Full Version: [Dragons6thW] How fast can dragons fly?

I remember in the Vertigo comic Fable that no dragon can beat a fighter jet. Which makes sense, since in D&D, the dragons fly much more slowly than a fighter jet and their fire breath would be a liability in a dogfight. The dragons in SR, though, hover and fly with magic. Seeing as how dragons' magic is innate and powerful enough to easily level cities occupied by several high-tech armies, how fast DO they fly? Can they beat a fighter jet?

I think they fly as fast as their quickness and quickness multiplier but I'm not sure. You can assume the dragon's will have one of it's summoned spirits use it's movement power on it though too if it needs to move fast.

Do spirits really help speed that much? I read in Knights of the Dinner Table that one group had a spirit speed up an airplane fast enough to evade radar and visual detection; can that actually happen?

From what I recall of ED, it says (somewhere) that dragons can fly (IIRC) about 120 miles in an hour or two. In reference to Icewing or Mountainshadow meeting within an hours flight of his lair, which could be a large area because they can fly 120 miles in an hour or perhaps two. I knwo that's a big difference, sorry.

As for planes and fast movement, yes it should be possible, there's a few other threads on the subject. But it would have to be prety damn fast to out run radar waves.

Where are the threads on that subject?

try doing a search. Or just browse through old topics. Lots of good gems out there. Specifically, try searching for the 'Fast Movement' power. That's the thread you're looking for, fast movement on vehicles.

As for dragon flight movement, I'll look into my ED book I was referring to and get back to you on that, so I can get you a deent answer.

Bear in mind that airliner would likely have burst into flames doing that.

not to mention everyone aboard throwing up. But that's what these tests are for!
