First off this game will not start until Into the Barrens has finished. I don't want any specialty characters who are designed for this adventure alone. By specialty characters I mean underwater scientist or Seal shifter etc. Make Shadowrunners who live and work in Seattle. I am not going to say what this game is about yet. Other than it is a departure from my regular games, it is part mystery, part horror. It will take place on, about, or under the ocean.

Guidelines:

125 pt character up to 50 karma
- I like verrying power levels in games.
No custom guns - modified guns are okay
No custom vehicles modified ones are okay (the exception is custom drones are okay)
Guns from Rayguns are okay (just not ammo or rules).
Standard character creation rules 8/12 No Delta cyb, reg bio not cult.

Right now I am looking for a character description not the complete sheet.

Example

[ Spoiler ]

Any questions please post them here so everyone gets the bennefits. DO NOT PM ME unless it is critical that no one else knows what this is about.

Just when I thought I was out, you sucked me back in.
OK, I'm in.

I actually made almost the same guy you did, inspired by the thread in main forum. Except mine was from New Orleans and just loves the sea. Especially in Shark form (yea for shapechange).

I made SinJin for a old game called 'Dimr' that got started but never ran. I used that example because it was some of my best work. Before you talk to me about Shark SHifters, read intro again.

@ Ecclesiastices...

It is unlikely (read: no) that a Troll would be hired for this job. So I should add no huge meta's.

What about midget Trolls?

Ok, so that was just out there... why did that even come to mind? Well, ok, I think of midgets almost as much as I think of sex... though thankfully not at the same time.

Still brainstorming... I may atually make a dwarf for the first time in... well almost forever...

Edit: That's it... I'm making MacGuyver... he's not a Decker, he's not a Rigger, but he's sure as frag handy with a Swiss Army Knife... a more thorough bit will follow...

I'd love to throw my russian electronic / communication girl at you. I just really like the character. She's currently running on the game "Stardust", under Frosty's guiding. She's only got about 13 or so karma, but I guess I could pump her up for the run.

Her basic deal is: ex communication and electronic specialist for the russian army, now working for the russian mob as a surveillance and counter surveillance expert. I know it probably has nothing to do with the run, but given the 50 additonal karma, I could mold her into even more of an electronic expert. If that doesn't suit you, I'll just get something else togheter.

Since I'm already playing on two other threads, I'll be glad to lend my place to someone else looking to play.

Edit: Hey... what about a very laid back jamaican smuggler? ;)

I think you guys misunderstood me.

I did not say "make a character then add 50 karma".

I said "125 pt character up to 50 karma".

That meens 125 pt new characters welcome. Or if you have a character that you would like to use who has 20 karma, shes welcome too. Not, make a character and then bump them up 20 karma.

Considering I got 3 PM's asking me questions I assume no one read what I said, which I guess is normal.

You know, this sounds interesting. What's the deadline for character concepts?

Does the character have to have undersea experience?

Oh, and a question: what does the 12 in 8/12 mean?

I've got a John Constantine-esque character (backstory somewhat ripped off from Constantine's past from the movie; he's a supernatural investigator-type mage). Think he'd be appropriate, or should I think of another one?

Read the original post. We are making normal shadowrunners that don't normally do underwater stuff. He isn't looking for ex-SEALs or whatever.

Hunter: The 8/12 means you can have max rating 8 with max availibility 12.

(Sorry to step on your toes Shadow, but you do it to me all the time, so :P)

I'm definately interested and should be able to get a concept out later today. I'm thinking about using a former merc.

One question though, I scanned your Into the Barrens thread, and it looks like its just getting started. When do you think you'll start this one?

Barrens is a week, maybe two from being completed. I try not to run games that last over a few months. This game will be the exception.

@ Ecc,

I don't step on your toes, just answer questions the way I know you would answer them! And Petty would be fine. I'll PM you with some questions.

I'm sorry, I had a feeling I wasn't clear. Not a shark shifter. A shape change spell. With the focused concentration edge, it's only +1 to TN's and it's way easier to explore the depths as a shark then it is as a guy in a wetsuit. Just watch out for the Orcas :)

I'm writing up a sketch now

Bear, no problem. But remember what I said about specialized characters. You may, or may not get much use for a shapechange spell that turns you into a shark.

@ Slip, sounds good, give me a background in the format presented in my example.

Zack "Tiptoes" Wheeler
Extraction Specialist, Bodyguard, B&E (Human Covert Operations)
Quick Background: As people go, Zack is far from the prettiest and most polite. Left in an unlicensed orphanage in Puyallup, he has never had a family or a SIN. Like most slum kids, he was recruited into a gang. The 'Ashers', as they were called, were just a typical gang, but Zack was an atypical ganger. He brought more than his fair share of cash and stolen goods in from break-ins and rescued more than one of his peers from the hands of a rival gang. After a while, one of his friends introduced him to a guy who said he had a job for Tiptoes, something above and beyond theft and run of the mill kidnapping. This began Zack's Shadowunning career.

Zack, now in his late 20s, has been Shadowrunning for a few years and knows his way around Seattle to a fair degree. He is well-known for his professionalism and perfectionist nature. He's not ugly, but he does tend to be sullen and doesn't talk much; this has been something of an impediment to his relationships over the years. This does not impact his business: as stated before, Zack is all professional on runs. When bodyguarding a client, he speaks only when needed and only on topic. He is mostly self-taught, but shows great talent with electronics, stealth operations and firearms. Appearing to be of Japanese descent, Zack is often hired by Japanacorps who feel more comfortable with a 'countryman' working for them. It also helps that he can speak Japanese.

Zack is driven by a need for approval, a need he cannot fufill through social graces. Instead, he concentrates on perfecting a reputation and an image which will lead to others respecting him for his deeds and ignoring his antisocial attitude. He regularly keeps in contact with his old buddies in the Ashers, funneling them money to keep his pad there open.

He has no flaws or edges.

Ok, I want to play this so bad because undersea adventures sound really cool...but I can't think of a good character for it. For some reason, I'm not as excited about the Constantine character anymore.

So is there a deadline for character concepts? I just want to know how much time I have to think about a concept.
