Konton attempts to assence the Ward, to get a feeling for it's power rating. He is also looking for any gaps in coverage. He's checking from all angles, but not entering the patrol zone of the watchers.

Noted, I'll wait for Carmen to post before proceeding...heh I mean Whizbang. For now, Konton is planning to return and get inside physically. Barring Carmen pulling a magical rabbit out of a hat.
In the mean time more Google Goodness This time Downtown Corpus Christi. The satellite zoom isn't that good, but the map itself is solid. |

Oh, and I've been poking around looking for a Hilton on the water in DT Corpus Christi. (not cheating...I'm just trying to help :) ) I'm coming up empty handed, but I did find something close.
This Monster don't know if that helps or not, but it is a large Hotel owned by a Hilton subsidiary, and it's right on Shoreline Blvd. |

Were going to keep the specifics of the hotel... abstract. Its Downtown CC on the water. I think thats good enough for now.

Is Monteray on the east coast of Mexico, or the West?

i'm not finding a Monteray Mexico, the closest i have is Monterrey Mexico, and that's inland. Now there's Monterey California, which is coastal, but it's way north of mexico, I think even by 2060 standards.
I'll keep digging. |

Monterrey, Mexico is on the East Coast, about a hundred kilometers inland from the Caribbean.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. We can leave right from the Naval Station via the mini sub, and return there too.

Guys, I'm off for the weekend. Over worked and over stressed. A buddy invited me up to his cabin for the weekend to get away from things for a few days. I'll post when I get back.

Anyways; its saturday night and I'm too hung over to out and party (yes, I do share a lot of traits with my character ;)), so, I thought it'd be constructive to do some thinking.
And by thinking, I mean, about our extraction plan (which we've only rough drafted for the first part of the mission). There is one thing I'm concerned about: how are we supposed to cap all those sec guys in an elevator. Yes, confined space makes it easy... like shooting fish in a barrel. But that doesn't change the fact that an elevator is only SO big. How many people can stand on top of one, open the celling trap and shoot down? One? Two? Can he/her/they take all the guys down before one makes a move? What do we do with the blood and damage? I know Grendel suggested "crashing" the elevator afterwards, which would indeed take care of that. Do we get someone hidden/disguised inside the elevator, as well as the people "on" it? Do we block the elevator between two floors, do our thing, and then take it to parking level? I mean, doing recon is coo and all, but our plan is still VERY rough. I know we can't do a detailed plan with what little info we have, but I believe that with a little brain storming, we can come up with something clearer. Basically... I just want us to start discussing all that OOC |

I was messing around with the elevators at work (and getting some strange looks when I made assault rifles with my hands) and figured out about 4 guys can stand at various angles in front of an elevator and shoot in. Each one will have a field of fire to shoot at. No one person (accept the guy directly in front) will be able to see the whole thing.
Leblanc will lock the elevator on the roof and put it in a fake maintenance cycle. You will also put a note in the system that maintenance is do to repair it the next day. Run a cycle on the cameras so they show an empty elevator and walla! No one discovers it for a day or two, which is all we need.
I completely agree. But it is a sound basis for a plan. The things we have to worry about now is to make sure that where ever we do our assault (basement, roof etc) we don't have to worry about cameras or passer by's. |

Doing it on a "random" floor seems VERY risky. If someone just happens to come out of their room and sees a bunch of shadowrunners emptying clips... not cool. Not cool at all. Even if the runners are wearing shades.
Roof is doable, but people inside other building might notice it. Basement / parking = same risk as on a random floor. The plan is good, but it has some SERIOUS flaws. Beside the roof, bystanders always have a very good chance of being present. Anyways... I was thinking while watching The Usual Suspect for the 100th time (since it has an "elevator" scene) about how everyone was going to sneak inside. We need to get various disguise and uniforms, as well as find a way to get the weapons inside (yes, disable the MAD systeme via Matrix... but an assault rifle is still big ;)) |

We could always make the hit on "their" floor.
I'm sure they'll have more than one room reserved, and we hit the elevator closest to where their rooms are. We get our rooms (say two of them) on the same flor in the same area. That way we have reason to be up there. And as most of the rooms in that area belong to either us or them, that will minimize the chance of non combatants happening by. As for getting us all in the building, with two rooms, you could believably get two of us in a "couple", and three of us in as a "family". That's five of us on site, on the right floor with a consistent cover. The left overs will have to come in as employees. As for the hit itself, with Miho's stealth, combined with an invisibility spell, hearth spirit concealment, and Carmen's own "combination invisibility/silence" spell, we should be able to get a large portion of the team into the fray undetected. |

The MADs detector, that they probably have in the hotel's lobby, can probably be defeated via the matrix... but it would still be a safe thing to get our hands on non detectable weapons and Hi C ammo.
As for the run itself, I was thinking of two things for the decking: 1-Either connect via radio / laser/ whatever link setted inside the hotel 2-Or jack in from inside the hotel itself (via a remote device or something of the kind) Option one is the safest (they can't trace the hack if they find out) Option two will enable Leblanc to bypass a lot of security and get right down to business. Thoughts? |

Can you get us rooms and what not form outside? If so I would suggest that route. Then once we're in, doing the rest via an internal hook up.
As far as guns go, if konton is going to be required to shoot anything, he's going to need silenced pistols. His is oversized, burst fire, 10M dragon slayers are the exact opposite of silent. To get weapons into the hotel, we can always levitate them in via a window or balcony once we're inside. Set up a couple of large cases with everyone's hardware, put them in the back of the van. Once the van is on the hotel grounds, we can have a spirit conceal it, stack that with improved invisibility, and then float the cases up to our window. Of course I'm just pursuing the magic angles, if anyone has more mundane ideas, i'm game. |

Well, if I manage to get my silence spell to cover the elevator, it won't really matter what you bring...only thing is now I'm starting to think that the reason I was allowed that spell was that it was personal ranged....

that means you would have to cast it on individuals.
Hrm... Perhaps save that for the opposition forces, who may not be nice enough to come equipped with silencers. How exactly does the spell work? Did you design it? |

I really don't think we are going to be able to get a room, even with Leblancs decking. We don't want to kick someone out of their room because that will be suspicious. This is an international conference, the hotel is going to be packed. If were lucky we will be able to get a room in a nearby hotel.
In fact, I don't want to stay in the hotel. After this goes down, local Law, and Azzie sec, are going to be looking at sec tapes and guest lists real close. I don't think we want to take the chance of being linked to this that easily. As for the guns, I doubt there are MAD detectors in the parking garage(even if there are, they don't see through vehicles. We just drive the bison as close as it can go to the elevator and boogy. We can take care of the problem of passerbys by having Leblanc lock down the other elevators and close of the garage for a few minutes. |
