I recall in the past 3 editions magicians took physical drain from astral conjuring and sorcery. Has anyone found reference to this in 4thE?

Only when overcasting. In 4th ed. that is....

You couldn't even perform conjuring while perceiving or projecting.

No longer that way in SR4 ... Drain works identical on both planes these days => Only overcasting will (so far) cause physical drain in SR4 ...
