Well, me and the crew are undertaking learning SR4 now...seems simple, but i figure the best way to do it is just to start playing. To better learn, I was thinking of GMing our crew in something, just so we can all get a feel on how all the new rules work in all aspects.
I have been working on the basics for a full module(just like any module you'd buy but well, just home written), and I was considering using that.
Ive GMd many times before..i usually prefer a more open ended style(not big on railroading), and that seems to be the one drawback to modules...is that even tho some are more open than others..there is the railroad factor involved. Im attempting to try at least a little bit of open endedness to the mod.
I recall the Harlequin module being rather open ended for a mod..and a few other ones I read railroad deluxe.
But i figure, by writing a mod(who knows, maybe i can stick it online on some fansite after...even tho im taking a few liberties with the storyline like creating a corp, a couple magical groups, non canon gangs, etc) for the PCs, we can get the hang of the rules easier by actually HAVING that little bit of railroading(ie..less stuff to worry about). Hmm..understand at all?
What do you guys thing of mods..fans..not fans...or whatnot? Decent way to learn a new system? (hell, even me writing the mod im learning some stuff...)
