Could we have squeezed a name for our mark out of that IC interaction? I asked a few posts back but stuff sometimes gets lost in OOC threads.
I should have made it an IC post, because threads aren't always the best place to interject 'table talk'.
Speaking of 'table talk', I would encourage our warding team members to participate OOC in our investigation. In the interests of involving everyone and getting the most out of our recon job, which I think we should wrap up this weekend, since it was supposed to last one week, and this is the end of week 2.
Anyway.
Now that we've pissed off some place that's probably protected, let's go have a run in with a pimp!

Good times! Seriously. That was fun.

Sep 8 2006, 04:08 PM
Oops - cross post! I don't think they conflicted too much though.
OOC - here is what I am thinking. Of the four things I suggested, the data search and the work on the dead guy's comm could justifiably eat up some time.
Playing the game could believably take several hours before we turned up whatever lead was there.
Rousting prostitutes would be a fun but post-heavy endeavor, whereas staking out some skanky ones could easily eat up several hours and be a valid IC choice (to be followed by more Chopper intimidation once we get the rest of the team assembled!).
So I vote we divide our efforts into some combination of those four tasks - probably just one or two good posts from each of the four of us stating our intentions and how we go about it might jump us ahead to when the other players could join us.
Maybe, but not necessarily, park the van in a good vantage point for hookers, then one person on the data search, one on the comm, one plays the game, and one watches the girls.
Let me know what y'all think.

adamu - Yes. BS's 'real' name. The one the delivery folks may have known him by. Unless he just goes by byteSIZED. Not that it matters now, if he's dumped it.
AnkleBiter - IC Nathan already sent you information about bS and his interest in MegaKill intended to be a vector for tracking him down - see if he set up any PAN parties and who he plays with, location of his avatar in real space (if the game operates that way), player stats, frequented matrix locations and boards that we can comb to build a profile of him and wher he might be or go.
Hopefully he'll be loathe to let all his MegaKill bragging rights go along with his shed SIN. But I guess we have to be ready for that.
EDIT: And the plan sounds good. Nathan is game. Will post soonest.

JackCouple clarifications -
First - you said the ork had a commlink and three IDs. Was that three IDs ON the commlink, or three separate hard-copy-like IDs?
Second - is this Megakill game famous like Virtual Shooter or something? I mean, is it something we all sort of have some idea about, like whether it's a first-person shooter game or a martial arts game or a strategy game? Interactive? Need a sim module?
Data search for ten minutes, full matrix, ByteSIZE (including photo)/Raye/Sharky or Shanky
Prioritize hits on some combination of the three, but if no joy will settle for hits on any two
[ Spoiler ]
Data Search + Browse = 7 dice
1. 2 6 3 2 6 4 4
2. 4 5 3 4 4 4 4
3. 2 6 5 6 4 1 5
4. 4 1 2 2 1 6 3
5. 4 6 3 6 6 5 4
6. 1 1 1 5 6 6 6
7. 2 5 3 4 4 6 4
8. 1 1 1 1 3 1 1 Crit Glitch Use Edge /Roll Bad Luck = 1 = Some sort of heinous reverse effect of cancelling critical glitch. I won't venture to guess what your ruling will be, so I'll just keep racking up successes and wait for your decision on the final outcome.
9. 1 1 4 5 1 6 5
10. 4 5 5 5 1 6 6 = 26 total successes (or perhaps many many less than that!)

Has 3 ID's. My personal take on ID's is that you'd (usually) have a hardcopy which plugs in to the commlink, that transmits it out. My reasoning is that what would you do if you changed to a newer model comm (this is mostly a concern for legitamate types) Also in my mind it paints a clearer picture to plug it in....hmmm who shall i be today, as i shuffle through ids.
MegaKill is popular but not to the extent Miracle Shooter is. It runs Hot, the premise is that you are in an urban wasteland after world war 4.There is martial arts as well as weapons. People band together in tribes or as wandering raiders. byteSIZED is the warchief of the Uk to'k.
Info on who is priority?(and what sources are you using on the 'trix?)

Jack, the prioritizations I mentioned for my data search were just for using the browse to hit the major search engines - as in, abstracted die-roll-style data search (per p.220 - search area - Entire Matrix). To clarify that, I was prioritizing any hits I could get on the combination of all three names i.e. byteSIZED + Raye + Sharky or Shanky. With no hits there, would look for any pairing from within the three.
But IC the sites I am concentrating on in my search for combinations of those names are:
The Megakill equivalents of Dumpshock
Chat boards where guys sit around rating prostitutes (sad fact that such things exist for most cities in the world today), narrowing it to Seattle and hopefully down to Bellevue.
Prostitution outcall services. (Obviously I am thinking Raye and Shanky are whores - "Skanky Shanky"??!?!?)
About the game - since it runs hot, I assume a sim module is needed. I have one. I assume Comedian does. Cadence? Anyone else? Sound like a game played in teams.
In the game, do one's meat skills carry over, or is it all Cybercombat-type skills?
JackRipper

Answers:
On MegaKill forums, He and his Tribe are enemies of the Gwar Loks tribe.
Hot sim required
Skills remain the same but governing attribute changes.(most players are utilizing a software set that mimics skillwires on the game)
Wil =Bod
Cha=str
Int=Agi
In the underground site called 'Ho's Down....low": byteSIZED has 3 posts about a street walker called Minnie...although she's given him 2 diferent STD's he favors her.
You have found no other info on the other two names(on line)

Some generic browse checks.
3 sets of data searches. 1 info from landlord/doss house 2. New subscribers to 'Megakill' who are suspiciously good for beginners 3. Hookers that would be to Bytesize's tastes. Still sustaining the cloak.
9d6-> [3,6,5,1,1,4,3,5,6] = 4 hits
9d6-> [3,3,6,2,1,5,1,5,2] = 3 hits
9d6-> [3,3,2,2,3,5,2,2,5] = 2 hits

So sorry, is that 'hookers of his type are not high speed matrix users'? Otherwise I don't see that making much sense...
Err is shadowsea like shadowlands post crash?
Regarding the hookers, is prostitution/curb crawling legal in this setting?
If so a search on tax records may have creds back traceable to B.S.
If no see if there is a criminal sin attached to B.S.
What would I roll for this stuff, my guess is I would have to hack something first...
JackRipper
Sep 14 2006, 10:29 PM
my goof, they are not matrix users.
yes, shadowsea is the new shadowland.
no, prostitution is not legal
Hookers dont file taxes (...i wonder if it's classified as tips, i think thats how they got Heidi Flice in the 90's )
There is no Criminal SIN that matches B.S's discription.
If you wish to hack...you may try getting yourself into shadowsea...but be wary, although they expect and appreciate a good hack (and hacker) a newbie, or no- name isnt trusted.

Okay then, with Blitz under the weather, we will leave Janie with Cadence in the van to work on the dead ork's commlink, and get a report on that once she's back online. Feel better, Blitz! We'll watch the hookers for a bit to get a feel for the traffic patterns. Cadence can give us a wider view from the drones.
But we will soon realize that we need to find Minnie, and we don't know what she looks like.
So I will IC post Asp and Chopper out of the van and onto the street.
If Cedric gets a chance, some more of his awesome intimidation RP would be great fun.
But either way, one post from me and one or two from him should be the last till our 2:15 lead. At around that time, we'll get a call from any of our companions who are stir crazy, and tell them to come join us (or they'll just come - we are still broadcasting to them live).
From there we can split into two equally active groups -
People with sim modules play the game, those without chase down street leads.
As usual, please anyone speak up with additional/alternate ideas.

My master plan for getting bytesised is going to be to hack his sadass game character, steal it, then basically give all his stuff away, get him killed a lot, do a bunch of munchin player kills on his own team and essentially trash it down to nothing.

Jack - I can easily back edit anything if I assumed too much about what is in the alley.
Asp won't try to be subtle - he'll just walk up on the guy and put him in a pain-compliance hold.
[ Spoiler ]
Initiative 11 / 3 passes
3 5 1 6 6 2 5 6 1 5 1 = 6 hits = 17 initiative
Unarmed combat + subduing spec + agility = 12 dice
1 1 4 5 2 2 2 5 1 1 4 4 = 2 hits
How embarrassing.
IF he didn't notice me, I'll have superior position +2 dice
3 3 = 0 extra hits.
So assuming even if I get initiative he is going to try to fight me -
Versus gun
2 reaction tests
1. 4 1 6 3 6 2 1 = 2 hits
2. 3 3 5 6 4 5 4 = 3 hits
2 soaks
Body + bone lacing + ballistic = 17 dice
1. 5 6 4 1 3 4 6 4 1 3 3 2 4 3 1 6 2 = 4 hits
2. 1 3 4 6 4 3 2 3 6 1 2 1 3 4 6 1 2 = 3 hits
versus melee
2 reaction + block = 12 dice
1. 4 4 4 2 1 1 5 2 1 1 1 3 = 1 success
2. 6 6 2 3 3 1 5 5 3 5 3 1 = 5 successes
2 damage soaks
Body + bone lacing + impact = 16 dice
1. 4 5 3 5 4 4 4 5 1 3 2 1 1 5 3 5 = 5 hits
2. 6 5 3 2 4 1 5 5 3 6 3 6 3 4 6 2 = 7 hits
And two more passes of trying to subdue him (if I get him in a hold, will spend subsequent passes improving the hold per the rules).
1. 2 1 3 3 3 6 3 1 1 4 4 1 = 1 hit
2. 1 6 6 1 2 3 4 6 3 2 1 2 = 3 hits
Well that was pretty much a disaster.
Probably more rolls than will be needed, but better to many than to little to save on post cycles.
Sorry, what I
meant to say is that he'll walk up to the guy and TRY to put him in a pain-compliance hold. Gee whiz....
