The winning tourny team at GenCon also got pre-editor copys of the book. Seemed Sharon had a few boxes of them in the back she was handing out to friends (and their friends).
So far its not too bad =) |

There was an pre-release copy on Ebay not too long ago, but it went for almost twice the suggested cover price, so I had to let it go. But now that I have all the ordering info I need, I can let my local Borders or Barnes & Noble get it for me. 8)

The pre-release novel went for a lot more than I was willing to pay for, but the Barnes & Noble near me can order books in advance & get it in by the release date. :)
I just today picked up the latest Previews catalog, and here's what I found on p.492; Shadowrun Book 2: Poison Agendas MMPB Shadowrunner Kellan Colt thinks she's ready to strike out on her own when she discovers the location of a secret cache of military weaponry--right in the heart of the supernatural creature-infested Awakened Wilderness! Sceduled to ship in Dec. 2005 (CAUT-4) DIA 294798...........$6.99 The "CAUT-4" rating means it may ship sometime in Feb. 2006 |

does anyone else find the runners names in the shadowrun novels a bit cheesy? Like Dirk Montgomery ( good books, bad names) , or "Kellan Colt"? Is it just me? I mean sure, you get all the street names which can have their own cheese to them. but these so called real names.... I dunno, that's my rant. I'm done.
Thanks BW. hehe... BW.. GW... hehe |

Finished reading the new novel....awesome!!
Yes, some of the names are a bit cheesy, but it is also good to see a return of a few old faces, such as Green Lucifer. And the copy didnt cost THAT much..... Ferratus Modesto, CalFree underwater habitat |

I've read it too, and it's rather entertaining. It's very much a "beginner" Shadowrun novel, in that it's meant to introduce the world to new readers and re-introduce the world to those who haven't read a Shadowrun novel in years -- but it's fun enough for an evening read.

Since the books were written as a Duels tie-in, I take it that they're firmly Shadowrun 3 version books as it were?
Hey Adam, on a slightly related note this reminded me that wasn't there some kind of recording done of the What's Up with Shadowrun talk and possibly putting it up online? Or am I losing my marbles? |

Yes, very much a SR3 book. But it has a good romp of a feel to it....good action, fun story.
I give it a thumbs up! |

The first six books are SR3 in timeline; if WizKids publishes beyond that, they're planning on catching up to the 70s.
And yes, the Shadowrun seminar was recorded and I do have a copy of it, although I haven't had time to even listen to it yet. Additionally, Flak, you haven't had any marbles to lose for a long, long time. |

Just a note to everyone I organized a Book Signing at Pandemonium Books and Games in Boston Saturday November 12th. I'll also be promoting Shadowrun 4th edition out in front of the store. (They don't have game space) Stephen doesn't do much with SR anymore and only did minimal conceptual development for SR4 in it's earliest stages. He's the line developer for Mutants and Master Minds and will be promoting some of there stuff as well.
From what I can tell he's fairly laid back overall. So if your in the area come on by. I'll be posting an official post in a week or two. I won't be able to respond, I've got to jet out to Salem Hosptial for work. Message me if you have any questions on the event. |

I love the Shadowrun Novels, but I'm sad to see the art is still so cheesy (well, judging by the cover of the new book). Why can't we have cyberpunk novels that go beyond the 80's vision of it?

Order your copy via your local Barnes & Noble or Borders bookstores. Make sure you have everything (title, author, printer & ISBN # from the main SR site). I ordered mine on Nov. 1st & it came in 5 days later :D. Am already on chapter 5 & will update in a couple of weeks after finishing.
Stephen Kenson (the author) is using the characters from the Shadowrun Duels figure 'game'. More later. |

Agreed, Casazil, but my local B&N didn't know about it until I ordered it. Sometimes it's just easier to do it that way.

Well, finished the book last night on the 3 am train home from NYC. I have to say, Steven Kenson has not disappointed me yet with his storytelling. To me, it doesn't come off arrogant, rules-pointing nor does his style have that "this-is-canon-live-with-it" that other SR novels have had (Steel Rain had that, IMHO). I'm looking forward to his next SR novel in January. :D
