How does Zelda sculpt VR? While the new rules make this less of an issue than before, I am curious. Does it look like the 8-bit Zelda game or somehting else.
Kiedo
Found another one, which I'm almost ashamed to admit I missed, since the Dark Tower Series is my favorite book series.

Jake Chambers - (Stephen King's The Dark Tower Series - John "Jake" Chambers, sometimes called, The Boy).

@Nikoli would you mind if Wes, called Jake, the boy every once in a while? Not to his face, because I can't really think of a way to work that in, but maybe as a conversation with Raven, Wes' other as it were (yeah I borrowed the term other from TDTS too, if you were wondering).

That is operating under the assumption that the characters know one another, of course.

@Alex Just for my sanity's sake, who is all in the room as of right now?

I know Rooster, Caz, Jack, and myself for sure. But I've sort of skimmed posts that didn't directly apply to me recently, for various reasons.
last_of_the_great_mikeys
I know I haven't exactly been playing like Jack knows all these guys, but I figure he knows them more along the lines of "seen them around" more than actually having worked with them. After all, he's sorta new to the mid-time.
JDragon
Ok, since it looks like I was one of the last to show up, I'm just keeping my mouth shut for the time being.

I know we talked about knowing each other, but now that I think about it, based on my character history you may know of him one of two ways.

# 1 - Prison - somewhere in the Seattle area

# 2 - The Big Easy - seen him wandering around in the last few weeks.

Just let me know, but unless I hear other wise I'm going to go on the basis that I "may" have seen some of you around town, but not much more than that.

Hope this isn't a problem, just what seems to make more sense now that I think about it.

All,

From my count eveyone is officially in the back room except Zelda who will be arriving at some point in the continuum, although I don't know exactly when.

Whizbang, if you are OK with it, lets have Zelda show up at 2200 or so.

I know that several of your characters are looking into the basis of the run. I am not stalling nor attempting to fake you out on this one. I set the threshold high becuase this run is not your typical Shadowrun and therefore would not be on the "normal" radar screens.
Whizbang
Works for me. Will post heading to the bar when I have the time, probably later tonight.
Nikoli
I'm cool with us all being in the room at stated.
ludomastro
@ Whizbang

No worries about the IC thread, I am trust trying to make sure that the game stays moving.

@ All

Assume that Mordred has brought your characters their food and that it was tasty. I be back on latter today for more posts.
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Hey, Alex, I had assumed I had my pistol with me. Would you rather I assume I checked it or would my licence allow me to keep it with me? Jack would not rock the boat if he was questioned about it. He would mention he has a licence for it but would check his pistol if asked. Its a fake licence rating 4.
Whizbang
Want to just assume that I get escorted on in, so we can go on and get the ball rolling?
ludomastro
@last ... mikeys

You would have been asked to check your pistol.

[ Spoiler ]

@whizbang

Done
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Consider it checked.
ludomastro
@Kiedo

Dr. Smith
Perception 4 + Charisma 2 = 2 hits
Smilin_Jack
Very interesting.... D-Day and Memorial Weekend.

How long have you been cooking this run up Alex?
Kiedo
Easy Company, band of brothers was a good book.

They were some major players back in world war two, they fought in D-Day, Operation Market Garden, and The Battle of the Bulge. Some real tough men. I talked to my grandfather about them just the other day (he served in WWII).

It's going to be hard for me to have Wes not know all the things about them that I know, because honestly Wes hates history. Raven likes it but Wes never really listens to him.
Whizbang
Hmm....of course, always the confusion if it's 15000 between the two missions for the entire group, or a head....
JDragon
someone could always ask? nyahnyah.gif

Nikoli
My next door neighbor was 101st. John Hurst, good man. Died recently, crazy guy thought his girlfriend was hold up in Mr. Johnny's trailer, so he clubbed Mr. Johnny on the back of the head with a brick, breaking it. Then Mr. johnny fought back, they struggled for a good 20 yards and his cane was broken clean in two places. The man did not go quietly.
ludomastro
I've been think about this run for a while. That it ends up on Memorial Day Weekend just happened to be coincidence.

@last ... mikeys
Our poor Mr. J rolls his 5 dice for Negociation and Charisma and gets four hits (not using edge becuase he doesn't know enough to think he needs it). That gives you a net of 8 hits. We'll up it by 40%.

@Kiedo
Wes is able to tell that Dr. Smith is being genuine. He detects no hint of deception.

@Smilin Jack
Caz racks her brain and only comes up with the fact that this stuff is of little value except for the historical kind. Perhpas he intends to sell it to a collector?
Kiedo
Man, he's giving off a real, "I'm using you to acomplish my own agenda" vibe, to me anyway.
Smilin_Jack
Well... he a Mr. Johnson... erm... I mean Mr. Smith.

Isn't that what he's supposed to do? nyahnyah.gif
last_of_the_great_mikeys
A mere 40% after a critical success? Boooo! nyahnyah.gif
Kiedo
I guess I'm being paranoid.
ludomastro
@Smilin Jack
Nobody (I guess that means me) said that he can't go any higher, only Dr. Smith said he can't go higher ...

@Kiedo
Paranoia is a normal attribute to the cynical, the cautious, the burned and all RPG players.
Whizbang
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
Nikoli
Remember kids, in the Shadows paranoia isn't just a mind affliction, it's a survival mechanism.
ludomastro
Must remember to up difficulty level ...
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Hmmm. I wonder if anyone'll try and trace his call?
Kiedo
I would, but I just have common use programs frown.gif . Wes is a detective, not really a hacker. When I built him I ran out of Nuyen before I got to track and stealth.

@Alex. I know I keep bugging you with lots of tests, but I've got a few more for you.

[ Spoiler ]
Whizbang
Well, since you pointed it out....let me know if I'm using the wrong numbers....

On the general matrix search in AR

Sons of America as it turns out has a site on the Matrix that discusses their public face. They promote the value of history and the importance of its preservation. They feel that they are the true holders of the torch of liberty given that the Northern States sold out to the Amerinds and joined up with liberal Canada. They feel that the Southern Sates can be the salvation of the old USA if the citizens are willing to put the effort into learning from history and elect leaders who will lead not follow.

On Dr. Smith
Nada

Full VR
Sons of America seemed to have been started by a group a masons who rolled elements of the Sons of Liberty, the Sons of Confederate Vetrans, hyper-patriotism for the USA and Masonic symbolism together. The result - acording to several sites out there - is that the Sons of America (SoA) uses its influence to alter political elections and are trying to control government to the greatest extent possible. Some of the most extreme sites out there propose that the SoA is an offshoot or a cover for a branch of the Illuminati. NOT the Illuminatis of the New Dawn mind you but the real Illuminati. All sites agree that policlub activity is NOT one of the skeletons in the proverbial closet of the SoA. There is no mention of Dr. Smith accept for a few different articles that all say the same thing - he was recently inducted in the SoA.
ludomastro
@Whizbang

Looks fine for the purposes we have here. I'll check RAW later.

Caz is able to easily trace the call. The basic programs he is using look to be about two upgrades behind the curve. He dials a number that registers as a location out in the Gulf. He speaks for a few minutes with this number and last cuts the connection before speaking to the group again. Following the trail towards the Gulf leads Caz to locate a house boat and a registered owner - James Chandler.
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Ya know, WES's crazy post wasn't there when I started mine! Damn, boy, you got some issues. grinbig.gif

Anyhoo, I hope Jack's little monologue softens the blow a little and if I need to make any rolls... well Etiquette:4,3,6,4,6,4,3. 2 hits. Negotiation: 6,4,6,6,6,3,5. 5 hits.
Kiedo
I was having fun, lol. Probably got a little carried away. vegm.gif
ludomastro
I'm enjoying the paranoia.

You guys drive hard bargins. Just know that I have ratcheted up the difficultly for this one... It was supposed to be easy.

vegm.gif
Whizbang
Who wants an easy run? smile.gif
Kiedo
yeah, easy is boring. You should up the difficulty to near impossible, and give us tons of nuyen, lol
last_of_the_great_mikeys
You made it more difficult because I rolled awesomely in negotiations? Is it my fault that my character is so kewl? grinbig.gif
ludomastro
@ last ... mikeys
Not because you rolled well, but becasue of the general paranoia of the group. I will make things harder for your enjoyment and the next awsome roll will go up against a true Johnson.
JDragon
So did we get the full half up front? (IE. 1750) Sorry just wanted to make sure my records are correct. biggrin.gif
ludomastro
The team got the ten thousand up front. The four thouasand in stock was the bonus.
JDragon
Ok so we got 10k up front, which since there are six of us gives us each 1666.6 or so.

Cool, thanks.

BTW - having a good time so far.

JDragon
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Now, please clarify for me. Who is on what team?
Kiedo
Wes, Caz and Rooster on one team, everyone else, Hack'ed, Zelda, and Jack on the other.

But that was just a suggestion on Wes' part, we don't have to stick to it, if everyone decides it's not a good course of action.

[edit]
Just for a frame of refrence, and correct me if I'm wrong, I'm trying to figure out what everybody specializes in.

Wes - finding things, problem solving(though thats more me than Wes), and ranged combat.
Caz - hacking
Zelda - hacking?
Hack'ed - irnoically not hacking, magical muscle
Rooster - B&E?
Jack - not really sure...
[/edit]
JDragon
Kiedo - thats correct for Hack'ed

Combat mage in a troll's body, that tried to be a hacker first and ended up in prison.

The arangement works for me, just as long as someone has a ride for me, I was short on cash and did not pick up a vehicle.

JDragon
ludomastro
From where I sit, the group is in charge of the story for a bit. Let me know what your plans are and we'll go from there.
last_of_the_great_mikeys
Jack's an infiltrator. He sets himself into work or social circles and gathers information.

Splitting up is ALWAYS a bad idea.
Kiedo
I agree, but I just ment spilt up for gathering information.

We'll do the deeds as a group.
Kiedo
bump.
