Is there a good non-SR specific website out there to find fellow gamers in my area?
Azralon
Lessee... There's plothook.net, the Yahoo groups, and burningvoid.com that I can think of offhand.

I can't vouch for the quality of any of those, but (at least) one buddy of mine has used them before.

You could try the registry of this forum.

Azralon: thanks! I'll try those out.

UndeadPoet: I said non-Sr specific. I doubt there's lots of traffic here from non-SR players. smile.gif

Edit: and I already registered there.

Those don't look like setups where people go to meet new gamers, which is what I was primarily looking for.

While I agree that I was missing this passage(was watching some comedy show - bad excuse, I know biggrin.gif), most people who play RPGs play not only one of them. Just ask here, heh?
Azralon
I just poked around on Plothook and Burning Void, and I gotta agree that they don't look all that useful. I did find http://www.plothook.net/RPG/forumdisplay.php?f=40 for a "meet players" deal, but it doesn't look too extensive.

Try Googling for "gamer classifieds" or some such? It'd probably be easier to hit a specific game's site to look for people.

Or just be one of those guys who hangs out at a gaming store for 5 hours a day. I'm sure you'll meet all sorts of freaks. I mean folks. Folks.
James McMurray
Yeah, but those would be SR players who also play other games, not non-Sr players. smile.gif

And watching TV is never a bad excuse. It's the American Way.

And that is what keeps me bothered. grinbig.gif

Misunderstood your request about non-SR players.

Two other spots to try:

RPG.net

EN World
Mute
Try googling around for roleplayers in your area, and don't forget to try to bulletin boards at your local gaming store. If nothing turns up, you can always do what I did and just create the resources you were looking for.

If you live in a major city, I'd recommend http://www.meetup.com
Aku
toy could also try myspace.
