ID SniperA whole new level of peril for those runners who want to stay 'low profile'.
Or alternatively, a new toy for your resident gun specialist looking to keep tabs on the target.
Edit: Turns out it's a parody site, boy is my face red.

Still, it's a nifty game idea whether it exists RL or not.

....I've been working on a similar concept of an RFID tagger weapon.
Very nice. Need to convince my GM to let Violet have one.

It's the ultimate weapon in a world of information. I don't think any character will take a piss without doing a bug scan from now on.

Time for a little more paranoia in the PCs lives.

Hasn't anyone read the Cannon Companion? Tracking rounds already do this...

I thought those felt like a bullet, though? And honestly, it was hard to read the CC straight after reading the AV round entry.

Me and my anti-tank streetline special disagree with you

Seriously, though... *looks up CC entry* it looks like they behave as regular ammunition, and even if they don't take damage you get to roll 1d6; on a 1 or 6 the round lodges in the target's armor. A bit more obtrusive than that thingie, I guess.

Luckily, R3 made it plausible that only autocannons could load AV ammo.

Where'd you find out it was parody?

If a website for a product offers no information on how to purchase it, then that product is most likely fake. Like
Bonsai Kitten!

You like playfully batting things with your paw, don't you? Try batting... the inside of a JAR!!!

I have this mental image.
My wife picking up the bonsai kitten and shaking it violently trying to get it to mewl at her...

...yeah, but Tracker Rounds, like so many other cool toys, went *poof* when SR4 came about. As I understand it is going be a long wait before they may show up again since the combat supplement is at best third down the list (which would make it's release somewhere around December - January if we are so lucky).

Well, with SR4 you can add an RFID to regular bullets along with a skinlink and some agents: now you can shoot people and attack their PAN and cyberware at the same time.

0.11mm "bullet" with an effective range of 1100 meters... Feels like a "mosquito bite" on impact. Uh huh. Time for someone to lay off the chronic.

Ahh, I haven't bothered much with 4th, mostly because my group plays 3rd, has a lot of books, and saw no reason to change with the edition. I do remember similar problems from the time of the 2nd-3rd changeover, where the fun toys from FoF (and to a lesser extent SSC) weren't available anymore. Of course, the basic structure of the rules (especially with regards to equipment) hadn't changed much, so we just adapted the stuff that existed. Not sure how well that would apply to this situation.
You know, if they didn't cost a minimum of 2000¥ per shot, it might be worth the while of corps to pack tracker rounds instead of standard in all of their guns. Would make tracking down those pesky intruders easier, not to mention ending "evaporation" from the armories
