Full Version: SR4 Character Sheet

Nawak
Hello world,

That's my first post on the Dumpshock Forums, even if that make a long time I read your threads. I am a Shadowrun fan, since the 2nd release (my first RPG book in gamemastering experience), and I must say that the work made on the 4th is e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t !
My congratulations to the teamwork and testers all over the world.

*But* (there's always a "but") the character sheet is not well-thought. No place to write, lack of practical, etc. As I was a graphic designer (I'm now in network & telecom trainee - but my life is not really important here, right ? lol), I thus have remakes it to be more "user-friendly" (and printer friendly, too).

You will found -> HERE <- a PDF file (4.5 Mo, adobe acrobat reader 6+ required), ready to print, in 3x european A4 format (210 mm x 297 mm). If you prefer an archive, then go -> THERE <- (WinRAR 3.5 - 1 Mo). Files are hosted on my personal website, in France, so be patient if you've no fast response/download.

I hope you will appreciate my work.
And... good run !

Looks fine! smile.gif

Will you design more specific sheets, i.e. for sammies (more space for implants), amges (more space for spells) etc.?

Hello there.

While i like the more simplistic look of the sheets you made (and you made them well), the Circles you made for writing the stats in are impractical.

It is easy to fit the normal value in, but you also have to consider that someone adds his augmented values in parentheses behind the normal ones (somehing like 4(6)). And as i testet the sheet, the values didn't quite fit well. i was forced to scribble them behind the circle.
Maybe you should consider an ellipse instead.
Bullet Raven
The circles are ok because there is loads of spare room to write your augmented stat next to it; in fact because the circle is there you don't necessarily need parenthesis to contain the augmented stat.

I think it's a success, although there should definitely, as said, be variants catering to different archetypes. Unfortunately, a massive spells list is no good for my mundane hacker so a three-page sheet is no good smile.gif

I'll give them a go in my game if I ever get it going smile.gif

Nice work!

Just curious if anyone knows if a new set of Wordman Sheets are in the making for the new edition, or if Wordman is still in the loop at all.

Tanka
I think Wordman fell out of the loop.
Adam
Over on ShadowRN, he offered to update the sheets in early September, if a collective donation of $2,000 was made to 'a worthy charity' by the end of October.

I don't believe anything came of it.
Grinder
Quel surprise.

The sheet looks good.
Of course, it's always easier to make a character sheet with lots of space when you're using 3 pages instead of 2 wink.gif
Nawak
Merci.
Thank you.

I don't know if I will realize more specialized sheets, that was not in my agenda. Maybe (that's a superb answer, no ?). Really, I don't know (when we will be able to place 8 hours more in a day, perhaps ? lol).

Sure.

Place all elements in 2 sheets, and you obtain something like... the original SR4 character sheet - not practical - (hum). My objective was to create an user-friendly character sheet, with the essential for all character types, "ready to play". Not to make THE ultimate one.

Morover :

CODE
var noPlace:Boolean = false;

function myCharacter(){
   if (noPlace == true){
         trace ("alert");
         getNewPenAndPaper;
    }else{
         continueWriting;
};
myCharacter();

Warf !
explanation : if you need more place for Spells, Powers, Contacts, Gear, you can always take a new paper sheet.

Nice work, Nawak. notworthy.gif

Compliments on the sheets, me and my group are actually using them right now and they're working fine.

the only critique we have thought up was the lack of a section in the skills area to state the linked attribute. So basically thats the only fault we've found so far, making it above the original SR4 sheets so far.

I was simply pointing out that to fairly compare 2 things (your character sheet and the SR4 one), they have to be similar. IMHO, saying that a CS using 3 pages is better organized or look better than the SR4 CS is not a valid comparison.
I'll say a CS is better than the SR4 CS if someone can make a better looking/organized CS that fits in 2 pages. That's all I meant.

Now, to be clear, I don't really like 3 pages CS. I like having everything on the same piece of paper, using front and back of the sheet. If you want to use more than 2 pages, then I'd say go for 4! Even more room, and you can put more details, a larger space for character picture or misc notes, etc. Of course, YMMV.

I think all first-posters should submit something to the community before posting anything. Elf pr0n would be accepted if they lack imagination.
Drace
Ya, except there are those of us who are lacking all positive creating abilities.

Also, to get down to 2 pages, there could be specialized pages, with the same front being used by all, and a seperate back used for each archtype (samuria with extra room for 'ware, adept with extra room for powers, Mages with spells, TMs with complex forms etc.)
Nawak
Be cool.

You like the new CS I made and use it ?
-> biggrin.gif

You dislike the CS / the format / my nickname / etc. ?
I realized it for *me* in a first place, and then shared it.
Then, I think I will survive (Gloria Gaynor © - warf -).

That's a challenge !

In my opinion, it's a mistake to believe in a complete and practical CS in only 2 sheets. Or you write with a microscope thereafter. That's I wished to mean by using my comparison.

It is difficult for me to determine the tone employed in your comment. I feel like an... "opposition" (my nationality, maybe ? - lol -) who could be clarified with this little explanation.

Hem...
What is an Elf pr0n ?
You don't mean... an elf porn (if you place letters in the right order) ?

Hey Newak, what font did you use in this file? I really like it, and I'd like to make a few changes to use it with a homebrew campaign I'm running in a fantasy setting.

Well, you could always use an 11x17 sheet of paper. Then you'd have plenty of room.
