Anyone else seen this yet- Keira Knightly as an LA bounty hunter. It is pretty good for a "run gone bad" adventure. More gritty and violent than "The Usual Suspects."
It is supposed to be based on a real story, of a pampered rich girl/model turned bounty hunter. The Real Domino Harvey died after the movie was made but before it was released. I think it was an OD. In the credits at the end they showed the real woman. She looks more like Annie Lennox on a bad day, than Kierra Knightly.

i have to agree, great example of a run gone bad, not quite as good an example as "The Big Hit" was but then again i liked its comedy aspect a bit more.
other run gone bad movies include:
Lock stock and two smoking barrels
Snatch

Oh, man, I hated that movie... One of the few films I've seen last year I actually seriously thought of walking out of. It could have been a good story with better writing and coherent direction, but it was just a horrible mess. When you try to do a storyline with multiple apparently unrelated plotlines twisting together in an unexpected way, you have to know when to stop adding in more threads, because you either get it right, or it's shit. There's very little middle ground.
I like Kiera Knightly and you see a lot of her in it, but even that didn't make up for how awful it was...
Though I suppose I could see a real shadowrunner group getting called in to deal with a mess caused by a bunch of amateurs like Domino and Co.

i thought it hung together pretty well. it wasn't supposed to be a tight story; the whole theme of it was how many different possibilities there are in any situation.

I always saw it as a great first episode of a good tv series, but not all that great as a movie.

Yeah, and my players haven't seen it.
"It's an easy run. You'll be the getaway car and some muscle to make sure the getaway goes correctly. Several other...contractors...will be meeting you at about 3pm with large dufflebags, wearing dead Presidents face masks. You then just have to drive them from one end of the metroplex to the other, where there's a safehouse. Easy money. What could go wrong?"

Previous threadI recently watched it again as a rental. I still think it's good, but I can easily see why some wouldn't.

When gaming bombed for the evening, I saw UV with some friends. It was an adequate way to pass the evening. Milla Jovavitch in tight leather was entertaining but...
I think the summary from my group was that, "It was a Matrix-wannabe, with a dash of vampires, an extra helping of angst, and lower production values."

No vodka, but I had a nice dinner with friends right before, so I was feeling rather happy and mellow, and willing to just enjoy the pretty colors and the occasional good scene.

A local theater listing website with a user review section had this in it.
I would have lowed my rating another 5 points if it didn't have Milla Jovavitch in tight clothing. He had given it a 2 out of 10.

So you know, if you ever think about switching teams keep this one in mind for a renter to play with the Mute on. Otherwise I guess not.

No, I just am not interested in another woman in tight leather. Ben Afflac sure, but not a woman, sorry, I'm straight.
to get back to domino, a great sr momment is:
[ Spoiler ]
when they go in the top of the cassio they calmly check their guns at the door, then walk in and the thugs are carrying SMG's.
It should be one of those entries in a list "You know you're hosed when"

Seriously, I thought it was over-indulgent eye-candy wrapped around violence meant to distract you form the shallow plot. There were too many things that just seemed to be done 'cause it looked good visually. (Just my 2

, not trying to be mean)
I haven't seen Domino, but it was recommended by a friend with similar tastes to mine.

What can I say? I have this teeshirt-it says I hate stupid people. I want to get one that says "I hate stupid people, especially ones who think they're entitled to respect by being a bully, snitching and doing it all while singularly being unable to capitalize, spell, or punctuate."
Of course I can't do any of those things either. Then again, I'm not a stupid bully.
