I have looked pretty hard but I can't find any rules for layering armor or having more than one piece of armor? I am hoping I just missed something. Has anyone else find rules on layering?

Anyone want to comment on why it was taken out? and if it will be in a later expansion?

But you are slowed for all of them |

Thats not layering armor. 'Only the highest piece counts' is the same as saying don't wear more than one piece of armor.

You could get one piece with high impact and one with high ballistic and combine these...

Actually, if you combine a Leather Jacket with Armor Clothing, you gain 2 Points Impact Armor... wheee. As this would cause an encumbrance of 6/2, somebody with Body 3+ could do that. |

If you really want to preserve the old armor layering rules, simply use the armor values listed in SR3. The SR4 armor values were given a significant boost, probably because the layering rules were removed.

I don't like house rules. Not at all. Having to house rule a game to make it work, or to make me like it is a sign of a bad game... imho.

Hrm, actually, this would cause you to have less armor sometimes.

I've yet to find a game that I was completely happy with in every respect.

i often played high Quickness shadowrunnners in SR3, and found myself layering armor a lot. It never felt right about it, but i usually didn't have enough Body to not layer. i'm glad it's gone, and i'm even more glad that how much armor you can wear is no longer linked to Quickness (or the SR4 equivalent(s)).

So is there still Formfit, or is that gone too? Also does this mean the Armour spell & Mystic Armour are no longer cumulative with worn armour?

Armor and Mystic Armor still stack. Mystic Armor actually works for ballistic and impact armor, now, too. But, there's no form fitting body armor in SR4. But, the good news is that they standardized a ruthenium suit, called the Chameleon Suit, in the main book. Much easier than having to construct such a monstrosity in SR3.
