John "Six" Creed
Pistol Sam, Some B&E, Ex-Lone Star
Background: John Creed is a broken man. He used to believe in the system and that what he was doing was right. At least until he found his partner dead next to three dead hookers, his nose dusted with coke and John's missing Ruger Thunderbolt laying on the floor. He knew it was a setup before he heard the sirens blaring from around the corner. Lone Star lost seven badges that day. John's partner and the six corrupt bastards that tried to take him down. Knowing the Lone Star state was too hot, John had to bolt. With a little help from a few remaining friends on the force and one that had jumped to Knight Errant, John found his way to Seattle. His buddy offered him a job with KE, but he just didn't have it in him anymore. He knew that even though Lone Star wasn't the top dog in Seattle, they would still be gunning for him, so he faded into the Seattle shadows, where he remains.

Merits: Ambidexterity - 8

Flaws: Compulsive moderate - Cigars
Police Record - Lone Star

Alright, I think I have a good idea for a character:

Name: Not Decided Yet (I'll come up with it later)
Concept: Escaped Super-Soldier

The character was once a member of the UCAS Army, until he was "drafted" (read: forced) by Ares into a super-soldier project in which he had a bunch of cyberware implanted to make him nothing short of a killing machine. He escaped from the facility using the cyberware given him, along with another super soldier (A level-3 contact). He's somewhat Wolverine-esque in terms of his personality - he doesn't relate too well to others, though he does have protective instincts that make him a valuable teammate. He's constantly haunted by his past (represented by the flaws "Flashbacks.") He also has the flaw "Mysterious Cyberware." He runs the shadows to live (his services - and his cyberware - are useful to many employees), but he also feels a responsibility to stop megacorporate and governmental black ops projects like what he went through, even though this puts him at constant risk for flashbacks (horrific corporate/governmental black ops projects are his Flashbacks trigger).

"Spartan"
Real Name: David Armstrong
Former Mercenary, Heavy Weapons
Ork

Joined the CAS military at 18, ending up in the equilivant of Force Recon. He took part in disastrous raid into aztlan territory where his thunderbird was shot down. With the rest of his squadmate he managed to fight his way to the coast for extraction. While waiting for pickup was mortally wounded and crippled. What was left of the squad pulled him out. Internal military politics led to an investigation into raid, where David became symbolic of the units failure. Dishonorably discharged along with the rest of his team, David languished in an ork charity hospital for months, essentially waiting to die. His former squad and commander paid for the cyberware to fix him. The unit went mercenary, seeing action in hotspots around the world. The unit recently split up, and David ended up in Seattle and became a shadowrunner.

Heavily cybered, most comfortable with heavy weapons. Considers himself a tactical, not strategical and happy to question "how" not "why". Gets along well with teammates, leads by example not words.

QUOTE (Ecclesiastes)
Read the original post.  We are making normal shadowrunners that don't normally do underwater stuff.  He isn't looking for ex-SEALs or whatever

Hmm; I guess I misread the original post; I had [edit]resumed work[/edit] on a generic Ex-SEAL type (what can I say, I had just read Tom Clancy's "Without Remorse") -- diving, swimming, parachiting, some motorboat skill, along with lots of languages and other useful skills.

Considering that I had not finished the character (and indeed, still haven't -- I'm trying to avoid adding Wired, but not sure if that makes sense), I figured "Why not finish it up, and flesh it out for this game". Would such a character be OK to use? I'm not making him with the intent to be specialized for this game, but he does seem well suited. I'd want to play him in a normal game, but there aren't many games with room for a guy w/ a motorboat... (Hmm, maybe there are some high-seas / smuggling / piracy type games I have missed.)

"Vertigo"
Real Name: Angelicia "Angel" Martinez

Infiltration Expert / Illusionist [illusion aspected mage adept] (uses a mix of magic and high tech gadgets to infiltrate secure locations).
Can also function as a Face (uses masking, disquise and quick talk)

Hispanic Human of slight, but athletic build. Vertigo has short cropped black hair, brown eyes and brown skin. She is 24 years old.

Orphaned at a young age, Angelicia grew up on the streets of a rough Hispanic neighborhood in the Redmond barrens. Young, innocent and attractive Angel was on the fast track to a life of teenage prostitution when, at the age of fourteen, she became aware of certain useful “abilities”. She could blend into a crowd, or her environment. Often it seemed that people wouldn’t notice her if she didn’t want them to. Sometime she would imagine being so quiet that she could hear her own heart beating in her chest, and if she really concentrated she could hide that sound too. It wasn’t long before Angel was subsiding on petty thievery and pick pocketing - and she was good. Her “abilities” were also useful when it came to avoiding the roving street gangs and womanizing pimps and for awhile Angel managed to stay out of trouble for the most part. Eventually she was noticed by and taken in by an elderly Cat shaman who taught her to apply her magical talents. But after her adoptive grandmother's untimely demise she turned back to a life of crime to pay the bills, this time as a devistatingly effective cat burglar and art theif. Eventually, Vertigo realized that the real money was in hitting corporate targets, and she soon turned to shadowrunning.

Feircely independant, Vertigo has learned that the only way to survive is to depend on her self. While this makes her ideal as an infiltrator, she sometimes has a tendancy to get in over her head...

(Shadow: Not a team player, but sometimes that can be fun too. :) I think I want to design her as a mage adept with a water alignment geas NOT because of the campaign setting but because of her focus on illusion spells. Let me know if thats cool.)

[edit] let me clarify: it will be fun to role play her in situations where she needs to trust a team to save her own ass...[/edit]

A ex-seal would be fine. Though I don't think you can accuratly make one with a 125 points. Give it a try though.

If there's any doubt on my character's plays-nicely-with-others, he strives to be pure professional. It's all about the job, and the team is part of the job.

Cool! :)

Yeah, build points-wise it was hard ... at least, it was since I spent pts on resources that could have been used for skills. (A speedboat is GREAT for smuggling ;)). I ended up dropping some of the skills - which makes me unhappy... =/ (thrown weapons, that sort of thing ;)).

Hi...

I know I've not posted in ages, but I was kinda worried about not failing college and so haven't really checked Dumpshock in ages..

Anyway, if you've still got space and can give me a day or so to come up with a concept I like then count me in.

I'll probably play some form of gunslinger, as I've not played in ages and it's the one form of character I'm familiar with, but I'll see what I can come up with.

Wanted to see if I could come up with something using the results of my generator. So here are two potentials. Two unusual characters in personality and past - hopefully outside the normal tropes.

A 'Face / Fixer' and a 'Face / Rigger'

1. Bard (new character)
Dwarven Decker/Face

They call me the bard. Odd, that, considering I ain't a performer and I'm mostly tone deaf. Null that, I'm all tone deaf. I guess it's ironic, or something, since my music is all data. You know those factories that are staffed by like two trolls for security and a decker and the rest are new-fangled robo-workers? I was that deck. Emphasis on "was." Thirteen years I worked for them and they just kick my ass out for some dumb-ass smart frame to do my job. Like a smart frame can anticipate the needs of the factory or knows the people who know the people to get the best price on replacement parts. Fraggers.

So, now here I am all that security training and nowhere to secure. So, I've been trying my had at insecuring a few places. Sure, my street training may leave a bit to be desired and I have trouble hitting a barn from three paces let alonw ten, but I can probably get access and get you access to anywhere you need accessing. Okay, so that's probably drek, but it sure sounds good! Truthfully, I got other skills than just decking. I can shoot a little and my people skills are top notch. Hell, it's easier, in my experience, to talk your way into the building than getting by all those top-notch firewalls, choke points, and whatnot that someone's always putting together to make our lives harder.

I can take orders when I'm clearly out of my element and I can give 'em when you're clearly in mine. I've heard all the short jokes I care to, but it thickens the skin and toughens the heart, I always say. Take it or leave it, I guess, but if you need me, I'm available at the moment.

[ Spoiler ]

2. Gin (old missions character)
Orkish Raven Shaman

It's amazing the intrigue a woman can cause whe she's not expected to be intelligent enough to do more than clean a septic tank. Consider your average janitor. How many times do you notice her in a day? There she is, capable of learning so much intellectual property as she handles the trash and cleans up your office. Especially, if she's awakened to boot.

That's my job. I'm a whistleblower. I get hired to investigate the activities of individuals and organizations in a way that leaves no trace. Sure, I probably could have done most of what I do as a decker, but the implants would alter my ability to blend with the auras around me and besides, the thrill of infiltration is just what the doctor orders to help you know your alive.

My work is usually long term, but I can work the short term, too. I've got the spells to help you find what you've lost or to hide what you don't want found. I got the skills to get me in and out of a place and I got a face only a mother could love and maybe even she don't want to look at. All of which helps me in my more usual line of work. But, frankly, long term stakeouts cost a bit of cred and it doesn't always return in nuyen what I spend on manufacuring identities, so I figure its time to branch out.

------------------

Throwing two characters at you. I'll play either one. Gin's been an old friend for a few other games so I know a little bit more about how she's going to operate and Bard is someone I put together recently as an NPC that I think I'd like to get to know better. You've got a heap of submissions here so feel free to tell me to take a walk, but I figured since it was your post to my old DCRS thread that brought me back to this bipolar place we all know and love, I'd return the favor by signing my name by the X.

I got sheets for both Gin and Bard, though Gin is an SR Missions character and not a BP build. One thing to note: my old GM let Gin do an astral quest to learn Masking. You have a problem with that? If not then she'll know that metamagic, but if you don't allow that sort of thing then that's understood as well.

Ok so we have one week left for character idea submissions. This is good and bad. I compiled all the character submissions so far save one. I am sorry Arcady, I want a character someone put thought into, not randomly generated. Feel free to resubmit.

Everyone is welcome to submit more than one character if they want. I am looking for 6-8 people for this, but in reality 3 of those slots are already taken by Bearclaw, Method, and Gryo. They were the ones who contributed to the thread that is the genesis of this game, so there in.
