Hello all,
I'm slowly making my way through the corebook. I have two questions concerning qualities however. These are my interpretations of how these qualities affect character creation. Can you guys comment on them?
For the Aptitude Quality: Characters that purchase this at character creation can have two skills rated at 5 and the rest at 4 OR one non-aptitude skill rated at 6 and the rest at 4 OR the aptitude skill rated at 7 and the rest at 4.
Exceptional Attribute Quality: Characters that purchase this at character creation can pay 25 BP to raise the specified attribute to the new natural maximum. They do not pay 25 BP to raise the attribute to the old natural maximum and then another 25 BP to raise the attribute to the new natural maximum.
Thanks,
Nick

I think that's about right actually.
You only pay the 25 BP premium for the last point purchasable

One at 7 and two at 4
You pay 25BP to raise to the new maximum and not the old one.

You mean the rest of the skills can't be higher than 3?

I'm pretty certain that you can have as many skills at 4 as you want.
You could get silly with it and rule that you can have the enhanced skill at 6, one other at 5 an the rest at 4 max, but I'd go with the simplest option which is that the enhanced one can be maxed to 7, or with one other skill to 5. After all, if someone wants to buy the improved ability quality they'll probably want to max out that skill anyway.

Does Aptitude specifically allow you to start with a 7? I thought it let you have a 7, but you're still limited to the max of 6 at character creation. No books handy though, so it's likely I'm misremembering.

It allows a starting character to have a skill of 7 or raise a skill to 7 via karma later.

"raise a skill to 7 via karma later."
Which will cost a whopping 28 karma to do
