I'm working on an expanded list of archetypes beyond the ones in the base book and was curious to see what the community had to offer.
Concepts are welcome and full sheets are more than appreciated.
Full Version: Alternative Archtypes
Concept ideas:
Sam Types:
Urban Primitive - Uses Kinetic ranged weapons, not ballistic. Uses Hand to hand weapons. 'Ware tends to be older, and always standard.
Urban Brawler - Specialized in Sports, and may even have a Day job
The Doc - This guy knows his medicines. He knows how to heal the worst. Which means, he also understands how to hurt someone badly.
Face Types:
Street Pimp-Street level knowledges and etiquette only. Has contacts on street level, and in working girls. Isn't afraid of the big pistols and automatics.
Social Engineer - This is actually a Hacker/Face type. Specializes in the Con. While he might use some brute force tactics, he prefers to convince every day drones and security ops to give him access and passwords. Hit etiquette, con, Corporate knowledges(Especially security and IT procedures, and heirarchy)(One of my Favorite Concepts)
dilletante - The finest Clubs, the finest clothes, the finest wines, the finest cars. This face knows about them all, and enjoys them to the max. Especially when he or she can use it to move up in social circles. Rumors fly at parties, and blackmail becomes a speciality for this face.
Hacker Types -
Already Mentioned Social Engineer.
BTL Maker - Not only does this kid know how to program, and work the hardware, he records his own simsense programs, and modifies them. The BTL's he makes are based on himself. His own emotions, his own activities. And his own creativity.

Spider - This guy loves to be the center of the web. If he can take over a building, no one is safe. He understands defensive architecture, security procedures, and can pilot drones to the max.
turtle - This guy loves his drones. His idea of a good run is hunkering down in some armoured shell, and letting the drones do the work. If the bullets don't come near him, he is all the happier.

-This guy is in it strictly for the thrill, the money is a nice extra though. Bungee Jumping, Base Jumping, Rapelling all just got a bit more of a rush when performed under fire, moving from paintballs to live ammunition just upped the ante, and Le Parkour is just so much more fun when your also trespassing in a high security zone. Be careful with this guy on your side because his extreme nature tends to crave an audience.

Bungee Jumping, Base Jumping, Rapelling all just got a bit more of a rush when performed under fire, moving from paintballs to live ammunition just upped the ante, and Le Parkour is just so much more fun when your also trespassing in a high security zone. Be careful with this guy on your side because his extreme nature tends to crave an audience.

Face Archetypes:
The People Pleaser -
Gentle, demure, and submissive, the people pleaser is psycologically incapible of face-to-face confrontation. She will never assert herself, instead relying on passive agressive tactics and the 'kindness of strangers'. Insensitive individuals should beware the people pleaser. It takes a very observant individual to know when she feels wronged and even the most minor slight will earn her passive-agressive wrath. A gentleman holds a door for a lady. If you don't hold the door for her then she'll find a Love Troll who'll be pleased to enlighten you. If she sneezes and you don't say "God Blees You" then you'll find yourself on the sex offender registery as soon as she can call her hacker contact.
The People Pleaser prefers Ettiquite and Con and has a large stable of "nice guy" contacts who know how to treat a lady right and are happy to hurt those who don't. She has a tendancy to exagerate the wrongs commited against her.
The Mad Bomber - Is that a kilogram of C12 in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? To the mad bomber blowing stuff up is like having an orgasm, only better. Nuclear bomb test videos are like pornography to her. As a child, she fed explosive coctails to small animals and watched them explode in a shower of blood and guts. If anyone had thought to take her to a psycologist she would have been diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder and locked up for the rest of her natural life. Instead she uses her complete lack of morality and her excellent social skills to feign innocence as the world blows up around her.
The Mad Bomber's forte is social engineering. She can use her superior social skills to get almost anywhere a bomb needs to be planted. She has knowledge of structural engineering and can use it to bring down any building. In combat, she prefers IEDs to other weapons and relies heavily on the throwing skill to get them to her enemies.

Law sliner. Sometimes the law can be used by the shadows. Those time you want to know the law, and you wnat someone who can use the law. THey are charming, nice sweet ont he outside.THey may even still have high goals about eh futre or whatever but they at the end of the day all bend the law to do their jos as runners. A lot of run maybe to get hings to help in the courtroom...
Data Troll. THis person lives for numbers and paterns. He not only can go threw data and find them.He can hide them as well. This means blackmailing others and hiding your shadowrunners.
The tweenty something stunner. She looks like she walked out your wet dream.She has the hair, and the eyes you like.She dresses the way you like...But her hair color isn't real, neather are hereye or even skin colour.She draws crowd by her looks but she can change them within hours.
Data Troll. THis person lives for numbers and paterns. He not only can go threw data and find them.He can hide them as well. This means blackmailing others and hiding your shadowrunners.

I like this, but I vote without the phys-ad. In fact, I can see him with tons of replacement implants, some kind of semi-legal bone lacing, etc. And maybe some kind of horrible head trauma that makes him scream out "EXTREEEEME" at random intervals.

You could go either way, the only reason I went with phys-ad when I wrote this up was that there were already a couple of Sam types posted.
Street Doc:
A good street-doc has the connections to get 'ware, drugs, real fresh organs, muscle, you name it. Seeing runners come in for big-ticket 'ware has sparked the interest of more than one 'doc and so, with the connections to get their own 'ware, it's no surprise that some have turned to running for extra cash on the side.
Hackmage: (as termed by Silent Wayfarer on the RPGnet boards)
The ultimate backup runner, the hackmage has dominion over not one but two paralell worlds. Where you and your spirits are stopped by barriers, you send drones or hack your way in. Where you can't hack, the mojo starts flying. Few barriers are insurmountable by the hackmage, and a logical mindset benefits both technical and magical pursuits.
The Reader:
To him, complex shifting auras tell tales and a crime scene is like an open book. With a glance, he knows more about your cyberware than you do, knows if you've had anything to drink, and can tell you to eat more fibre and go see a doctor about that itch. Given a knife, he can tell you if it is a murder weapon and wether or not the murder was sparked by love, hate, or the emotionless act of an assasin. Often Adepts or Magicians following the Dark King, these individuals can tell so much from so little that it boggles the mind and creeps people out.

Think I'll do stats for this one too. Did you figure him as a hacker, like hacking firewalls and stuff, or more like data mining and analysing kind of guy?

I think it's pretty cool people are putting down their own Urban Primitive archetypes. I made my own a few weeks back, as a matter of fact: A mundane, cyberless troll named Scar.
The combat drug dosage prices I took out of SR3's Man and Machine, since SR4 lacked them. Also I couldn't get CODE and SPOILER to play nice, so sorry if the numbers don't line up right. They should.

When you spend your day picking up clients pieces and trading lead with strangers you start to wonder just which side you're on, anyone can buy a contract after all, anyone at all. This little lady left the company because she can't take the doubt anymore, in the shadows she can still save lives and maybe even help a cause, and of course this time she'll know which lives are worth saving.
I came up with this concept for a game I'm about to run, my fiancee wanted to play something like a mundane combat medic.
When you spend your day picking up clients pieces and trading lead with strangers you start to wonder just which side you're on, anyone can buy a contract after all, anyone at all. This little lady left the company because she can't take the doubt anymore, in the shadows she can still save lives and maybe even help a cause, and of course this time she'll know which lives are worth saving.

...that almost describes my new character Dr. Zanzibar save for the bane against spirits that he has.

My Rigger characters have always been a hybrid of the speed freak and the turtle archetypes. My characters always strived for big, bad, nasty, and fast "tanks". One of the best vehicles I modded was a ford Bison with full armour kit and a weapons array that would make a third world dictator drool with delight. sadly he died when a servo of anti-vehicular rockets laced into the van and left a crater in the street where he once was. Don't piss off Lone Star. They have big guns.
The Ex-Doc Wagoneer, something I've wanted to try for a while, but steming from that, the ParaMedic, one concept that goes a few ways.
Either just a spell caster that focuses on healing magic, and kicking ass if need be. Perhaps an awakened Nun, or a shamanic Y counselor, healing hurts and causing them to others.

A mystic adept, splitting magic to get healing and facestopming in equal measure, more of a combat medic feel, on the front lines, taking cover to get your buddy back in the fight, then renewing the push, guns blazing together.
or
Auto Ambulance, a rigger in the drivers seat with a tricked out ambulance, medical and combat drones, a converted gurney steel lynx, LMG turrets on the top, and auto docs in the back, or you could put the van on autopilot and jump in to provide that extra expertise, I might make this a street doc contact NPC, a free lance docwagon in essense, going on corp property costs extra. He would have to worry about much worse ambulance chacers than lawyers though.

Digital Criminal meets Artist for this one, a guy for whom his tagger Pseudonym is known all over the world for his beautiful Hijacking of VR and AR displays. Basically motivated by the belief the virtual world should be a more "artistic" the Virtual Art Tagger adds to, replaces, or touches up nodes that he or she finds to be dull. What separates the Virtual Art Tagger from the average hacker with a severe need for attention is a relatively high Artisan (Graphic Arts) skill.

Let's first point you that I did not mean the race troll when I as making the data troll. Trolling data is what people in the CIA want to do.They look over files and scan them over and over looking for patterns or lack of them.THings that stand out in vast piles of data.
All my archetypes can be played by any race, gender magically active or not.
Spin doktor. THe spin doktor doesn't care about the truth. He cares about how to make things look better. He puts a spin ont things. From why the corps need this team, to why the corps would do better with propaganda. He will not tend to kill people with gun,knives or bombs. He kills people in the hearts and minds of those around his target. Need a R&D project in to fail? Why not make it look like the people making it want to give you dancer or whatever..Make them look bad,stupid or untrust worthily and you will go a long way.

Specializing in different types of data bombs, spoofing, and exploiting, this guy likes to take it to the company, trap sensitive files, or even change the enviroment of the nodes to fit his statement.
He can be a trouble to have in a group, as he always likes to leave his makr and make his statement, especially if he thinks it will make his victim look like a fool.

Yeah I figured that out halfway through building it. Then considerd changing it, but thought it was funny anyway so kept it.
"Komrade"... effin awesome. Shadowrun is all about Rippin the System and making a quick buck while your doing it.
Cyber Flunkie- You were in the top ten most deadly mothers in your corporate military. Something happened to jepordize your good life... maybe cancer, maybe the corp needed you to do something dangerous, maybe your emotional/social life started to crumble. In any case, you were going down and going down quick. Offered one last chance to pull your self out of the fire, you entered a top-secret program where they did whatever the hell they wanted to you in attempts to make a better shadowrunner-trap. You ended up psychotic or damaged or somehow not-quite-effective, and escaped the prison/hospital where you had been confined. Basically a sam, but with good reason to have just about any assortment/arrangement of cyberware and skills imagineable, as well as a good reason to act like a loon.
Brawler - Cyborg built by organized crime or a private party to be a champion pit fighter or boxer or whatever. Melee fun (and maybe brain damage, too).
"Freedom Fighter" - You're a genius. School and corps cramp your style, though, and that plan to embezzle money from college didn't work out. Got a rebel streak in you? The UCAS do something you don't like? Wanna fight the man? Various organizations ranging from freedom fighters to activists to outright terrorists have paid you to make weapons for them. Explosive devices, chemical weapons, biological agents, maybe one day even nuclear... Whether you really beleive their drek or you just want the money, your inventions cause mass destruction.
Firestarter - Magician who focuses entirely on burning things; flame thrower, fire ball, Fire Bringer mentor spirit, etc. It's always fun to jazz up your magician with some sort of theme. Plus, you could easily get points from the "distinctive style" drawback.
