuss it.

Sorry.

Ah yes, but for the general discussion forum. Strange that SubRosa departed soon after that forum closed. :D

Usually followed by a lot of people saying "don't bring that up again, it only stirs up shit and that stinks!"

The thing is... London, like most other west European cities, was the battleground for terrorism in the 1970-80s. Remember the Iranian Embassy Hostage situation?

The impact of New York was in its unprecedented magnitude in loss of life as well as the psychological impact where North America was previously never hit by foreign terrorism.

London, having been through terrorist attacks before (IRA and such), is in a good position to weather this attack. Well, today, the Battle of Britain has started. But we know who will win.

I'm with weblife and Jong. I think today warrants an exception to the rule. And yeah, the UK has dealt with terrorists before. I think I know how this is going to end, and really, this only makes me all the happier that we invaded Iraq.

Please leave the political discussions aside for now. The victims in London is what matters at this moment.

33 dead, around 300 injured, lots of people stranded in mid-London. Four bombs, three in the underground and one in a bus.

Also, that egyptean diplomat is dead, and the polish governemnt seat is burning because fo a short fuse.

Official count is still three on the underground and one on the bus. There are reports of explosions heard at more than those three tube stations, but it is looking like those may just be people hearing the explosions at other stations or on trains between stations.

Initial reports of explosions were higher because multiple stations reported explosions (eg the station one of the trains just left, one it was passing, etc).

My sympathy to Our British Cousins.

But this reminds me of 9/11 as a lesson in how stupid terrorists are. They knock a little hole in the Pentagon, and think that a superpower's ability to make war, fashioned to survive a massive exchange of nuclear weapons, will be damaged? They knock down a few buildings, like we won't rebuild them taller and stronger and more glorious?

They kill a handful of commuters in the city that would not fall to the Blitz, and they think they've won a victory?

They know nothing.

They seem to have forgotton how Britain reacted to the bombs of WWII.

I also think it's telling that with all of their "Prime Targets" up in Scotland, the terrorists decide to blow up some poor people going about their business. There wasn't even an attempt to attack a hard target. Evidence that these terrorists aren't mad at us because of our leaders, but because of what we represent. They would kill me or you in a second even if you told them you voted for the other guy.

Prayers and thoughts with all of you in London and Britain.

That's some extremely questionable logic in the last two posts.
