Jestercat
Well...here's what I did for my "combat hacker" - he's got a bit of everything in him, Hacker, Rigger, socialite...because I have to cover for a team of newbs. I've got a solid mage backing me up, but...he's going Uneducated, and I have no idea what the other player is going to be bringing, but I'm hoping it's not a Covert Ops char (she has a habit of attracting attention with any character she plays, sneaky or not).

So here I present the stats for Ara, the Jestercat!

Thoughts? Anything blatantly missed?

This looks like a character who is intended to grow. As such, I'd strongly consider dropping the specializations and bumping up the skills a bit. Specializations are cheap to buy with Karma, skills are not.

It seems like you'd have a conflict between incompetent(instruction) and small unit tactics, since with SUT, you'd be instructing people what to do. I realize that they are seperate skills gamewise, but it seems logically that they would conflict. Though that may be because I don't know the characters background.
Jestercat
Mmm. You make a point...but the thing is, his knowledge of tactics is solid - his passing-on of said tactics wouldn't be at times, because of his personality shifts. If he's going to use his C&C skills to their fullest potential, he'll have to get past that barrier with his team - which of course is an RP challenge.

As for the specializations...I don't know how much Karma I'll be earning, as it's a short campaign (I probably should've mentioned that). Also, the only specs that I'd consider pitching (because they're not tied into his roleplaying scheme) would be Tubmble (oh great, my dodge hits the dirt) and Heavy Pistols (my attack hits the dirt).

Still...it's an interesting idea. I'm just not sure if I could do that.

I don't think you can specialize in Pistols (Heavy Pistols) You'd have to pick hold outs, revolvers, tasers or semiauto's.
ElFenrir
He seems pretty well rounded. You have a pretty extensive skillset there. For Heavy Pistols you might want to go Semiautomatics for that one, since that's where the Predator lies.

What kind of mental problems are we talking about, anway?
Jestercat
I can take a Semiautomatics spec, not a Heavy Pistols spec? Ack - got confused by the sample characters. Semiautos is broader than Heavy Pistols anyway, I'll take that! smile.gif

Note that one of the sample characters does specialize in Light Pistols.

As for SUT vs Instruction they are both very different skills.

One is knowing how to organize a small unit and direct it where to go. It includes knowing where to put people, but telling them to go there and convincing them to do so is Leadership.
Instruction is not just telling someone how to do something, it is passing on knowledge so that they can do it themselves. It is teaching them the way they need to act, talk or what have you to actually be capable on their own.

Entirely different.
Other than that, looks cool

Thanks. I'll try to give a campaign synopsis sometime in the new year - it's a 5-day marathon running from the 26-30th. 5 days, and probably about 40 hours of Shadowrun crammed in. Maybe more if I want to annoy my mother, since I'm stuck at her place for the holidays (I'm rounding up my high school buddies and making use of my old gaming table again, whee!).
