So you walk though the cyberware detector at SEA-TAC international and are pulled aside for a "randomly selected screening". Could you avoid trouble by simply presenting enough Fake permits and then having them pass examination?
I would imagine this sort of information would need to be declared prior to purchasing a ticket like carrying on a hand-gun. However, with the right Fake Permit this seems to be the only feasible way of doing it.
Any thoughts?

There is some 'ware (the most popular kind among runners
) that is simply illegal, so you can't get permits for it. But if you have a good enough fake permit there's no reason why you shouldn't use it.
I agree with you about having to go through a declared channel of some sorts though. You might also find yourself in the unenviable position of having some kind of 'ware inhibitor attached to you while on the plan/in the corp building/in the club etc.

I would assume the process is actually pretty smooth. You walk through the detector, it picks up your gear, it asks the guard to detain you momentarily, it queries your commlink to see if you've got permits for your gear, and then zips a message off to the host that your permit is registered in to ask "is this a valid permit?"
If you don't set off the detector, it's got no reason to query you. If you do, it's not a matter of being dragged off into a side room or anything rude if you act like this happens all the time.
My brother had the bones in the right side of his face rebuilt in the late 70s, and he sets off metal detectors. His response to a ringing metal detector is to simply turn to the guard on the far side of the detector, extend both arms out level with his shoulders and say "use the wand, please." When they figure out it's his face that's buzzing, they let him go.
Callback on your ID check should take noticeably less than a minute in 2070. If you just hang out and bullshit with the guard ("Yeah, got this arm in Guam during the Brushfire Wars, and they hate pulling some of this old tech out... it's a pain in the butt when I fly, but it's all demilled."), you ought to be okay if he's got no reason to be suspicious.
Obviously, this doesn't work in some other scenarios ("I'm sorry, why is a combat vet showing up to our high-security research lab again?") but it'll help get you through a number of them without the guard tabbing the button that asks the computer to do a deeper check.

Not all ware is worth checking too. For example, every body has a datajack, as long as a datajack is picked up with that, you can say, "oh it's just my datajack" they'd probably not bother with you.

Not to mention, a cyberware detector is not garunteed to detect all cyberware.

I'd only bother with R- of F-rated 'wares since the others are as common as a metal belt buckle in the same scenario. Social skills are your friend in situations like this too.

MAD scanners will simply return a positive or negative alarm if metal is or isn't detected.
Cyberware scanners can, if they get enough hits on that roll, return pretty specific info on cyberware. Your Deltaware illegal stuff isn't likely to get picked up and specified but if your Standard spurs are detected they might get a good read on them and be able to tell you're freakin' Wolverine.

All of which can be prevented if you go to a small airport that charters small aircraft. Ever been to a Corperate Wings terminal? No metal detectors.

Yeah, I'd imagine "Shadow Airservices" make a pretty penny by not asking too many questions. Although terrorist type groups would make this a very high-risk business.

Not terribly. Terrorists need a big plane to inspire the most terror. A small aircraft just isn't terrifying enough.

Hey, t-bird jammers make a fortune running across borders. They happen to charge a pretty penny for insertion/extraction work, is all.

imo the only way to travel long distances with illegal cyberware ,if you don't have diplomatic immunity, is through smugglers...
I think the cyberware scanners at airports will be advanced enough to identify exactly which ware youre packing (ok maybe not deltaware)...

Hopefully Arsenal will have rules for a cyberware option that lets 'ware get scanned as something else. Like in Johnny Mnemonic where his headware memory is detected as a dyslexia prosthesis.
....what? Shut up, I like that movie.

Hey, if you're gonna pull a tidbit of information from the movie, the disguised implant is one of the cooler ones.
